I just picked up the Folio edition for 50 bucks, beautiful book, not their most elaborate edition, but as a disciple of Stoicism and history fan, a must have.

Great comparison. I'm in the middle of reading the Folio edition and enjoying it. One of the best reads by far for me. Would have never gotten it had you not recommended it in one of your videos. Would like to get a copy of the Easton Press edition but the price I feel is too much in the second hand market.

I own the Folio Society versjon but have not gotten to read it jet.
I have multiple easton press books would you say others of that pulishers books have an Archaic translation?
Candide, The Prince, Dialogues of frindship-Plato, Politics and Poetics-Aristotle are my easton press books i believe.
I`m curious what you think of the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin Easton Press?

Even most Greeks can't read the original greek version because it was written in ancient greek which although similar, it's an extremely archaic and complex language nonetheless.

The only problem with FS is that the typesetting often does not fit the page sizes properly.

And one addendum on translations, I agree there is no such thing as a 'best' translation. Having said that when talking about Greek and Roman works the definitive translations, and the ones used by professional classical scholars and authors, is almost always the Loeb Classical Library.

The preface to the folio edition by A.C Grayling would sway me alone I think as he himself is a widely respected philosopher and classicist.

    I prefer George Long's translation.
