Man I always thought water pumps were very intimidating. What a easy fix to do in the driveway. I wish I would of known it was this easy when I changed my battery, alternator and belt! Thank you for this video! Between you and chrisfix anything on this car is possible to do without a mechanic haha
Seriously he’s not lying I just used Danny and Chris video to fix my fuel pump easy step by step instructions and saved me hundreds and next it’s removing my alternator and seeing if it’s cracked. I bumped a lady and then some lady backed into me. Trying to find this coolant leak it’s dripping on the right side of the radiator. Anyhow, videos are easy and helpful praise God for knowledgeable people like them saving us from money hungry manipulative mechanics
Another question thermostat I run a 180 degree one. Im thinking of going back to the 192. I live in central pa so it gets humid. what do think? It seems to run hot even with the 180. But thats why Im changing the water pump and flushing out the rad.
I would fill the entire system with new coolant and for that the typical prestone all makes all models is fine. You can save some money buying the concentrate and adding distilled water for the other half
great tutorial, but i have an off topic question. What type of subframe connectors are installed on this car? I noticed they looked like tubular connectors as you were describing jacking up the car? Another more on topic question is have you ever experienced a mustang gt cooling system build what seems like exxcesive pressure after high rpms? If so did you find the cause to be a head gasket issue? Keep up the good videos.
The subframe connectors on the car in the video were kenne brown. They are nice but consider what else they trap in on a frame cage style. I haven’t had any over-heating issues that weren’t simply air in the system or an actual bad water pump or radiator
Hey I got a 1996 4.6 2v with 63k original miles. The guy I got it from said it's a blown headgasket but I checked the oil and dipstick many times. Clean oil no water or white stuff lol. It boils coolant out of the overflow tank but the car dosent ever overheat. I've drove it 2 hours straight and it never went past normal temp. Just coolant comes out under the over flow tank cap and I have no idea why. It's not a little amount that it dumps out. I drove it 1 mile and it lost an entire bottle of antifreeze. I refilled it at work and the car wasent even warm so I took off the cap and filled what I had into that little tank but I'm not sure if I'm willing to risk damaging the car sence the low miles and all. What could be the issue? The dude before me changed the intake and all that stuff out because he thought they could have been bad but the same issue still comes back. I really love how the car handles and sounds so fixing it would be very nice and helpful
Properly burping the car and the radiator cap itself would be what I would look at first. The cooling system is pressurized, so without it being right (I.e a bad cap) it will boil quickly . ruclips.net/video/fYvDqtGPyAM/видео.html
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage I hope thats what it is. I can only drive it for like 10 mins before it looses all the coolant and the heater stops working. Thats how i can tell
No, only when you get into the radiator replacement where you have transmission cooler lines that go into the radiator. The water pump should all be the same

Love your work brother!!! Your you tube channel has taught me so much!
I'm glad to hear that-thanks!
im about to tackle this project with more confidence after this video.
Thanks for making this video Danny
Thank you this helped me out. I know it's an older video but grateful I saw it.
your process of filling the cooling system also get rid of any air pockets, i never thought about doing it that way, next time i will
Danny, dont forget to hook up that vent tube that runs from the drivers valve cover to the air intake....
That wasn’t part of the repair process for this job...but thanks for noticing...
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage yeah i knew that. I just happened to notice it and thought I'd mention it...
Detailed information . Awesome video.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully it helps out someday

I stay 180 degree so it opens sooner
Thanks!
What antifreeze coolant do you recommend.

Is that a short or long water pump?
Is there a different process for water pump exchange for automatic vs manual?
No, only when you get into the radiator replacement where you have transmission cooler lines that go into the radiator. The water pump should all be the same
So, the engine won’t try to turn over once you get the belt off if it’s automatic?
Never mind, got it switched out. Thank you!
I have 1994 cobra 5.0 little different but I’ll give a try thanks
Am I thr only one that thinks that the crown vic should have lived on ot had a 5.0
I have both an 03 Mustang GT & an 04 Grand Marquis LS Ultimate Edition. The GM was the best car Ford ever built that's for sure!
