I set it a tiny bit higher than the threshold because I find at times it can be a little slow to close after a transmission and does static for a split second. Also it can make the scanning rate slower too.
Good explanation. Thank you for the video! Wish my Baofeng UV-82 would have a turn knob for the squelch. It’d be easier to adjust rather than using CHIRP.
Thanks Man, this video helped me a lot to understand Squelch. But now I have a doubt. I got a Uniden BC125AT Scanner, for Civil Aviation Scanning, some of the communications are lost, i.e. Control Tower transmits and then Pilot responds, but I cant hear what the pilot says at all. I realized of the problem because it seems like the ATC is talking to himself. Would it be happening because a setting in my Scanner or just because the antenna it has is too short in range? Thanks for the prompt response.
And apparently, you don't know shit either! I mean if you did, it wouldn't be necessary for you to look up how to Understand squelch?! Nah, i think he knows way more than you fucktardio.
Thanks for the clear explanations. I was gifted an old Realistic Pro-36, yesterday, and was trying to figure out the purpose of the squelch.
How do I go about getting a squelch installed on wife?
just like a noise gate.. you set the threshold for the gate to open and let the sound through..
Thanks for video..many years ago

I fly commercial and can tell you that it’s most probably because the plane is probably too far away and their transmission is too weak
@@iicaie Thanks
So I have a radio that has 0-9 squelch levels. When set to 0, there is constant static. No matter the channel. Should it then be on 1 or 9?
1 maybe. I have mine on 3
Can you make a tutorial on how to use a scanner I just got one and don't o oe what I'm doing
Very informative video. Thanks!

And you do? You're the expert?
Let's see your videos tough guy.

Phew. Listening to this video made me question everything I know about scanners. Then I read your comment.
