The greatest white soul and blues singer EVER. The man can make you feel something that seldom other people can get you to feel just by a song. He's one of my favs. If you ever get a chance to see him life, you must!
Holy mother of all that is holy.... this is life changing music. I am hopeful now that real music isn't dead. My Lochloosa is a little creek in Northern AZ where I take my kids and everything becomes right with the world, cares melt away, my soul becomes cleansed and it's the only place where life makes sense. Thank you, thank you so much for this
I am lucky enough to know JJ personally. We grew up on the dirt roads of a small community west of Jacksonville called Maxville. it is an honor as a USMC Vet to call him a dear friend. And I have always supported him. Long live the summer days of fishing on Lake 'Loosie
I went to Jacksonville and Gainesville for the first time last week, and made a point to drive to Lochloosa. I found a dirt road off of Hwy 301 on the south side of the lake, which took me to a scene that perfectly resembled this song. I pulled this video up while I sat on the bank, and listened and enjoyed. The wildlife was amazing and a bald eagle even flew over. Thank you JJ!
You can FEEL that everything about this performance is deeply personal to JJ and he makes us feel it too. This is what the greatest performers do that others only dream of.
Deeply personal to me, left the home of my ancestors, my home , my paradise I was born in 2 years ago. I grieved for her before I left and I will grieve for her until the day I die. What he sings puts me right in my childhood, growing up with no ac, fishing for my lunch, one with nature. I will always love Florida for what it was, teaching me and providing for me every day.
This song right here saved me! I was in a dark place for two years, after loosing my grandma! I never have heard of JJ before! But i clicked on this video, and my life changed! So thank you!!! JJ Gray!!!
Well put. I’m in tears every time I listen to this song. I don’t know if its tears of joy or pain, but they run like Mississippi. I can’t believe a song can stop the world around you. This man is one of a kind. How did I not hear this song before this year?
i was sitting around a table with some friends at a place in Lake Worth, FLA. The evening jam session after group all day. Rehab. A friend put this on, no one was really paying attention, we were just chillin, and the guitar solo came up and I said "who the fuck is this?" "JJ Grey and Mfro," she replied. Been listening to it ever since, rehab didn't stick, but Lochloosa still jams almost on the daily.
This always brings a couple tears to my eyes because my Lochloosa is going away. It's also the passion and energy that JJ and the band have. Thank you to JJ and boys for keeping me in touch with my inner soul
I've loved this song from the instant I heard the first couple of notes..... it's a tearjerker for sure and I'm not from Florida.... It's the feeling put into singing it that does it for t
My Lochloosa is Perkiomen valley airport (N10). I grew up there, my Dad let me fly his plane before I drove his car. There are public pictures however, they do no justice. I have great pictures
@@marystrand1547 , I live in Florida and spent some long weekends of my childhood in Lochloosa. No doubt it has changed from then, but I'll always remember it as a sleepy, quiet collection of fishing shacks and cypress trees.
If you want an emotive experience that you can trust is not altered nor enhanced by any techno-assist then JJ is your man. I love his natural ability to bring a song to life. This song is about as close to soul expression than one can get. A true artist!
Me and my high school sweetheart recently reconnect 25 years later. We danced and listened to this song all night. It was amazing, thanks for the great memory.
He writes the lyrics and absolutely drop mics the harmonica and guitar on this. He's amazing! All that being said his band is no joke and huge part of the sound. Respect all around.
Had the wonderful pleasure of opening a show for him here in my hometown of Tallahassee at beautiful Cascades Park. This song means so much to me. He's such a nice guy and this song was my favorite part of an incredible show.
Between the harmonica and the love for this place you can hear in his voice when he sings!!!... JJ Grey is the truth. I thank my dad for introducing me to his music 👌💯💪
This is the only song I've seen that can be played and will stop a whole construction site full of guys to sit by and have they're ears glued to the speakers. Long live JJ Grey and Mofro
Just drove a load thru Lochloosa on 301 today. Can’t say I saw much of the place from the rig, but just seeing that familiar town name brought a smile to my face.
Sorry. Too late. I grew up in Florida in the 70's and 80's. It's over. Not much left. Glad I left 20 years ago. The ignorant Republicans took over. Money Money Money
Dude, Jay Jay was one of the nicest people I've ever met.. He came to St. Augustine Cafe 11, and he was so happy to listen to my dude from mississippi, such a soulful, humble person. It makes me love his music so much more..
Ocala fl where I call home and Crystal River for 30 plus years. And Ocala made news again. It use to be a sleepy little town where there were cows everywhere and Mustangs ran free. Now 😢, it's hard to find a native Floridan anymore.
Sorry Stacy, but Florida is already finished. I grew up there in the 60's and 70's. The people who now live in Florida will continue to destroy and humiliate the creator in their shameless never ending love of money and the likes of a fool as Trump. I left 20 years ago. I don't even like to visit now. Too sad.
I heard this voice, on some TV drama. I was intrigued!? Powerful, emotional, comforting.....? I was brought to tears... Sun is shining! I was shredded..... how did I not hear this before? I absolutely love It... JJ Grey & Mofro's don't ever stop!

this man sung this sing with so much love that me and a buddy got on the bikes and rode down to see what this was that would make him sing about it like he did...best road trip I've ever had
I wish the studio version of this song was as good as the live version, I think a lot more people would have heard of the band if this version was put on the radio, it's absolutely fantastic.
I love this song. I saw it when I was living in a city . I prayed I would find my piece of land and my piece of mind. I did my goodness. I'm blessed. Thanks guy. God bless you

I love RUclips. I had never heard of JJ Grey. I was actually sick with the flu, listening to music and JJ came on. First song I heard was The Sun Is Shining. I was hooked. Simply awesome, so talented!!
And than as if he cant get any better in a song he picks up that guitar and blows me out the friggen door.look at the passion when playing, that's real.
I've seen JJGREY twice in NOLA . and going to see him in Texas H.O.B. in September . A buddy turned me on to him and I sware he's truly amazing. Anybody that can make u jump up and dance in one song then bring tears to ur eyes in another is a bad ass to me
I love this song so much and I don't even listen to this type of music that much. I happened to hear it on NPR a few years back and it just stuck with me. It just has so much passion and soul. I love his speech before this song. He seems like such a real, down to earth guy. "I don't go there to escape reality, I go there to GET to reality."
I haven't listened to music for years but i heard JJ Grey last night on House of Cards and had to look it up. Spent the next EIGHT HOURS with his music on, slept, then it's been on again all day. I know what you mean about him seeming down to Earth. And his lyrics are so honest and real. A treasure!!
i can sit and listen to this , the river and the sun is shining down for hrs . my life flipped upside down over night and it soothes my soul and keeps me focused and gives me meaning for my tomorrow ..........without it and who knows where the hell id be
Tammy, I cover you in prayer. Yes, I can relate. My daughter (27) suddenly passed away minutes after our morning phone call in Nov 2012. Music is my therapy also. Homesick but it's alright
Lochloosa is on my mind
She's on my mind
I swear it's ten thousand degrees in the shade
Lord have mercy knows - how much I love it
Every mosquito every rattlesnake
Every cane break - everything
Every alligator every black water swamp
Every freshwater spring - everything
All we need is one more damn developer
Tearing her heart out
All we need is one more Mickey Mouse
Another golf course another country club
Another gated community
Lord I need her
Lord I need her
And she's slipping away
If my grandfather could see her now
He'd lay down and die
Cause every minute every second every hour
Every day - Lord she's slipping away
Homesick but it's alright
Lochloosa is on my mind
She's on my mind..

OMG I cant believe how good this song is.
my brother in law introduced me to this band, and gotta say the vibes of their music just grooved on a soulful level, it's one of those times your just really glad you were at a good place and a good time to hear some really beautiful music.
Just to have him whisper in my ear....oh that voice :)
The places he could take you
Love it!!!
I get goose bumps to the harmonica. I've seen him several times and can't wait till the next.
Chill bumps every-effin-time!! These cats bring so much love and peace of mind to their shows...just like this here...So much Love and Respect for these cats. Thank you brothers
I’m obsessed…can’t get enough. Was at the show in Kalamazoo a week ago…got my ticket for the Rhythm Section in IL for July.
More soul in this single song than in the entire "Top 100" combined.
It’s cause the top 100 has no substance anymore, hasn’t for a long time
Gene, YOU took the words right out of MY mouth❣️ 😂 LOLhe said there's more soul in this single song then in the entire
agreed
This is why I play music
this man sung this sing with so much love that me and a buddy got on the bikes and rode down to see what this was that would make him sing about it like he did...best road trip I've ever had
Speaks to my soul, down deep...tears just rolling down my face.
Thanks guy. God bless you
what pisses me off the most...it took me so long to discover JJ and Mofro...the real deal !!!...as a DJ , JJ's gospel will be spread in the Northeast...talent, soul, musical grit, passion...I'm a BELIEVER !!!...
Just happened up on JJ Grey. Love his music and especially "Lochloosa" reminds me of my little hometown of Central South Carolina.
I have said this song could be named "Lake Murray"

I love RUclips. I had never heard of JJ Grey. I was actually sick with the flu, listening to music and JJ came on. First song I heard was The Sun Is Shining. I was hooked. Simply awesome, so talented!!
I love JJ's voice !! His music is so relaxing and real!! Thank you Mark Gamage for turning me on to his music!! Best thing you ever did!!
What a masterpiece! I can not get enough! Bravo, Encore and, "Aye!"
JJ when you tell it you dig deep real deep ! Bless you Man !
Man I just learned about this dude about. 1 yr ago.i could grab m a beverage of choice. .sit back & sing with this kind of music
Great song. Lochloosa is a very special little place on one of the most beautiful lakes in North Central Florida.
Anybody that can make u jump up and dance in one song then bring tears to ur eyes in another is a bad ass to me
I was just there a week ago. Brother Grey. No words. Man , Thank you for the gift of this life. Many thank you for you speaking.
A treasure!!
i can sit and listen to this , the river and the sun is shining down for hrs . my life flipped upside down over night and it soothes my soul and keeps me focused and gives me meaning for my tomorrow ..........without it and who knows where the hell id be
He is so talented. I had the honor of seeing him a few months ago in Ashville. Phenomenal live show. Love the horns and harp.
After losing my husband in Dec this song is my therapy. Awesome music.
Prayers and condolences..
Tammy, I cover you in prayer. Yes, I can relate. My daughter (27) suddenly passed away minutes after our morning phone call in Nov 2012. Music is my therapy also. You never get over it, but the grief does get a bit lighter when you learn that letting go doesn't mean losing him, it means loving yourself more.
Tenacious Tonya so sorry for your loss ❤️
Thank you for the prayers .
So sorry for your loss
A song that brings you back to what's real, what's important. A little water, lots of sky and peace in your heart
