I've followed your directions/ advice for 2 years and the results are incredible. My vineyard is thriving! Thanks for a very informative and entertaining channel.
Well hello Shane, it’s been a while. Great tips on the video, you are my hero when it comes to muscadines😂. Take care and have a blessed week my friend.
Greta tips Shane! Great explanations! Potted are certainly better than bareroot. A trip to Ison's is worth it. (If one can't make it to Ison's to pickup and want a potted plant... Bottom's Nursery will ship potted.) Trick on the Blue X tubes, install the zip tie backwards so it's removable. Then you can undo it and slide the tube up to clean growth. I'm torn on their use too, but they do help protect from deer eating the young growth to the ground. Excited about spring and getting our vines ready too. Actually planted 5 new varieties last week. (Up to 13 varieties on our place.)
Shane, hello from Franklin. It’s good to see you posting again, I’ve missed seeing your videos. I just pruned my muscadines and planted a new Carlos, another Noble and 3 new Black Spanish bunch grapes. I may be heading back to see you for Carlos this year.
Got all my plants pruned the last week of January. Weather has already begun to warm a bit here in West Texas. Good to see I did it properly. Look forward to seeing the weed control video when it comes on line. Happy Spring Shane and Blessings to you and yours.
I'm so glad you had good luck with Ison's nursery. I ordered 11 vines, 2 raspberries from them. Almost all of them died. Fertilized just like they recommended. The 2 or 3 that's left hasn't even made it to the wire. I've never felt so cheated!
I hope you contacted them. They usually warranty everything. I've been using them for years had some die but they took care of me. Lots of reasons for that much dead plants. Could have burnt up with fertilizer or soil or frost. I hate to hear that for sure.
Good to see you back. Had me worried. You do it about like I do. I use the hedge trimmers to clean it up and then get to whacking! I'd like to see a horticulturist come and figure out exactly how much new growth these put on in a year. You really can't make a mistake , unless you cut the main vine. Last year, I had chosen a couple of new laterals to replace some main laterals that were struggling. I'm busy pruning and cut one of the new laterals! No problem though. It will grow back. I still have a few vines to do but need to set up some propagation on a few 50 + year-old vines at my parent's old place. I'm going to remove those vines this fall because they've really cut back on production due to the woods encroaching and cutting off the sunlight. We just got back from 2 weeks in Montana. Glacier and Yellowstone in winter was a spectacular trip!
Glad to see your back and look forward to you sharing your knowledge on the muscadines and the homestead! God bless you and yours! Prayers for a productive and healthy year for your family!
Always great to see and learn from your videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Did you do any planting over the winter? If so, did you have a couple of really cold spells? I'm a little concerned about the Ison vines I planted right before we had another "wintergeddon" for a couple of weeks. It's starting to warm up now. Fingers crossed.
Love your content! Very informative! I started with Black Beauty, Paulk, and Carlos for my self fertiles! What verities do you have in your u-pick vineyard? I started with 20 plants
I'm just getting inti growing muscadines and find your videos very helpful. Ison's does not carry Nesbit and I was wondering if you know anything about Willis Orchard company. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I have a question about planting, a friend of mine planted two for me and I think that they are too deep. There is one inch from the ground to the first shoot off the main trunk. Do you think that's too deep?
If you don't really worry about frost in winter I would say sure. Especially if you way down south FL. Muscadines have shallow roots so roots could grow up in the mulch freeze and die up here
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia thanks, I got a plant some blueberry plants in a pot just to get them rooted out in a root ball with dirt would you happen to know if just regular potting soil is okay for the first year for a blueberry plant
That feeling when your favorite tv show finally comes back on in the new year! Hope you enjoyed some well deserved time off.
Lol hilarious

Perfect timing. Can you use the cuttings to propagate new plants? 😀🌱🐢
Yes definitely
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgiaI have tried a few times with minimal success. Do you have any tips or have you done a video on this subject already?
Glad to see you back making content. I missed my favorite youtuber.

I planted my muscadines from Ison's last fall. I can't wait for them to get this large. Thanks for all the information.
Awesome they should go crazy this year

What verities do you have in your u-pick vineyard? I started with 20 plants
Ison, Black Beauty, Carlos,Supreme and Darlene
How far apart should the rows be Mr. Shane?
10 ft between rows

Sorry never heard of them
I’ve been missing yawl!
Thanks. Much needed break
I truly understand!
I have a question about planting, a friend of mine planted two for me and I think that they are too deep. There is one inch from the ground to the first shoot off the main trunk. Do you think that's too deep?
I don't think it will be a problem
Hey when will you spray for weeds and grass around your muscadines?
Pretty soon. Just before spring to help your plants get a good start
I was actually talking toy daughter about doing it now because it's warming up. But still prunning
Thanks il probably spray mine soon then also!
What gauge wire should I use if I am only planting 2 plants
I always use 9 gauge
Hey do you think it's okay to mulch, you're muscadine Vines I'm in Florida
If you don't really worry about frost in winter I would say sure. Especially if you way down south FL. Muscadines have shallow roots so roots could grow up in the mulch freeze and die up here
I didn't know the roots could grow up through the ground into the mulch
Yes just shallow root plants.
I need to know how to kill the grass and not the plant
Killzall, you can get from Amazon
