  • From sweatbox buses to a novelty 'dangleway' and fantasy bridges that never saw a brick laid. Boris Johnson’s design legacy in London left the taxpayer with a bill of more than £940m after his eight years as mayor. The Guardian's design and architecture critic, Oliver Wainwright, takes a tour of the worst monuments to Johnson's ego etched across the capital. He finds out how much they really cost us then and now, and why we're still paying for them.

I don't know much about Sadiq but I'll take your word for him being bad for the sake of this argument.
So because some other politician before him had bad policies, that means that recklessly pouring hundreds of millions into bad projects that leaves little or nothing to show for is not a problem at all? If you're not the worst that has ever been you should not be held accountable for anything you do?

Well violent crime was high under Boris too. The murder rate was rising before he left office. It’s funny how the claims made by BJ about reducing crime don’t quite add up and it’s also very interesting to see the crime rate rise as police funding is cut, £600 million cut from the METs budget approved by BJ as mayor and a policy of closing local police stations. Khan hasn’t performed miracles but it’s pretty hard with one hand tied behind your back by previous policies and the government

The US has people exactly like him; pompous and heartless and selfish...(the trump family, various “celebrities” and socialites, for example)... but i promise you that we aren’t all entitled over here! It’s the bad seeds who are the most visible unfortunately. Their ignorance and lack of awareness and/or care has created this saddening image and it’s shameful to us all. I am not a fan of Boris at all but this video is just pure cynicism. Many of these projecs have given London a fresh identity and have become synonymous with this city in the 21st century, with Londoners becoming quite fond of Boris bikes and the cable cars. On top of that, many of the taxpayer figures are not actually that large in the grand scheme of things.
