    As it happened Game 3 was Jim Palmer's final major league victory, coming against Steve Carlton in the crucial tiebreaker of a World Series. Son Jamie and I--thanks, Dr. John, for the tickets--were behind the plate for that one, which was just about the closest game I ever saw. We were there, sons Jon and Jordan, a young lady and I, for Game 5 too, and don't miss Tito Landrum's LONG running catch to start the 9th inning for Scotty's shutout.

    Such a well produced highlight video; not too long, not too short, and NO TV announcer clips!; Just Mel Allen and some great video, music and editing! Probably the best World Series highlight video ever produced!

      @@Jiltedin2007 To be clear for some odd reason some folks tend to only want to remember the wins & NOT losses and that is why LBJ is deemed the goat when there are at least 3 major stars(Jordan,Russell & Kobe..Shaq too)that have stats & better finals records but whatever...people will only want to remember the departed Joe Morgan for the 2 big WS wins w the reds not ones that he lost(72 to an undermanned A's team & this Orioles,by which he aided by slipping off 3rd but hey...). Sometimes guys like Schmidt have an incredible series(like in 80)or a terrible one(83). It is what it is. Give me winners like Paul ONiell,Derek J & Bernie W that knew how to handle the post season pressure.

      He had a few hits and walks. Nothing major. Just enough to contribute because the Phillies were even more awful at the plate than the Orioles. The player who really struggled was Mike Schmidt. 1 for 20. .050 BA, 0 RBIs, 0 Runs, 0 Walks, 0 2Bs, 0 3Bs, 0 HRs, 1 Error.

    Look at the Orioles' subdued reaction, like this is no big deal. Talk about hubris. Well guess what, you haven't so much as won a pennant in 35 years since. Guess that's not a big deal either.
    Orioles fans, which was better: When Earl Weaver was the manager and the "Orioles Way" was pitching, defense and three-run homers, and the team had lots of stars and won its division title every year? Or when the Orioles Way became all about the celebration of Cal Ripken and the pursuit of his record, during which the team had Ripken and a roster full of bums, and more often than not stunk?
    My impression is that it's a toss-up.

      2 words: Peter Angelos.
      1994-2018: 7 winning seasons in 25 years. 2 division championships in 25 years. 3-12 record in ALCS games. 15-18 overall record in playoff games. 0 AL pennants. 0 World Series trophies. Only have eclipsed 90 wins 3x in 25 years. 10x the O's have exceeded 90 losses including the 115 loss season in 2018.

    • @fairfaxcat1312
      @fairfaxcat1312 5 лет назад +2

      jesusisnotallright s Clearly the poisonous Angelos crime family-yes Lord Peter has parlayed his political connections in Annapolis to become the state’s lead attorney in several personally profitable class action lawsuits-has tight-fistedly destroyed our storied franchise. Additionally the sport is rigged because it refuses to implement a real salary cap with teeth. The major league teams-half the MLB clubs are really AAA NYY cuckolds-will not always get to the World Series but they are set up by the league to get into the playoffs 70 to 80 percent of the time. Fans of many teams consider themselves fortunate if they see their teams in the playoffs two or three times in a decade.
