Hi Chuck , I agree with you about the cast iron pans .My mother in law has one for years that’s outlasted many a non stick pans . Every thing cooked on it , cleaned with dish soap just keeps on working. Hope you get some good weather! God bless
Most of those soap fears come from the days of strong lye soaps.. The newer ones aren't as bad.. I still heat & oil mine after every use.. just as a precaution

It's kind of like when you used to sneak a drink or a smoke when you were young just to be a bad boy.. Now it's just sneaking in a sloppy Joe or putting the TP roll on backwards...lol

Never knew there were so many rules to cast iron. My dad cooked everything in his,only problem was that breakfast tasted like supper and supper tasted like breakfast. 😂 he never washed it and it stayed on the old wood cook stove most all the time. Yea my camp skillets are pretty much like that...lol Sometimes scrub them out with a little wood ash after I burn something in them... Hard to keep a skillet properly seasoned when cooking over fire. At least for me...lol
