we've got the matching checkbox activity in a few weeks with our social worker, totally understand the guilty feelings! Panel date in early June and we're both so nervous, excited and terrified all in one!
Very useful thank you. Do you know if theres a list of Additional Needs somewhere that doesnt require you to be part of Link Builder? Just so we can get a heads start? Possibly starting the approval process in a few months.
Is there anywhere that you know of where I could see a sort of example criteria checklist? I’d find it so helpful to see how specific the different special needs and other criteria are.
Hi Molly Mamma. We are quite similar to yourself as we have a biological daughter and we would like a Sibling for hour. She will be three and a half by the time matching comes round. I was just wondering if it's working out well etc .❤
Hi Molly, did you know early on you wanted to adopt a boy? Did your social worker support or discourage this? We've been told a girl would be a good fit as we already have 3 boys. But then equally the social worker said not to stipulate gender.(contradiction!) If I am being totally honest with myself - I would love to adopt a girl and have that daughter I never thought I would. But I don't know if this is 'wrong.'
Hey Hannah! We didn’t know at all - our matching criteria included a girl or a boy. It just so happened that the profile we fell in love with was our boy 💗 we were advised a boy would be great for the family dynamic as it would be less threatening for my daughter, but still we were open to gender. There’s nothing wrong with choosing a gender either! X
Hi Dom. I've only just spied this comment - so sorry. If i'm completely honest I'm not sure as i'm no expert. I would definitely recommend speaking to your local authority or a local adoption agency about it x
Hi thanks for your video ) I have a question) if I have my own child who is 3 years old now ... I have a call today whith a person from the local authority and they said I can start a process just when he terns 4 years old ... so is it really I have to wait for nearly a year ? Just cant believe that I have to wait to start the process which takes nearly a yer more. Thank you
From what I’ve heard it’s different with every local authority. My daughter was 3 when we started knowing that she would almost be 4 when we brought a little one home with an under 2 as our matching criteria. I would look into some voluntary agencies as well as LAs and see if their guidelines are different.
Just found your channel and we are going through stage 2 at the moment this is amazing thank you so much for sharing!

Ohh that’s so exciting Ginger! Not long until panel and finalising your matching criteria. The real excitement begins now 💗

I don’t know of anywhere that has that resource available at the moment - sorry Polly!
Thanks for this Molly. I know we want as young a child as possible but that’s all we know.
Your matching criteria is for you to decide Katie! It may become more apparent you envision further through the process 😀
