    Gave me some ideas to change up my project planner

    This was EXTREMELY helpful Kaitlin! Thank you for creating this. I have taken screenshots so that I can try them out. I have been wanting to create something more to break down my projects. Right now, I created the traditional bullet journal monthly like you do with the numbers vertically down that page but I have this spread go over two pages and then I make sections vertically one for each of the four different classes that I teach, research projects and then one for meetings (I do rely on my outlook calendar for meetings but I also like to see them in my bujo for helping me figure out time for planning). I have tasks on the calendar under the appropriate project. However, even sometimes grading a module for one course has many parts such as blog posts, responses, papers, quizzes, etc.... and your method would help me be able to break those things down. This is important to me because sometimes I only have smaller pockets of time and when I just look at column on the monthly and it says Module 8 due, I instantly think about all the hours of work involved in looking at student work from Module 8 and then I don't start. Your method will help me make better use of my time! Thank you Kaitlin! I hope grad school is going well for you. How much longer do you have?

      Hey Karen! I'm so happy to hear that, I really do hope that its helpful, especially for all those modules! Grad school is going well, I have the rest of this semester and then one more in the winter before I graduate! It's kinda wild that it will be all online, but right now I don't really mind it at all!

    Great video. These kind of spreads are the ones that are so hard to find on RUclips and Pinterest.

    It's so interesting to see someone else's project management. I'm a Research Manager, managing multiple projects & have different roles for each project. I'm a data coordinator for 2 projects and a lead on 2 other projects. When I'm a lead, I find that project communication is important, especially when we're all teleworking. Do you have any group projects & how you plan?

      Hey StatGoddess, Research Manager, wow, that sounds like a very interesting position, is it similar to what Project Managers do, but more focused on research projects? Ok, curiosity aside, let me answer your question, YES I have TONS of group work! I 300% agree with you communication is essential, I usually try to approach group projects by setting small checkpoint due dates for different deliverables (just like those in the project gameplay) so that everyone in the group can get their work done before the deadline and then there's time for feedback and modifications. I find this is a good way to make sure everyone is on the same page!

      @@KaitlinGrey I have taken the PMP course and I'd say there are similarities.

    Very helpful and simple as bullet journal should be. Thank you for sharing!! This kind of spreads is so hard to find on other social media. I'm finishing my Grad school as well and it can be really tricky to track progress and due dates.

      Omg yes my grad program had a ton of due dates as well!! When I was trying to keep track of them all I found keeping a monthly deadlines list I could check off helped me stay organized and boosted morale haha!

    Hello ! I love how you break the projects without spending too much time. As always very helpful! I have noticed those brass tags. Where do you buy? Thank you!

      Thank you so much Diana! So sorry, I thought I linked them below but I didn't 😅 The brass tabs are called the Midori Chiratto Index Clip (in the colour orange, but they look brass!) and I also use a Book Dart in Bronze to mark off my daily log! I got both of them at a local stationery store in Toronto, but they are also available on jet pens!

    Interesting! Myself, I always add my own due dates for a week ahead of the actual due date to provide buffer, just in case!

    Thanks for sharing! It's cool to see how others project plan in their journals! Love your lettering! Just a note though, I'm pretty sure "deliverable" means end product, which would be your paper. I think you might be referring to milestones/key milestones instead. It's just a technicality though hahaha. So as long as it makes sense to you, it doesn't really matter, I guess haha~ thanks again for sharing:)

    • @KaitlinGrey
      @KaitlinGrey  4 года назад +2

      Thank you so much Raya! That's a good point about the term 'deliverable', the reason I prefer to use that term over milestone, because I feel like the term milestone is more descriptive of a point in time versus a tangible piece of work (if that makes sense?). However, I encourage you to use whichever word best suits you in your own journal if you want to recreate any of these spreads 😄
