The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Excellent point! What works for one doesn't always work for another. Although, I don't fault those who do divorce because not everything is worth saving when toxicity and damaging emotional and psychological (of course physical abuse) and other deal breakers that were made known well before marriage. In your case, I'm happy that your marriage weathered the storms! And I hope y'all continue having many more years to come!!!!

In the UK, we don't call a dentist a doctor. It's a completely different profession. Also, a teacher is also a profession and a well-respected job.
Dentists are doctors. They deal with oral care. There are different types of doctors.
I've never heard them called that in the US.
In the US dentist are doctors because they go to medical school. Teachers are also considered well respected and professional. I think this mother in law is just bitter that the one daughter in law is a surgeon and the other is a teacher because the difference in pay

I will never understand people who use excuses like "She's your mom at the end of the day" and "Our future kids deserve to know their Grandma" in regards to toxic people you should cut out of your life. Aaron had the right idea about going no contact with his mother. She's pitting her sons against each other and using her bias for "golden child" Grant to put Aaron down. And you honestly think she wouldn't be pulling that crap on her grandkids??

I have a mother-in-law like that. She's always talking about her second-born, as if the first doesn't exist. It's annoying and she can't understand at all why her first son is so distant and angry when she calls. And since the second-born died, she remembers that she has another son. But now, after so many years of ignoring his existence, he doesn't want to listen to her problems. Fortunately, contact is only sporadic... and I'll be damned if I get involved... I know what it's like to be ignored as a child.

Well Gail they are fully grown adults that don't need YOUR permission to fart let alone go out of the country. Allison is a freaking boss, and it's about time daughter in laws put their rotten mother-in-law in their place and let them know they don't hold the cards in this situation. I would LOVE to live in Australia. Gail this is what happens when you TRY to control your grown ass children and their families.
LOL we do have poisonous spiders AND snakes, sharks, crocodiles, jellyfish etc, but they're not a big deal. You're more likely to see hand-sized huntsman spiders than anything else. They're fine. Good house guests.

@@jazzyjonas6646 Huntsmans? Yes, but not really dangerous to adults, certainly small children and pets could become ill, but they don't bite often, they prefer to scuttle away to live another day. I have never heard of a death from a huntsman bite.
