A thing that helps that you can do as well, is to hold the left stick in the direction that you would hold it in to dive back to the base. Hold it that way so if the pitcher picks off, your runner automatically dives back without you having to worry about it. Keep holding the left stick to the left while you’re taking your lead and until you want to start stealing. Once you’re ready to start stealing, flick the left stick to the right. So when you see him lift his leg, flick to the advance direction.
When base running, you can hold Left Button after you have your lead to lean to the left. Doing this can help you get back to the base faster on a pickoff. Although it makes it take a little longer to start running to the next base. If you hold Right Button, you can lean to the right. This makes it easier to start running to the next base, and helps you get here faster. Although it’s takes a little longer to get back to the base on a pickoff. I know this is true for MLB The Show 21 at least.
