Harri, you can never go wrong with bread.
They had so many great hits and they were all beautifully done.
Bread produced some of the most beautiful music at the time.
...or any other.
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find another talent and voice in one package.
Fun fact: this unique guitar solo was played by the same session musician, who was once with the wrecking crew and played bass on the original recording of Light my fire by the Doors, piano intro on Bridge over troubled water and on wedding bell blues by the Fifth Dimension and so much more, the late Larry Knechtel !
Great pick Imadrummin! I love Bread! I think Bread doesn't get the props they deserve. I have the this CD. Love it. They make beautiful music. Great reaction Harri. Congratulations on retirement Greybeard!
Thank you!! 😀
Agreed100
Agreed Imadrummin! HUGE hugs!!
This song really captures the essence of the 70’s
I grew up listening to the soft rock music of Bread in the 70's & had their albums. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Everything I Own", "Lost Without Your Love", "Look What You've Done", "It Don't Matter To Me", "Sweet Surrender", "Let Your Love Go", "Aubrey" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train"."
Their songs are all beautiful 😻
SOBRETODO ESTA CANCION ES MUY BUENA
"Look What You've Done"
Their song "Diary" always gets me, brings a tear lol.
Aubrey! Mystic poetic.
Harri, their "Baby I'm-A Want You" would the next logical one for you!!
P]
That is a beautiful song. 👍
I'm partial to Mother Freedom, me. .
Bread were really in a class of their own and all their hits are a soundtrack to the 70's, in particular Guitar Man. Harri you have given this song the honour it deserves!
Oh and his voice is totally Awesome
Truly exceptional voice. This song is like a book end for The Carpenters Superstar.
Yes!
David Gates is probably the most underated singer songwriter in music. He's incredible
This is such a beautiful mellow song. Bread does the song that makes me cry the most; “EVERYTHING I OWN”; one listen and you will know exactly why. Harri, I truly love your reactions ❤️
Yes it’s a beautiful song
Ooooo! I love that one too! 🥰
Breads greatest hits is an excellent album. I bought it in the mid 80s and have consistently listened to it over the years. EVERY song on it is either really good or great. You just can't go wrong with this group.
I could see you got hooked almost immediately Harri, and that just speaks to how great this song and band was. Loved it.
Greatest soft rock group ❤
An interesting fact about this song is that the guitar solo is by Larry Knechtel who also played the piano on "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel.
For much of his career, he was a member of the Wrecking Crew and so he has a long list of session work he did for some of the big names in popular music.
Thee guitar wasn't even his first instrument.
And obviously, he was normally the bassist for Bread having replaced Rob Royer.
Knechtel’s guitar solo is inimical and superb, the wah wah pedal has never been used more beautifully or eloquently than on this recording, I was barely a teenager back in the seventies when I first heard this song and I’ve loved it all my life.
This song is ear candy! Baby I’m A-Want you is another one.
Any song by Bread is a good one ❤
I agree with everything you said Harri.
My favorite Bread song is: If. Probably one of the greatest love songs I've ever heard.
for a beautiful song nothing beats their 'Aubrey'
Thanks again Harri, another wonderful evening enjoying this with you. Great
"You find yourself a message and some words to call your own and take 'em home" I'm 63 and there are so many words and messages that I have taken to heart from other songs over the years that have seen me through good times and tough times. These words put a meaning to all the other words I've held close all these years.
Did you ever hear of
I did say Dave his last name is loggins Dave's loggins yes indeed the song is called please please I said please come to Boston give it to spend a few ain't never heard it s*** your better. Different time zone you need them you need to get back give it to spend 5 try to say bro
Oh my friend i am 66 and all these songs are mine . Every tone every word . I am so lucky to was born in 58
My chill band. So calming.
It's my favorite "slice" of Bread!
can never go wrong with BREAD!!!
Ironically or not, the guitar work is iconic. 🎸
I was in High School in the 90's when I discovered Bread. I listened to Pearl Jam and Soundgarden in the morning and at night I relaxed with Bread and Jim Croce.
LOVE Bread and miss those sweet days! Thanks so much for listening and sharing with us! Big Hugs from TN!!!
String arrangements on the outro are fantastic!
A totally unique sound from one of the best bands of the late '60s and the '70s.
My second favorite song by Bread right after their song called If.
I would always just close my eyes & float away with their music. Bread is just amazing to chill to.
Lost Without Your Love
It Don't Matter To me
Everything I Own
Diary
Baby I'm a Want You
Such beautiful songs. Great storytellers.
This one about a successful guitarist who amasses extreme notoriety but still hasn't found his own happiness. Love it. Glad you loved it Harri. Thanks to Imadrummin and Harri for a beautiful memory. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you very much Mary!!! Your Bread suggestions are beautiful songs too. 👍
@@Imadrummin Thank you. 😊 👍✌️🇨🇦

*Aubrey*
*If*

How can you be so soft rock but yet Rock ???? Love Bread.... Peace & love
Bread was a great group and David Gates had such a beautiful voice
LOVE and APPRECIATE the passion. keep them coming
Your so right. I always liked this song. Thanks
Hey Harri, I love to see people reacting to the music I grew up with.
I wish we could get back to that, where they played their own music and were great at it.
Very skilled with the instruments.
Harry you got a Great ear for Music Brother.
Harri I also requested that you hear this. So happy you did. It’s something unimaginable. Thank you! ♥️
David Gates and Bread were so incredible. So glad you like them. So many great songs! Try "If" and "Everything I Own"- Lovely songs.
I loved the strings at the end.
Harri, you're my favorite person to hang with, Hugs!
The best Bread song. It is. also, goosebumps.
Comparable to this classic from the 1970s, if you haven't reacted to Carole King's 'Jazzman", yet . . . check that one out. My absolute favorite from her!
Larry Knechtel did the electric guitar with the waa waa sound. He also played the piano
for Simon & Garfunkel on the song, Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
You need to hear “If”♥️
And to think the guitar soloist was the grammy-award winning pianist for Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water... Larry (RIP), you're my idol.
You are the best Harri!
Great Band! Man! Just 2 hits and take a break! 🎸🍷🎶
There is a whole loaf out there for Bread. Plenty of slices to choose from.
Dude, your reaction is right on. I really enjoy reactions on a daily basis. Thank you.
Always loved the band, first heard this sitting in my bedroom in north Toronto in the 70s. Love the wah-wah to this day, gotta buy one even tho' I seldom play. Perhaps the purchase will help me reach critical mass and re-ignite the creative spark.
Summer Nights in the 70s listening to Bread through my dad’s imported Grundig sound system & amazing headphones. Their songs bring me back to those soft lovely days as a kid.
This is my favorite song of all time.
I absolutely loved Bread back in the day but had to keep it under wraps! It would have completely ruined my "street cred" as a hard rock chick. Was also a closet fan of Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow but ONLY in private!! Now I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of my musical tastes and believe me they're ALL OVER THE PLACE!! I have literally gone from Rachmaninoff to Robert Johnson to Patsy Cline to Frank Zappa in the span of a few hours during one of my listening sessions!
Such a spot-on comment, although Bread wasn't as much of a guilty pleasure for me as The Carpenters. Some of my rock friends would actually listen to Bread as a kind of palette cleanser between rock albums. I had very few friends who could handle my penchant for musical variety, though. Like you, I bounce between genres and eras. I laughed when you listed an example of your listening habits - it's refreshing to know there's someone else out there who mixes it up.
Carla, Deborah... imagine a hard-boiled rocker dude trying to keep Bread on the down low.
David Gates is so tragically overlooked as a singer/songwriter and brilliant composer.
While their music did reach the charts several times, they quietly faded into the background.
I suppose it could be that the subject matter was also receding. Heartfelt lyrics, stellar melodies and sublime vocals.
As tastes change so rapidly, the quality will never fade and we can always sit for a visit with this simply incredible catalog.
My tastes have actually grown and expanded, and while I lean now more towards METAL, I still love a visit with this period...brings back such beautiful memories.
There was a level of uncool about coming out as a Bread fan.
Music is where you find it.
HiCarla! I’ve ALWAYS loved the group Bread! I was NEVER cool! Lol! If you like rock, how about Jimmy Barnes or AC DC? Great Aussie rockers! Peace and Blessings to you and your family from Australia.
I knew you'd love this when I saw this on the playlist. So glad you appreciate this great song by a great band!
David Gates and Bread were amazing. What a voice and Interpreter!
Bread are great story tellers coupled with David Gates's amazing voice.
Oh I love this song!
It's so true how music can touch every emotion. Cathartic on many levels. Guitar Man truly is one of the most beautiful songs ever written!
I haven't heard this in decades and it still is fresh in my mind. That's what a great song is all about, Wow!
Bread was great, they knew how to make tracks that just sound so good, were special
Love love this...and them.
Still feeling it after all these years. Sublime.
This is just one of the many great songs offered by 'Bread' in the 70's. "If," "Diary," "Baby Imma Want You," "It Don't Matter To Me," Everything I Own" and "Lost Without Your Love" just to get you started. These guy were the kings of the love song and we loved us a love song back the day. These songs were the sound track of our love lives and we couldn't get enough. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for including us on your journey of discovery.
What a cool tune.
Special thanks to my dear friend Ima! One of my favorite songs of all time. I had to get my guitar out and play along, whilst tears were streaming. Much love to you my brother, and too you Harri my very good friend!

Make it with you is a fantastic tune by Bread.
I requested this song, I don't remember if it was with you Harri, but excellent choice, thank you! David Gates Voice is Stellar.💯🥳 A day in the life of ..Musicians🎸🎹🎶🎵🎶
Brings tears to my eyes also. I grew up playing guitar and listening this song.
What musician doesn’t dream of being in his place?! For that matter, you
don’t even have to be a musician! What great song…
A true music lover. Love you man.
Awe, your reaction is nice. It's a beautiful song.
This came out when I was a teenager and I always loved this song! Oh, and another of my favorites of theirs was a song called "If".
They can rock too! Check out "Mother Freedom" and "Let your love go"
Takes me back to the Park City pool laying on my towel and listening to the amazing music playing over the PA speakers in the early 70's.
Bread bassist and sometimes guitar and organ player Larry Knechtal, Performed the piano work on "Bridge Over Trouble Water". He , was previously a member of the west coast session band The Wrecking Crew.
true ty ty ty
Certainly got one of the most spectacular song outros ever. Impeccable song and unusual topic as this band that is best known for love ballads. Kudos to Larry Knechtel for the wah wah guitar work, just gorgeous
I had forgotten how mind-expanding that outro was.
God only knows how many times I listened to this during my youth playing on the radio. Radio was so big back then.
I love your reaction to this, especially since I move my head the same way when I hear this song
There you go....Bread has so many great ones...
It's this kind of music that fills my head with beautiful memories as child of the 70s
Harri happy you played this you took me to that very year, the 70' was an absolutely very creative musical time. Bread is one of favorite bands. As well as "Steppenwolf".
One of their most beautiful songs was Make it with You. It was huge radio hit in the 1970s.
Perfect music, Perfect voice. I love it, goosebumps All over. 💕💕💕🎶🎶
Imadrummin...Sitting here with my girl loving your great selection. She hadn't heard it in years. Probably my favorite Bread tune. Thanks for sharing, brother!
That is awesome to hear brother!!! Appreciate ya! 👍👍👍
I’ve always loved this song♥️ Thank you Imadrummin for this amazing selection💙and Harri for such great reaction💙
This song will forever be the 8th grade school bus ride to East Junior High School. Looking around that bus, I can still see the cute girls that rode on my bus. One of whom had a portable 8 track tape player and this album on tape. It would play most school day mornings for a couple of months. I can see the smiling faces. Some I am still in touch with. Some have fallen off the face of the Earth and sadly some have passed away but they will be forever 13 and 14 years old in my mind when this song plays.
Oh this brings back great memories 🥰👍☮️🇨🇦🎸
This one always sends a chill down my spine.
