This is an idea I can use! I was going to pipe my shop for dust collection, but my shop is small and awkward. Most of my tools are on mobile carts. Putting the dust collection on a mobile cart would probably work for my shop. Right now I just have a really long hose on the vacuum that I move around (and trip over). 😎💪😍
I'm glad you like this idea! Being able to roll my cart to wherever I'm working has been really helpful especially with the additional power strip to plug a bunch of my tools into. I'm starting to move into the direction of mobile workbenches/tool stands etc...i like the flexibility of where I'm working and move things out of the way when not needed.
Dell's DIY, this is a great project, and one I'm going to build. My one question is why you didn't consider a cutout for the shop vac exhaust. I'm wondering if the shop vac wouldn't tend to overheat if it's on for any extended amount of time without that cutout. Your thoughts?
Thanks for watching and for your comment Don! I had thought about venting the exhaust out the back but decided against it only because I added an exhaust “muffler” which sticks out about 8-9” from the shop vac and I didn’t want it sticking out behind the cabinet because the cart wouldn’t sit close to the wall behind it. If I turn the shop vac on a diagonal the muffler sits inside the cabinet with no issues of overheating since so much air moves through the vacuum it really doesn’t get anything more than barely warm and that’s even when using for 10-15 minutes straight while sanding. You can definitely vent it out the back if you’re more comfortable with that
I just have mine sitting on top without anything holding it down. No issues except if I try to really stretch the hose then it may slide to the edge or tilt over.

Great video! What's holding the dust cyclone separator down? Does it not move around as you're vacuuming? Thanks!
