I can’t go to amusement parks anymore and ride roller coasters. I had some surgery done on my eyes, and it’s a possibility that they could pop out. Westinghouse radios were awesome, they made some good stuff. Keep up the good work, and I love that guy he cracked me up. What a doofus
That is a very solid, elegant design, I think it has stood the test of time really well. Still very modern looking, I'd say, and I guess that is why they are popular today. Thanks for sharing.
Years ago I worked a security patrol gig at an amusement park. I couldn't wait to get out and go home. I had to watch a bunch of funny movies to avoid depression from that amusement park.
When you restore that particular model, you'll find that they heat up a lot inside so use capacitors that can take extreme heat. I found out the hard way when I restored one I had.
I really 👍 like these refrigerator radios. I watched Glasslinger go into the timely restoration of one. Yours is also very well worth the restoration. The 💡 idea is 👎 not to lose, or break the ✋ handle on top (on hers), or lose the 👌 knobs, or the 📻 radio's value will drop next to 👎 nothing. I can't tell if this refrigerator 📻 radio has a ✋ handle on top. 👍 Yes, it sounds 👍 like it works, and the grille cloth is a ➕ plus. I 👍 like the color. The 📻 radio's quiet because the capacitors are lossy. The dial light bulb needs replaced, it's out. "Tweakificate", 😆 LOL!! Fabulous speaker. It appears to be permanent magnet. I'd be careful poking around inside this. Ya won't want to short it out. I'm 👎 not sure if this 📻 radio has organic rubber wire in it. If so, it's pretty well rotten. This thing sounds pretty 👍 good to me, but the sound is stifled, because of the out-of-value capacitors, or an intermittent, or shorted-out one. Also, be careful, if this is a 🔥 hot chassis set. I can't 👀 seem to find plastic-tipped screwdrivers, which are perfect for this job. I might short something out with my metal ones, from Wal-Mart, that I bought for $2.47. Lick your food ☝ off the Styrofoam tray, 😆 😆 LOL!! I've 👂 heard of the 🍸 drinking straw ban, but it's never gone into effect where I am. I'd rather this be a basement radio, than a 🚻 bathroom radio. Wax capacitors. You'll want to replace those. 👌 Keep ☝ up the 👍 great work, Mr. Shango066. Your friend, Jeff.
I used to have an uncle (RIP) who despised plastic ware. He was an old farmer, raised hogs and sheep, a few cattle for their milk and the caves they had in the spring after the neighbor's bull "accidentally" crossed the fence into his pasture and "serviced" his cows. He used to hire me for haying season to cut, buck, and stack his hay, paid $5.00 a day wages if you could get him to cough up the paychecks. He was a thief extrionair as well, every time he came around and someone was working on their outfits, as was part of your daily duties as a farm hand, or farmer, he would pocket a pair of pliers, or perhaps an open end wrench. It got so bad that my father purchased some letter punch an punched his initials, since his name was Gordon, his initials were GE. When dad cornered him once when over at his place fixing his well he came across his huge pipe wrench, an expensive tool that had been missing for quite some time, the old fart told dad the tool was made by General Electric! After my uncle picked himself up off the ground, he gathered all of dad's tools that he had "borrowed without permission" and returned them. At any rate, the old fart always carried a knife and fork in the front pocket of his overalls. The silverware was marked USN and came from the collection that my father had, his brother who was in the Coast Guard had purchased a set of those for each of his brothers. Ah well they are both gone now, laying near each other in the Green Hill Cemetery
16:18 I have a really hard time reading color codes because I'm color blind, and the resistors I see always seem to be filthy and color faded to boot. So I have to rely on diagrams. :/
I haven't been to an amusement park since I was a kid in the 60s and got freaked out talking to the decapitated women's head sitting on a table. I think one of us might have been a little too high.
Good day Shango066! I admire your channel since you revive even those units with cracked capacitors and melted wax fillings on one of them. Interestingly the open capacitor could cause not to peak properly the 2nd IF can. Thank you also for reviving my enthusiasm to repair electronic units again. Greetings from Philippines! :)
It’s just a testament to how good things are made back in Orick my friend actually work with that crack faster than all that in there and work halfway decent after listening to your

I had one of those little trouble makers a few years ago. I have a lot of radios and use them and that Westinghouse always had something wrong with it even with other experienced techs working on it as well as me. I had a customer come over one time and saw it on the shelf and offered me an absurd amount of money for it even after I told her about it. She didn't care. Wanted it for display on top of her vintage refrigerator. Win win
Editing a recap to show the rough spots perhaps, not sure, A final tweek / alignment perhaps Great stuff as always from the legend himself here though THANK YOU for all you do shango066
I instantly recognized the design of those Westinghouse radios even though I haven't seen one since the 1980s. I think these were made in the same pastel colors and gold tone as the kitchen appliances. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The made in America stamp is interesting. A hallmark of the post war era.
In a resistance coupled audio amplifier (the IF tube has the detector diode in it), a remote cutoff pentode will work about the same as a sharp cutoff pentode, maybe a bit less gain. That 12SK7 is probably just DEAD.
Amusement parks just remind me of being gouged left and right. Universal Studios in Orlando has a $300 admission, with the Harry Potter part of the park being paywalled for another $45, $10 for a beer, or $8 for a single pizza slice. I would repair and align the "parts" chassis and the other non-corroded chassis (new caps and cloth wire (if possible), maybe some of the drifted resistors) and recommend the owner restore the other shells for those. Use the corroded chassis for parts if you can where you can. You can get a couple videos out of this and we would eat it up as long as you dont change. LoL, thats so funny. Power on and no current, Opps the series lamp is stuffed. Being rhetorical. Radios this age are so full of dry joints,,, on moving wires/connections on the base and things change.. I re-solder and proceed with finding the next dry joint. You will eventually clear them all. But as a future prof, would it not be wise to re-solder all the base connections as a start?
Those were kitchen radios and not rarely the trimmer caps have a thin film of bacon grease all over the mica insulators. Also all over the tuning capacitor. Who knew that bacon grease is not high Q? An eye dropper of alcohol is helpful. Put some on the capacitors too.
If one has to wear a mask in an Amusement Park, how enjoyable do you think that is? I’m to the point where I’m ready to punch a sizable hole in the first person’s face who attempts to hassle me for not wearing a mask. I’m done. And I am not normally a violent person. If we all stood up and attempted to rid this brainwashed society’s fear of “nothing”, the powers that be might leave us alone. Anyway, what that has to do with this resurrection video, I don’t know. But, @Shango066...I love your video’s. Keep em’ coming.

Amusement parks! I have this computer game called Roller Coaster Tycoon. I would set up the park to give out free drinks and food and then charge everyone $50 to use the restroom! LMAO
$50? I don't think I've ever gone above $5 in RCT. The guests will leave if everything's too expensive.
The 12SK7 is a remote-cutoff pentode, the J7 is sharp-cutoff. The K7 will have less gain as an audio amp, but IMHO should still work. Weird.
Well I guess we need more videos about light bulbs changing!☻
31:14 I recapped one of those and all the caps in it were cracked, they were all Solars.
hahahah funny you say toaster radio - the first thing that came into my head was a bread toaster when the video started. lol
Fill me out here: is AM 1110 still radio Disney or it finally went off the air? Unless otherwise it's probably a technical glitch
Who needs amusement parks when you have Shango066 video's? Seriously, I could not care less.
🐨 That clean looking Parts Chassis looks like a real goer, Could it be a better choice for a restoration for one of the best cabinets?
Might pay to evaluate it on it's own merits, specially if-n the wiring isn't as crusty as the one with the wiring dangerously crumbling away..
NOW... As for doing the recapping and recording of it "which for the most I feel is 80% of the restoration Grind when it comes to Valve Devices"
As viewers we can always Fast forward or even skip the mandatory recapping, Mind you each respective device though, do have their challenges and it's these challenges that a good content creator usually includes..
APU I dropped a 👍
It seems that the first radio did much of its crackling when you were moving the antenna. Perhaps there is a loose connection there?
