Thanks for naming the other guy as I was just getting ready to look him up after he basically said yeah we can play but WAKE UP AND SMELL THE JAM - Vic goes oh yeah, better strap on a deeper pocket and wider groove...heh. but Bongo Guy is pretty rippin and wonder if he played for any bands back in the 80's ish or so...good stuff. Zendrum continues to confound me but I continue to try to learn to actually use complex control surfaces without everyone running for the earplug bucket, so I am impressed by anyone that can jam for any length of time on one or similar.
The other bassist was showing that he can hang with Vic which is cool. When I can play that well I'd like to jam with vic but in a jam session way and less like a bass battling way the bassist was trying out.
It's called a Zendrum. Midi trigger device. Trust me....with the right drum sounds...it's sounds amazing. Example: Zendrum with BFD software. BFD have tons of sampled drums, cymbals, full kits, different brand of drums etc. That Zendrummer wasn't using the good samples is all. :)
Drums sound best when played with finesse. A dynamic drummer is a powerful player. Kinda hard to play when the drummer is at the same volume the whole time.

The other bass player Completely lacking musicality groove and feeling. NO DYNAMICS AT ALL!! Sounds like a machine with that stupid compressor... he dulls everybody trying to think he sounds cool but just shows how immature he is musically...
