- After a three-year absence, I finally made it to another Tweetsie Railroad Heritage Weekend on August 27 & 28, 2022. As in previous years, this event features both of the park's steam locomotives under steam and pulling trains around the mountain, with 190 on the regular "Wild West Train" and 12 pulling a historic mixed consist of a former Rio Grande flatcar and recently repainted East Broad Top coach 5. On Saturday night, the two locomotives and coach 5 would be coupled to the front of the main consist for a sunset photo special, with runbys as usual at Dead Horse Trestle and the Frontier Outpost. Not only was this the first time the engines were doubleheaded on a photo special in 6 years, this was the first opportunity ever to see the 6-car train behind both engines. The next morning, the coach was removed and the two locomotives doubleheaded the Wild West Train. As always I had a great time seeing narrow gauge steam at work and hanging out with my fellow foamers, and can't wait for Railroad Heritage Weekend 2023!

Nice video! It was nice seeing you again!
Thanks! You too!
why do you skip most parts and not keep the full scenes? (I'm just curious)
Awesome man!
Thank you!
When did they get a flat car that was from the rio grande and a coach from EBT?
They got the flatcar in 2019, while I believe the coach has been with the park since it opened in 1957. Don’t quote me on that though
@@mattdotsonrailfanproductio266 I see thx
@@mattdotsonrailfanproductio266 you are correct about the coach. It was even with the #12 during her brief stint at the Shanandoah Central in the mid-1950s.

My parents took me to Tweetsie Railroad several times when I was a child. This was in the mid 60's to early 70's. It is still a nice place but the gunfight show put on along the train route has been greatly toned down. Now it is more a clown show. Not very entertaining at all. The train ride is nice but the show sucks. The town has a lot of nice gift shops and places to eat.
if they only could put em on a real railroad
