All I will say is This: Geared Locomotives are SUPER EPIC. Whether it be Heisler's, Climax's, and especially Shay's, they are all great. Very unique kinds of steam locomotives, and very well designed for what they we're built to do.
Shay 11s whistle is kind of like a steam powered slide whistle no pun intended. It’s actually called a mockingbird whistle. There are 2 cords fed into the cab. One cord toots it’s low pitched side, the other toots the high pitched side. Now I think that’s one of a kind. I know a 2 truck climax steam locomotive in New Hampshire that has a steam powered slide whistle. There’s a small cord in the cab to toot it.
