So-o-o I take it that you’ve been playing guitar for more than a few months. At my current pace I should be able to catch up to you in about 100 years. Great job brother…..truly impressive.
I know you meant it as a compliment to him, but only compare yourself to yourself yesterday. Get a little better each day, I promise it won’t take a100 years. 🎉😊
Holy sh!t, brother…. I never thought I’d see the day when we would have a 20w amp that could get tones like that. Wow. I’d love to see you with a Little Sister to see what kind of tones you could pull out of that amp. I know the Dirty Shirley was very close to a Smallbox, IMHO. But, IMO it’s also a more versatile amp, that cleans up incredibly well. You’re one of the few people who are so good at dialing in tones, especially, those killer ultra-percussive, mid-focused, hot-plexi tones, that it would be fun to see what you could do with a Little Sister.
I just wish it had the simple clean channel separate and switchable rather than converting gain types with the same EQ, more like the JJ JR and this would be ideal.
@@stratty316 With a one channel amp, even if you roll back the volume, its never going to be as clean as a dedicated clean channel. It'll still have some breakup to it. Plus you have to mess with your volume during a part of the song where you may not want to. That's the main downside of a one channel amp.
I actually prefer single channel amps that can go from clean to high gain. Look into “underdrive” pedals. They make a dirty amp clean. It’s like adding a clean channel. But I actually prefer it to separate channels.
Excellent demo. Thank you for doing this correctly--hard rock humbucker equipped guitar. So many other demos guys just wank, bury the "true" tone in a bunch of effects, play like a grandma through some obscure guitar with lipstick pickups, etc.
@@ethanraley9067 Absolutely. It's a bit winded, but here goes: I actually picked up the Little Sister, which is kinda funny because I had no idea it existed. I was on Sweetwater looking for the Dirty Shirley, and the LS popped up. Anyway, the amp literally represents every tone I love from the guitar hero's of 70's & 80's, short of maybe SRV. I can leave the EQ settings almost as-is, (short of the mids) for the most part, and just use the gain knob to get a really nice warm clean, or killer cranked, throaty, Marshall setting. So, the tones, versatility, and simplicity are why I did it. *That said, the LS will NOT give you the killer tones you're hearing here, that he did a spectacular job of dialing in.* But, the PT is (IMO) a very one dimensional amp. That amp needs to be exactly what you want, and ALL that you want. And, that wasn't worth it for $1800. It's a one-trick, pony that does that one trick very well. The LS get's VERY close, though. Per Friedman's recommendation I also picked up the Buxom Boost which compliments this amp incredibly well, and launches it into borderline metal territory. I couldn't be happier. Short of spending a lot of money, this is the best amp I've owned. *One thing that's incredibly important that I've learned from watching RUclips videos, and recording. You've GOT to get the amp in front of you, with YOUR guitar, in YOUR room. I've gone through $10K worth of amps, that were all bad-asses in their own right. They sounded great on the demo's, but when in front of me, were flubby, harsh, etc... Not blaming the amp, just saying there's a lot of variables involved in guitar tones.* For instance, I ALWAYS thought I wanted the PT20....till I actually bought one, and got it in front of me, and I hated it. There's something about the DS/LS that just "feels" good to play. There's something to offer at just about any gain position. The gain structure is perfect, and forgiving. There's a guy on here named Adam Barker who did a spectacular demo of how versatile the DS was. The LS is the same amp, just more gain. Here's one of the clips that sold me: ruclips.net/video/bJ5UkhhAX10/видео.html It's the only demo that sounded "true" in my own studio. Hope that helps! 👍
@@ethanraley9067 I get it....I'm in the exact same boat. For what it's worth, I using one of those cheap Bugera attenuator that sounds stunningly good. Good luck with it!
Thanks for the demo… you covered a lot of ground. I did have a few questions…. Does the amp handle volume roll off from moderate gain setting? I was also wondering if you can get good higher gained sounds at lower volume? Or does the master need to be up fairly loud? Great playing btw… the bit with the delay engaged sounded next level (studio)! This seems like a pretty wide range of gain tones can be had… I mostly interested in the vh type tones though.
Sweet sounds from this amp. I'm considering one of the 20 watt amp heads from Friedman. I'm also considering a Supro Black Magick 25 watt head with Reverb
Thanks for the excellent demo I’m still trying to decide between this and the little sister for the most flexibility feel free to share your thoughts and opinions
If it helps your decision any, I talked to Michael Nielsen (the main friedman demo guy) about which friedman model to get. I told him I mostly play the 80s hard rock. He said if I don't really need a clean channel then to get the pink taco V2. He said the volume knob cleanup is really good. Alternatively you can get something like the victory dutchess preamp pedal and throw it in the fx loop if you ever need that pristine clean sound. I have the victory the copper (vox-ish) preamp pedal for this purpose
@@iann8733 Wow, thank you so kindly for the reply, really appreciate your efforts on my behalf!!! …I must have researched Michael’s vid 50 times, and, the more I do, the more I think that this Taco V2 is prefect for my objectives. Thanks again!!! 🙏🙏🙏
@@Basedboomerchadbear I was in the same boat as you. There's so much crossover with all the friedman models that I was constantly second guessing which one to get. Ultimately I decided to go with the PT20 V2. Haven't got it yet but that's definitely the one I am going with

Thank you! I bought a PTV2 because of this video! 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic playing and a great demo of this amp! 👏🏻
Outstanding playing. Coaxing some nice tones from that Taco. The Heritage sounds real nice
Actually impressed by the cleans here. I'd imagine a Strat would be a bunch more clean.
Best sounding demo of this amp I've heard so far.
Excellent demo! Dave Friedman owes you a commission for this one!
Sounds pretty good for what I'm looking for. Not a super high gain madness but a beautiful crunch sound.
Sounds killer. Great playing!
Amazing little powerhouse it seams 💪
Fantastic playing and demo!! Thank-you!
nice 80s shred action goin on there!
Great video and great playing. Really seems to do everything well
Nice Jamming. I like the 100% playing and typed in settings.
Nice demo & great playing! 🤘🏻

NGL, you almost had me there at the beginning hahahaha
A true rock n roll amp!
great playing and awesome tone... would like to hear you with the little sister.....

Wildwood guitars sells a PT 20 with a simple clean channel. Basically it’s a JJ Jr voiced as a Pink Taco. It also has a sat and fat switch
Roll off the volume and it cleans up. At least V1 does. I like the rolled off clean better than the simple clean on my Runt20.

Nice demo and playing!
Are you Fluffs dad? Killer demo! On the fence between this and the JEL-20
Played both these, and preferred the Little Sister to this one, personally. This is a REALLY good demo f this amp, though. Best I've seen so far.

I always liked the 59 in the neck.
Great vid!!
That really sounds fun great! You think it has enough volume to gig with? 20watts is it?
STUPID loud. Will keep up with any drummer
