  • PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION - This painting tutorial will take you through easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this dramatic still life image of "ROLLING THE DICE" with acrylic paint. You'll learn simple drawing and painting techniques that will help you to develop powerful dimension in this beautiful and striking image that captures two transparent tetrahedron dice floating mid-air in what is sure to bring back all your fondest memories of casinos, gambling, Can-Can girls, Elvis, weddings, the Rat Pack, magic shows, boxing at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, buffets, the Las Vegas strip and all the glitz and glamour that comes with it. The process is fun and simple, so why not roll the dice and take a chance at painting this fun and unique painting! You will start by painting a black background to set the mood of a classic film noir, and, after adding the emerald green felt with just a few brush strokes, you’ll feel as if you are already sitting in that room, scratching the table with your nails as all those common emotions of anxiety, excitement, and nervousness, stir up inside your belly as you get ready to gamble away your next mortgage payment. Going back to Highschool math class, you’ll use chalk to draw two 3D cubes by simply connecting a few dots with straight lines. Then after applying a simple red base coat, you’ll add highlights and shadows to your dice giving depth and volume to the objects. You'll also learn how to create reflections on the dice with tastefully placed complimentary colors from the surrounding felt to enhance the perspective. The whole time, you will not worry about being perfect on the detail work, yet, at the same time, you will learn how the importance of size-ratio and proportion play a key role in creating the three-dimensional realistic effect of dice. You’ll give your dice a translucent affect by using a rubbing, or scumbling painting technique using very little thin paint to create a shiny gloss illusion giving the painting a photograph look. The dice will appear so real that you’ll feel that they just left your hand and are making their way across the craps table as everyone waits with bated breath. With these simple painting methods, you can paint any color dice, or combination of numbers on the dots that you want to reflect the last time you gambled, or your favorite numeric digits. You could even add poker chips, a stack of money, a cigarette or cigar in an ashtray or your favorite cocktail or alcoholic beverage to the scene. This stunning replication of an ambiguous event will fill your head with thoughts desires and surely make for a conversational masterpiece that will inspire emotion and invoke sentiment. Try your luck at this painting using only 2 brushes and 5 colors. This is the perfect painting for beginners, as well as any art-lover or art enthusiast. Not just a beautiful painting, but an easy painting for beginners. So, let's get painting and let's get sipping!

Hello again Michelle. How you make everything look so real. Like the dice are going to land on snake eyes Im sure. Wouldn’t this be great if you had like a pool table and a he shed. Wonderful talking miss bestie!!! Thank you for sharing your talking and time. I have now finished the stairs to heaven. And plans for window with the breeze but I love the easter bunny. AND because of you and your French macaroons. I went and bought the real thing just to see what all the hoopla was about. Well………rather look at the painting. Lol.
