"Altered Beast" has the best starting sequences to any Video Games in my opinion! "Rise From Your Grave!" That gives me goose bumps every time & i just have to play it!
Mr. Riggs, you never fail to put a smile on my face with your Sega Genesis videos. Ghouls n Ghost, Herzog Zwei, Road Rash and Golden Axe are just a few of the amazing Genesis games I love and have so much nostalgia for. I caught myself watching this video with my mouth hanging open in amazement. Thank you sir
I've been enjoying Truxton lately. You're right about copies being hard to come by. I've got the Mega Everdrive Pro. That's the cart everyone should own
Starflight (1991) Sega Genesis port is #1 in my heart.

More people should know about that. I randomly got it off eBay because I'm collecting for Genesis. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up spending HOURS on that game.
I do not find it clunky at all.! It would have been perfect if the two player mode was full split screen n not letter boxes into a corner . That game is absolute addiction
I was totally a latecomer to the Genesis library, I bought the Sega Genesis collection for PSP back in 2008 and got a real kick out of it. My favorites are the Shinobi series (all the games! except for the GBA one which I played when I was even younger), Vectorman, Ristar, Outlander, Streets of Rage 1 and 2, and so on. And of course, I'm a HUGE Sonic fan, basically played every game except for a few of the token crap-tier ones. I even defend a lot of Sonic games that other people take a poop on...I'm a fanboy for sure.
Mystic Defender was originally a licensed game in Japan. It was “Kujaku Ou 2: Geneijou”, and it was based off of an anime/manga. They just stripped it of it’s license for the western release. Just thought i’d mention that
Mystic Defender's based on the manga Kujaku Ō. The manga was published in 1985, while there's a live action film based on the manga as well, it premiered in 1988. Gordon Liu and Kara Wai are in the film.
The Kremlin isn't a Russian developer. Rocket Knight Adventures isn't a one and done. He forgot he did the original Toejam and Earl, and covered it again, while ignoring the sequel. This was painful.
Mystic Defender was based on a Japanese anime/manga and there was a Master System game (Spellcaster) before Mystic Defender that was on the Master System.
I remember when I was 6 I went in with my mom to rent a game, I was def watching James Bond Movies. Maybe I was 7 or 8. Walked around I saw James Pond, "In My head I thought" wow its a james bond game paid no attention to the fish, went home played it for one min and as a 6 year old or whatever i did not appreciate James Pond, I did not think there was a James bond game, and was def looking for it.
i know someone's already said it before, but Sonic 3D Blast DID come out for Sega Saturn. Why it has totally different music altogether as opposed to just arranged versions of the Genesis tunes is beyond me.
You said you never saw A Dinosaurs Tale, just informing you the movie version is called We're Back A Dinosaurs Tale.

I hate to be THAT guy, but you showed the same ToeJam & Earl game twice. 1:35:00 The 2nd one, Panic on Funkatron came out 1993 and was a lot different than the original. I actually prefer the sequel.
@@krisfrederick5001 is absolute right. it is objectively a poorly done game. Its short, uneven difficulty, cheap deaths, enemies can juggle you ( this is before the short acting invincibility became a standard after getting hit in platformers). Its cool for people who played it back then, because it was a pack in game, a lot of people have massive nostalgia.

Love your work John... I fall asleep listening to your videos (!)
I know that sounds bad, but I find them SOOTHING x
The guy is a radio host for a living, so that radio host voice is indeed epic++
I enjoy these comp videos. They are nice to let play while I want to just lay down and zone out on content.
These videos keep me on the treaadmill/elliptical!
The Sega Genesis will always hold the #1 place in my heart right beside the N64 and Ps2
I just stumbled across you and gotta say your videos are awesome, especially the marathon vids. Deff subscribed and keep it up!
"Altered Beast" has the best starting sequences to any Video Games in my opinion!
"Rise From Your Grave!" That gives me goose bumps every time & i just have to play it!
Same! I've used that same line for 30 years lol
Very nice. John Riggs is the soundtrack for my work from home days.
Great video !!!

This took you a long time to prepare…good job.. thank you

Leaving a comment to help your channel with the algorithm. Also, your channel is way better than Metal Jesus. I hope you beat Konami.

Road Rash 2 .... most addictive somewhat clunky game ever

Rambo 3 and Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf are my favorite games on the Sega Genesis.

I loved Forgotten Worlds as a kid because you had infinite lives with 2 players.
My favourite Genesis games must be the Phantasy Star quadrilogy. The Shining Force games are also good
Love these long videos
Marvel Land is not a new property . It is an arcade port .
The Kremlin isn't a Russian developer.
Rocket Knight Adventures isn't a one and done.
He forgot he did the original Toejam and Earl, and covered it again, while ignoring the sequel.
This was painful.
At least he eventually figured out Sparkster was a sequel.
Man I can watch this all day long. So cool
Super thunder blade and space harrier 2 are the same game they use the same HUD and play style
Streets of Rage 2 known as Bare Knuckle 2 in Japan was one of the best arcade brawlers ever made & it was the best for the Mega Drive here in UK!
I never saw it actually in arcades as often as we went? I got in my SEGA Fighting System and absolutely still love it 30 years later

On Toe Jam and Earl, on the later levels plenty and many enemies appear.
It's a megadrive. Much love x
Thunderblade in the arcades was awesome but not the port !!!
John Riggs Marathon time
There was also the "paws" variant of Cheeto's that you can see in the game.
The Sega Genesis collection was just delisted from the PlayStation store. Only way to play it now is buy a physical copy.
Or Switch is Really Nice.
All I can say is thank goodness I own the digital version.
Huh? I just checked Steam and it's still up.
That's why I only buy physical copies including that one. No one can take them from you.
The Mega Drive/Genesis collection on PS4, Switch and Xbox One sadly has really noticeable input delay
I will always love Altered Beast. Play it a few times a year. It's beyond nostalgic for me. 😊
Not Sure If Someone Said This, But Columns II was on Sega Saturn And It Released On July 21, 1990.
I just got super hang on and I am addicted to trying to get the highest of scores for every level
Love me some Riggs 😉

He made quite a few painful errors...
Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend is my most favorite from the GENESIS.
Rocket Knight has Sparkster, and they did make a newer version of the game I forget for which console ps2? xbox?
This “chibi” ghostbusters game reminds me of that chibi back to the future 2 game that was never released in the USA 🇺🇸
You can’t talk about the revenger Shinobi without talking about the music
Loved my Genesis. It's too expensive to collect now but note Sega G are worth more than Super Nes.
Interesting. I knew Shove It as Boxxle for Game Boy
Yes, target earth was cool. Some effort was put into the story.
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Genesis Games !
You play as the wrestler in beat em up "Streets of rage 2 and other games" So you would play as Volt Kruger in The Bouncer. "Ps2"
Do you enjoy the master system see well?
I miss the days long ago when pirates were PIRATES! 😎👍
Zoom was a arcade game bye a different name i saw it on Starcade
2:00:14 Ristarou 😭😭😭
I Am techniqually the 4th Gunstar hero do to my knowledge of the game. No not the 3rd.
Altered Beast isn't frustrating at all i can play it without any problems
This is just more proof that even the worst Genesis games are still better than anything Nintendo has ever done.
Oh please, tell us you’re a fanboy without actually telling us you’re a fanboy.
I have to disagree with Toe Jamm and Earl it was one of the best games on the Genesis.
Sounds like the games are "fun!"
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮🎮
👍
👍👍™️
I can look at u that u don’t like Color Me Badd lol say no more 😂
I've never played Altered Beast
We liked it as kids but it honestly doesn't hold up very well if you don't have the nostalgia aspect. Just my opinion

@@krisfrederick5001 yeah I got a emulator on my mini PC thinking about downloading Altered Beast on there maybe give it a play thru
