Great day on the reef with even greater company! Thank you Johnny, what an absolute pleasure being on board with you! Keep up the incredible content! 🙏🏽
The reef is the best place to spear mate. Any of the reefs will hold good fish on the outer edges. Just stay away from the green zones. Welcome to Airlie 😀
Thanks John! Appreciate the support! Spearing on any of the outer reefs should be insane for you! It’s full of life. If you are into spearing pelagics then the outer edge of the reef is best. If you are into crays, blueys and trout than the blue holes are the go!
Poor form offering up the red throat to the GT ! It’s hasn’t got a fighting chance when hooked! Take it for a feed or release it, thought you were a better man than that!
Hey man! Interesting comment… what are your thoughts on live baiting then?? Personally I have, & I don’t see the difference in using a Mac tuna to catch a mackerel or a reefie to catch a big GT or any live bait example for that matter. Oh and if you didn’t continue to watch, Joel was holding up that red throat - we did eat it 😀
Appreciate the feedback, although things like this don’t usually happen out on the reef too often. I hope you can understand how exciting this moment was to potentially get the GT to eat another lure. But yes… The Red Throat never had a fighting chance, it was always going to end up in the esky 😁
I pulled both my red throat in as you saw in the video. Was not intentional to harm any fish. Joel cooked his red throat for dinner the next night. Big fish eat small fish all the time. It’s how the ecosystem works I am pretty sure.
@@johnnychowjc I know mate, I have a yeoiwww counter, top draw vids, I usually giggle and scream like a girl... bit "yeah" gets a good smashing in deep and high pitch voices!
These vids just keep getting better and better Johnny! That drone footage was epic.
Thanks Rob! Didn’t quite get the hook up on the drone but will give it another go sometime. Cheers legend 😀

@@johnnychowjc yeah mate might hit the water in the coming weekend 👌
Hi johnny how are you mate? I only just move to Airlie just wanted a few pointer on where to spear some fish and not worried about sharks.
The reef is the best place to spear mate. Any of the reefs will hold good fish on the outer edges. Just stay away from the green zones. Welcome to Airlie 😀
Love the video bro. A few mates and I are gonna be in Whitsunday this march to spear. Any suggestions?

Hey how do you reduce background noise of water and wind to get such clear audio?
Hey mate which part of the video are you referring to? I haven’t done anything specific that I recall.
@@johnnychowjc ok it's just when I use my gopro it picks up more wind noise and the water laying against the boat
What lures were you using, size and weight?
Hey mate I was using the 120mm Westin swim 60g. Was as green and silver colour.
awesome vid mate. what type of lures were you using when you caught the trout at the start?
Thanks matey. Was using Westin sinking stick baits on the flats 😀
Poor form offering up the red throat to the GT !
It’s hasn’t got a fighting chance when hooked!

what is it with all the yeooowing, every tuber is doing it with a rod, sounds silly!!!!
It’s just a way we express our happiness mate when we land a fish. I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. What do you say or do when you land a fish? 😜
