I bought one off a fellow photographer for $30 and it is a gem. I replaced the seals and cleaned the rangefinder and honestly you can’t tell that the camera is over 60 years old! Leather is a nice shiny black and the metal plates are sparkling and bright still. I absolutely love having a full auto mode for vacations and events where i don’t have the time to think too too much but to easily switch to manual mode for more thought out pictures is great. Already started selling my other RF’s as this is the only one i will ever need. Minolta FTW!
I have one that I inherit from my mom, damn, I love this camera!!! Im trying to find a flash for it, have you tried one or know wich one can fit?? thanks!!
What is the attraction of a fixed lens range finder that is so big and heavy? An XD slr is smaller and lighter and you can change lenses. I always felt rangefinders were attractive for small size and small lenses? Just curious because I would love this camera if it were a compact rangefinder.
Luke: Well for me I really enjoy the weight. Sounds weird maybe but having a rangefinder that's on the bigger side and solid in the hand feels good to me. I also enjoy shooting with a fixed focal length as it forces me to think more about framing, getting closer, changing perspective etc. I've tried other compact rangefinders (Olympus 35RC,RD, Ricoh 500G) and they're a touch too fiddly. But each to their own - that's the beauty of our sector, so many different ways of shooting!
@@hypecamera well I broke down and bought one. I will have to experience it to see if I can justify the size/weight vs my dx11. See how much it gets used in comparison. I am intrigued by the EV system and the coupled aperture setting and shutter speed. I am also intrigued by the different exposure modes. Hopefully my copy will be functional! Such a crap shoot buying on ebay.
Hi! I got a question: You said that EV 11 was the equivalent of 1/250 and f/2.8. But if i turn both rings, for example, to 1/60 and f/5.6, the little window also says 11. How do i use the meter and the rings correctly? Thank's in advance!
GREAT question - if you’re pointing the camera at different lit scenes you’ll get different combinations of f-stop & shutter speed. But it’s still equal to EV 11 - does that make sense? A shutter speed of 1/250 at f/2.8 is equal to 1/60 at f/5.6. You’ve compensated the faster shutter (250) for more things in focus at f/5.6 BUT you need a slower shutter to get the same EV result. EV is just a reading of light at a point in the scene. So EV 11 is what it is. How you shoot the seen with that EV 11 info is up to you and what you desire the image to look like. Help or nah?
@@hypecamera I am new to the world of photography, and you have made it crystal clear to me. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me, greetings! 😊

Nice vids, mate. Love these little rangefinders.
Have you used one? So good right?
Great stuff mate. Got one of these bad boys on eBay for a steal, can't wait to take it out!

Thanks, I enjoyed your photos. Looks like a fun camera.
VERY fun! And a great learner!
Awesome, just picked up my 7s and wasnt so sure about the EV is for.
Nice man! They’re such good little cameras!

@@phoslurperr Ah yes - the ebay risky play! I hope it works out for you!
@@hypecamera love your humble down to earth answer, hc. Same here by the way, the actual size and weight feels just right for big hands... ☺️
@@phoslurperr @hypecamera My experience with the Minolta Hi-Matic 7s is that I am happy with the end result - the photos that it takes.
What films do you recommend?

@@Manu_____. @hypecamera I would add that the EV is also dependent on the film speed.
Beautiful pics!
Thanks Vijay!!
Do these only shoot in black and white? I’m just getting into cameras
It’ll shoot whatever film you put into it. Yellow filter is screw on, not permanent.
What battery you used in camera?
Hey there - it uses a Wein cell 1.35v mercury replacement battery.
I’ve put a link in the description to B&H where you can buy them.
I wanna come to NZ 😭
Do it!!! We’ll have ya ‘round for tea!
