We are The Bygones, who you may also know as Joshua Lee Turner and Allison Young. We are raising funds to record, release, and tour our first full-length album of original music, as completely independent artists.
We met through the internet, started making music together, and enjoyed it so much that this year we started a band. We’ve discovered that we especially love writing music together, and so we’ve decided to finally make our first full-length album of original music.
We’re both looking at this project as a creative blank slate - a chance to make the kind of music we’re most energized by, that’s the most fun for us, that feels the most like who we are. We really believe in the songs that we've written over the past year, and we want to do them justice.
That's where you come in.
Being independent gives us pretty much unlimited creative freedom, but it also poses many challenges, including paying for studio time, compensating musicians and collaborators fairly, manufacturing vinyl, getting the word out about our music, and making a tour happen - all without going into crushing debt.

Since I first found Josh’s music on RUclips, it just blew me away. I am 70+ years and both lived and played guitar a lot in the 60s and 70s. I used to carry songs around in my head from that era as ‘Golden Oldies’ from the big names like The Beatles, The Stones, Clapton & Cream, Dire Straits, etc, until I came across Josh on RUclips who has the ? transcendent ? musical ability to cover them all with the musicians he plays with, or just on his own!
In short, this new record has to be a big winner, and I would dearly love to see him and Alison and his musical mates on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury next year. Why not?! Uniquely top musicians deserve it!
It's unbelievably humbling to see you two succeed with this Kickstarter. Truly I respect every single one of your backers so much, you're all absolutely awesome to support them like this.

The music of these two kept me sane and feeling connected to others through Covid lockdown. If I could fund this album, build them an entire recording studio, and then build them palaces in the sky, I would.

I so wanted to put in my contribution on kickstarter for a pre-order, but vinyl, which I agree gives good sound reproduction, requires good quality expensive players to avoid the clicks and hisses, or it least it did in the 80s when i switched to CD. Not that I think the bygones will have any need to do so but if a preorder CD becomes available on kickstart, I’m in.
Geez 8 days in and all the good rewards GONE. Not surprised though; this gonna be so easy for the two of you.

@@tygerstripes3752 Oh, I would actually love vinyl if I 1) could afford it, 2) had a record player, 3) could afford one. But I can't right now. I think it goes well with their old-timey vibe. But, yeah, CD would be more affordable and convenient. I can't stand digital music.
