Making Amazing Furniture from Bamboo

A training video on how to make whole culm bamboo furniture. This is a knowledge product of the INBAR-led project South-South Knowledge Transfer Strategies project, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the European Union.

you show the tongue and groove assembly using full wood. Impossible to do that with bamboo because it's hollow.
Nothing about the fibers used to join the bamboo pieces together, and this is, by far, the most interesting.
Everyboby that has once tried to create bamboo furniture got blocked by this join problem.

Nothing on the treatment so I will tell here. 3 solutions : sea water 2 weeks, slacked lime 2 weeks, or borax.
Borax is dangerous in case of fire, the burning bamboo treated with borax will give off toxic fumes.
Slacked lime gives good protection against termites but sea water is better in my opinion.
( both slacked lime and salt from sea water will slow down the burning so it's a security against fire)
Another thing to say : do not cut off the green skin of the bamboo as showed in the video ! it's really hard material against termites.
