One thing I've never heard mentioned is that if you install conventional solar panels on your roof you of course make electricity but you're also always in the shade of the panels. Cover your roof and your roof is always completely in the shade.

I installed Reflectix on this inside ceiling and walls of my camping van and it reduced not only heat but also the cold.
