I lived in the Hartford area between 1982 and 2000 and worked downtown off and on through many of those years. Had the opportunity to revisit last summer. Thanks for the memories.
A lot of those parking lots were planned skyscrapers at one time. Unfortunately when the economy tanked in the 90s, they never got built. If you saw what they had planned, Hartford would have had an incredible skyline. Rumor has it Hartford would’ve had the tallest skyscraper in New England if these planned skyscrapers got built back then. It actually has a very respectable skyline now.
I lived there in the 70's.....I can recognize the old buildings, but most of the downtown is now almost unrecognizable!.... However, that iconic church tower in the midst of downtown is unmistakable! (Min. 15:30 - 15:41 to the left of the screen) 😊
Thanks for showing us this city in 2023. Fond memories of being there decades ago. Have you ever driven around Hartford and just let the camera roll, no cuts,splices, and minimal edits? Might help viewers get a better feel for how one part of town leads to another. The music? Some beats were nice and some weren’t, causing distraction. Keep the good stuff and ditch the bad. Odd that there seems to be a lot of bulldozed areas turned into ugly parking lots. Hartford deserves better. Hope they keep more of the old buildings and refurbish them instead of knocking them down. There’s still quite a bit of the Hartford I knew back in the day, fortunately. Show us more, maybe a ride down Farmington Ave. and some of the side streets.
