Wonderful talk and clear explanation of the balance that meditation can offer with craving. Thank you for giving some scientific understanding of this process available to all of us. I work in a hospital setting and it's amazing to watch the benefits of Lovingkindness meditation to folks in here. (Only 30 minutes a week, with all novice meditators)
FYI Facebook and other companies (the vast majority of tech companies) unequivocally are trying to increase addiction and attention grabbing. "User engagement," and other things they call it, but they are absolutely doing it, and absolutely doing it on purpose. There are a small number of companies actively trying to counter it, and they deserve all the love and money we can give them, but they are a tiny minority. Edited to add: A guy at 1:18:15 talks about it a little bit.
