Thanks twister for teaching us a bit about tornados
One of the things that upsets me most about these attractions closing is the music. The music that comes with these older rides is so wonderful and nostalgic and as they go, the soundtracks go with them, leaving us with these more modern tracks that just don't feel the same! :(
I'd wear my storm chasing shirt just to go see this if it was still there. 😊 Hearing the crowd chant "Twister" at the end made me smile. Now there's a sequel coming. "Twisters" July 19, 2024.
There have been a lot of ride closings I wasn't happy about, but closing a unique attraction like Twister to make room for what arguably sounds like the worst ride idea of all time (Jimmy Fallon)? I just don't get it! When the Fallon ride was announced, I literally thought it was a joke. I was shocked when it ended up being real.

Jimmy Fallon is one of the worst rides, second to only Fast and Furious, and that replaced one of my favorite rides too.

Still today, the most inspiring and amazing movie ever created, and more importantly, how much closer it brought them to understand nature. Paxton and Hunt made that movie come alive, and as for the cast members who played the team, couldn't have asked for a better group of people.
I've always dreamed of going to Orlando, and seeing Universal Studios there because we don't have much here in Universal Hollywood. Twister was always at my top 5 list, and now I want to rip those Universal Executives to shreds.

WHAT! THE TWISTER RIDE IS CLOSED FOR GOOD?!!! I went to Universal Studios for my Family Reunion in July 2015. WE COULD HAVE WENT BEFORE IT CLOSED! DAMN IT! THAT GOES FOR THE DISASTER RIDE TOO! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!XOOO!

and right behind it looks like a fatter, taller version of michael from achievement hunter.
Was working at USF when they were building this show and it opened. They had more problems getting the tornado to work properly, then the show was worth. The cue line was a wonderfully put together, with even some destroyed hidden mickeys spread within the mess. Surprised that it lasted almost 20 years.
Great immersive attraction. I will miss it
one of the few old attractions left :( of course it's replaced with some sup-par idea that will probably get old after a year

Violet Witch i read somewhere that they plan on replacing that as well... that's actually my favorite ride haha
+Dankrupt Spielberg has said that if they get rid of E.T. he will force them to remove the Jurassic Park attractions too, E.T. is safe.

They're replacing it with Jimmy Fallon? I mean I like Jimmy Fallon but that's kind of odd. Especially because this is such a good ride.
Let's see... Fallon replaced Twister, Twister replaced Ghostbusters. Shrek replaced Alfred Hitchcock presents. Despicable Me replaced Jimmy Neutron, Jimmy Neutron replaced Hanna Barbara. Transformers replaced Hercules and Xena, Herc & Xena replaced Murder She Wrote. The Mummy replaced the original King Kong. Fast and Furious will replace Disaster (and the Beatlejuice Graveyard Review), Disaster replaced Earthquake. Diagon Alley replaced Jaws (and the entire Amity area.) Fear Factor replaced the Wild, Wild West Stunt Show. Simpsons replaced Back to the Future. A Day in the Park With Barney replaced the Bates Motel and House facade.

Yesssss..... But the boneyard was already "gone" before the decision to build the Rip Ride Rocket was made. Technically speaking, the "Music Plaza" replaced the boneyard. But yeah, I completely forgot about the boneyard. Trying to remember what they had in there. I remember a drive-in movie facade from "American Graffiti", part of the armored stagecoach from "Stagecoach", part (a very small part) of one of the chariots from "Ben Hur", one of the ships from "Water World", part of the fuselage of a P46 fighter from a WWII film I cannot remember, the Delorean from "Back to the Future", small props from "Jurassic Park" and a bunch of other props (most in an advanced state of decay) from other films.
Blue Man Group replaced Nickelodeon Studios.
Excited for Jimmy Fallon, but still sad to see this go:( Been apart of my childhood since 2003 and have been obsessed with the movie since forever. Gonna miss you twister! Thank you for traumatizing children since 1998.

honestly im kinda excited for the jimmy fallon ride, considering they said it is very similar to harry potter and the forbidden journey, which is one of the greatest rides ever built, I cant wait to see all the new ride technology that will surely be an improvement on the already fantastic harry potter ride tech

I must say as a person who grew up going to Universal Studios every year writing this I am sad to see this right ago it was one hell of a ride first back to the future then Josh now this ride my childhood is slowly disappearing from Universal Studios Orlando :(
i remember going to universal with my dad the year after back to the future closed i remember my dad tearing up that rides been there since he was little. good thuing they didnt take away the props like the delorian and the train. unless they did that by now
I honestly understand why this got replaced. The lines were never that long and the effects were dated. I love the attraction but I completely understand why they removed it.

Eh. Glad they gave it a good sendoff, but I'm not sorry to see this thing go. Ghostbusters was always better.
Also, i'm beginning to notice a pattern with these "last show" videos from Universal rides- inevitably some of the biggest effects fail to work properly- in this case, the fire tornado.
TheInflicted the fire tornado is not part of the show it happens because the fans that make the vortex form don't turn off when they are meant to
It's actually meant to break down the tornado vortex and make everyone back up
But as you can see the fire no longer works correctly

The steam tornado effect still impressive all these years later
While it may not have been the best attraction, it still was very cool with it’s design, and practical effects and after going on Jimmy Fallon (another screen based ride 🥱) which was okay, but I honestly miss this…🥺alot! Practical effects and animatronics will always be better than screens and isn’t Universal about riding the movies??!!! Not cheesy talkshows??!

This was a great ride. Looks like the toned the fire down a lot for the last show. When I was in that first row the last explosion was huge and you felt that heat and your heart jumped out when the front row dropped an inch. The Jimmy Fallon ride sucks it's just another standard motion simulator for a show most people do not care about. Before - the rides were based on Epic box office hits. Twister was big for the time despite being highly dated now. Ghostbusters was epic. Spider-Man is still one of the best rides ever and I like it more than the harry potter rides or the copy paste Transformers clones. To think Spider-Man came out in 1998 and was about 200 mil for that ONE ride and I have yet to really see anything top it.
Probably has to do with the cost and maintenance of a ride that was no longer popular. I had season passes for universal and went on this every visit. Literally no line and the room had about 20 people in it. I'm extremely nostalgic and I hate that they replaced this with yet another 3D simulator. Almost every time I went on twister something didn't work. Something was always broken. Hear the cow and see nothing. Another time the tornado was missing but what never failed was the screen that played the tornado coming towards you. It's cheap and reliable and because it is we all feel that and know it. 3D simulators are cheap and not thrilling and we feel ripped off paying for a ticket$ to stand in line for an hour to watch a 5 min 3D video sitting in something that tilts me with the screen movement. Oculus does that minus the movement and no line. Imagine paying the same price for a ticket to see a live Michael Jackson concert and see a hologram instead of Michael. Even if I could barely tell the difference it is absolutely not the same.
They should bring the ride back now, with the new movie coming out in July

Bruh I remember I was like probably 5 or less going on this ride. I was shitting myself. When I saw the tornado it looked huge and looking at this video I’m like what?😂. And I was like how’d they manage to get a tornado inside. I thought I was done for

My dad took me on this ride and I was little and I was terrified, didn’t help that our house got torn to shreds by a tornado a few years earlier .
I'm gonna miss that ride, the first time I went on it was when I was 3 years old and that's how my phobia of tornados started😂
I’m not gonna lie this ride scared the crap out of me at both 9 years old and 15 years old.
Damn it. I'm in the process of saving to move to Orlando and they're chipping away my childhood little by little!

ah, disappointed to see this go. I remember experiencing it for the first time in 1998. instead of updating with better effects, they change it to something else... sigh. lemme guess, something with SCREENS. Universal needs a new schtick.

Am I the only one who was never a fan of this? Idk why people call it a "ride" it was more like a show than anything. The effects are cool to watch, but tbh honest just standing there and watching this I found to be kinda boring. I went to watch it once on my first trip to Universal Orlando years ago and never went on it again because... What was the point? It's one of those things where if you do it once and then you're good. I know everyone enjoys different things but idk I just never understood the point of Twister. I am so freaking excited for the Jimmy Fallon ride! I've been a fan of Jimmy's for years and I can't wait! I just hope I don't have to wear 3D glasses on it... I have glasses and those always hurt my eyes lol

And plus the point of twister was to demonstrate how intense it would be if you were in front of a tornado or somewhat close to it technically to bring the movie to life

Agreed. I mean, c'mon, I've seen the movie enough times & the movie itself is WAY better than this wee lil tornado. Lol But I do have to agree there, with the technology we have, even over the years, the tornado on this ride could've gotten bigger & bigger & bigger & bigger & bigger over the years. If this ride wasn't going anywhere, I'd say 'time for an upgrade!' Lol

This is probably the last attraction like this we’ll ever see from the park. It’s just completely abandoned any use of practical effects and creative immersive experiences for park goers for glorified IMAX rides
My favorite ride gone I miss it so much screw Universal and screw Jimmy Fallon. It still brought people in, it still drew a crowd, and there is no reason to bring it down. A big fat middle finger to you Universal Orlando!!! And Jimmy Freaking Fallon!!!!!!!!!!!

descent attraction with some cool effects. more like a show really than a ride, but I will say adding the music i from the movie was a nice touch and the whole walking through a ruined by a tornado house was well designed too. sucks that this is getting replaced by something that's not even based off of a movie. Why a Jimmy Fallon 3d thing?!! I have no idea! Should have replaced it with something better.
