The album was released in October 1984 , sold over 3 million worldwide , Ian Gillan the lead singer is still going , he did solo stuff under the name Gillan , which is worth checking out , Deep Purple reformed , imploded , reformed , imploded , reformed imploded , the lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore had a few issues , with everyone , but formed two great bands , Deep Purple , and Rainbow , both bands had hit singles and albums as well as many line ups and lead singers . But definitely worth checking out .. Enjoy ..
When they toured for this album they weren't sure how they would be accepted after being apart for so long. They found out, cause they had to add 2 and 3 nights to alot of their shows. And when they came to Cleveland they played the dj's from the big radio station from Cleveland in soccer, and kicked their ass. Yeah. Peace
DEEP PURPLE, "PERFECT STRANGERS", They still had it in 1984. Got back together by then, reuniting with the original members from 1973 Machine Head album. Singer Ian Gillan, Guitarest Richie Blackmore, Bassist Roger Glover, Hammond Organ John Lord, DRUMS Ian Pace. Just want to say you two ladies have great taste. More... "HIGHWAY STAR", "LAZY", "SPACE TRUCKIN", "HUSH", "CHILD IN TIME".
1984, the classic Mark II lineup, they have had a ton of lineup changes, it's their first 2 albums, Shades of Deep Purple (1968), The Book of Taliesyn (1968), and then Deep Purple in Rock (1970), Fireball (1971), Machine Head (1972), Who Do We Think We Are (1973) and this album Perfect Strangers (1984)....Look for a live version of Smoke on the Water from Made in Japan (1972)....Ian Gilan sang on the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar (1970) You can look up his performance of "Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say)" on here.
This one came out I think 1987-88 when I was 19-20 years of age , but they go back even further than that. Great reaction ladies and good taste, that’s Ian Gillan on vocals BTW.
Lord, lays into that Hammond organ. The hairs on my neck and arms stood up.😎😎😎
I was 14 in 1984 my guidance counselor was a huge Deep Purple fan and turned me onto this band…Mr Scanlon rest in peace….great guy…
