My issue with these new Jakks dolls is that they don't really feel like they're sticking with the "Disney bounding" theme, other than this Ursula doll. The Disney bounding concept is about referencing the Disney characters and/or evoking their style, which the original dolls and Ursula handled really well. Meanwhile, four of the five Jakks dolls have images of the characters printed directly on the tops, and to me that just reads as souvenir merchandise from the parks, rather than bounding.
The first wave Jasmine doll had Jasmine printed on her t-shirt. I feel like Jakks went a little more "fashion inspired by" than strictly Disneybouning because anyone who wears a fur coat to a theme park is completely insane. Wearing character shirts to a park is more feasible than closet cosplay or sewing outfits for most people.

Saaaame. She’s so pretty! I want Ursula & maybe Stitch (the doll is quite pretty from what I’ve seen) but I want the Mickey girl so bad I can taste it.
I had the pleasure to work on a few Apparel Graphics and Textile Design for Jakk's Pacific on production. So I always am excited to see the projects on the shelves!
I think there are definitely positive and negatives to each. Wave 1 gave us inset eyes, but they have to have their legs crossed to sit. I also wasn’t crazy about the hair with the exception of Belle and Snow White. For wave 2 they can now sit but no inset eyes. I’ve only opened Mickey but her braids are adorable. I can only speak to the details on Mickey but it is great. Little Mickey ears on the bottom of the shoe, functional purses, zipper details on the jacket and fringed details. I’m definitely liking them, but going in knowing these are not exactly the same as wave 1, but the differences aren’t necessarily bad thing.
That's the only one I want. To steal her clothes for my Asian (Tiana) wave 1.
I certainly prefer the inset eyes and miss the Disney Parks balloon, also I feel the Disney Store ones clothes were themed better. However, for these Jakks ones the hair is better quality, the articulation is better and they can actually sit straight now, and I'm glad we got mix and match options.
Nope just the hips are better. All the other joints move less.
I wanted the first wave but wasn't into the characters until Stitch!! Omg she's a summer dream! Love Stitch and the doll is gorgeous 😍 I splurged and got her!
She can sit which the Disney Store one could not so that was a plus for me

I can get my first wave girls to sit, but they lean back a bit when they do and it's really annoying. If these second wave dolls sit better, that will be very welcome. They're so cute.

They also can wear the fashion packs from the Disney store, I put my doll in the Haunted Mansion pack and it is totally cute 🥰
I'm more of a first wave fan. IDK for some reason the inset eyes just give them...charm or...a little life. It's hard to explain! I'm not happy with everything about them (poly hair and they can't sit) but overall I prefer first wave. I agree they just feel more DISNEY lol!

Ursula is awesome. She’s cute you definitely sold her to me. They eyes don’t bother me much. I like either. Definitely the black boot for sure with those pants. Finally I want the Boy and the Merida Fashion Pack. Great video💜

I loved the first wave and got all the first wave dolls, and was upset that the new ones didn't have inset eyes. I'm pretty much over that now, because the new ones are really adorable, regardless. I just hate that they won't go with the original collection because of the eyes. Still, the entire new 2nd wave is fantastic. I saw recently there will be a 5th doll in Wave 2 that will be a white doll with brown hair and brown eyes, which I'm happy about because that's my daughter's coloring. Great review.
I bought Stitch I’ll be curious to see what I think when I unbox her I’m grateful for the same price that at least there’s 2 outfits with shoes & purses. I will say the Disney store ones legs can totally pop off which is a bit annoying. But I’ve heard these ones by Jakks are hard to bend at the knees.
I got the Bambi girl. Just because i really love beige and pink together. She was the only ILY in my Target the other day. I think her face is kinda derpy. But her hair is nice and (except for the boring tall boots)i LOVE the clothes and accessories! I thought i wouldn't like the bubble skirt, but its growing on me.
I really like both waves. i dont have a taget with one of the disney sections near me so i did have to order the 1st wave online. However, i have looked up the jakks ones and my closest taget has them in stock so that's a positive for them.
The only real negative for jakks for me are the eyes, i really love the inset eyes of the disney store ones.
My guess is that Jakks offered to make the dolls for cheaper than what Disney was spending to produce them
Can they share clothes and more importantly, shoes? My niece loves Ursula, but she has some Disney Store dolls and fashion packs. I love that these come with extra fashions but I am a collector, she still plays with her dolls across doll lines and shoes are a thing with her.
Do they have the new fashion packs at Target? Those are the ones I'm really interested in.
Ursulla doll is really cute but I would have never thought she was bounding as Ursulla if the box didn;t say it so I know what you mean about first wave reading more Disney than the new ones

I love these so much and I'm hoping to own all of the dolls
I like the fashions better than the dolls for both waves. I didn't really like the way the original dolls had slightly turned-in eyes, but I do like inset eyes, so neither is perfect for me. Living in Canada, I had to order my first wave dolls and outfits from ShopDisney, and that was expensive. So, my hope is that they are more popular and Amazon in Canada carries them directly to save me shipping costs.
Shes tempting me with her purple hair and her face is gorg, love those boots. I don't collect these but maybe I will get her. I thought the balloons from wave 1 were so cool. Too bad they stopped them.

The painted eyes at least have a high gloss finish. They almost look like inset eyes.
The first wave, I got the Barbie with micro raids and her head won’t stay level
I don't actually like the derpy look that the other dolls have, but the inset eyes are nicer. I like the smile of the Ursula face mold.

I love the new dolls. They might not have inset eyes and dubble jointed knees but at least they can sit properly and have better quality hair (I watched other reviews of them and the reviewers said they have nylon hair. The Disney Store ones have polypropylene, which is why their hair is so dry and stiff).
I hope the Jakks dolls will also be released in Europe. I will get the Stitch one for sure, because she is a brunette and I remember watching the Lilo and Stitch cartoon on tv as a kid and I quite enjoyed it 🙂

Just saw that the Target web site now has these in stock, at least unless they sell out.
I feel like they were special for the first wave then cheaped out in the second wave.
Please note that the disney dolls have problems sitting. I love both dolls 😊.
I haven't dared to say anything about the new wave with the ily dolls. I've heard a lot of positive things and almost nothing negative about the new dolls but honestly they don't beat disney's version. The old ones feel like they have better quality and more thought out, more details and so on. The new ones feel cheap but they are also nice but I won't buy all the dolls.
I feel similarly. The inset eyes were special. The themes of each of the dolls were delightful, the ears were so cute, and the mini food item in the balloons was so fun!! I love, love the first wave and this second wave just isn’t as special to me. I think the themes they chose aren’t engaging (Mickey, Bambi, Stitch, and Ursula), I miss the Mickey ears, I’m so sad about losing articulation in the knee, and the painting eyes just lose me entirely.
Second wave has lovely dolls, but the first wave was special.

ima i don’t rly care for the inset eyes ore the double knee join i much prefer the jakks dolls for the nylon hair the more sturdy bodies and they can actually sit compared to the disney store dolls
I don't like the synthetic hair fiber that use it looks pretty and shiny but it's not good
I did like the faces of the first wave better (Bambi doll has a weirdly huge mouth). I'm not a huge fan of the directions they went on the Stitch doll either but I liked the Bambi and Ursula fashions much more than wave one. The Belle dress is darling but the synthetic edges being heat finished rather than sewn kinda detracted from it and I'm not much of a fan of the atleisure looks the Cinderella and Ariel had going on.
I'll take the extra outfit over the balloon.

She can sit deeper. But her shoulders, elbows, and knees cannot do 90 degree angles or even close. I really prefer the inset eyes and these dolls look CHEAP.
These new ily dolls are amazing. I definitely prefer wave 2 just because they have way better hair quality. The hair on on wave 1 is 🤢
ily doll is way better, i dont like the eyes on the Disney version, they are creepy and they look cross eyed from a distance. from this wave stitch version is the best doll.
