You can hire as many cops as you want but if our justice system is going to be a catch and release program it’s not going to make a shred of difference

$10,000 won't buy much of anything in Vancouver these days
We need smart well trained police officers. It is a real job
We don't need more officers in Vancouver. We need more enforcement. You can have all the officers in the world but if they aren't allowed to enforce the law what are we really doing? Just intimidating through presence?
Odd nobody wants to be a police officer and recruiting is down
You rather give this money to police than wasting it on trudeau’s hotels
That's the most stupidest thing that can be done.
Imagine you have been working at a job for a number of years and in walks the new guy making the same wage as you but with $10,000 in his pocket!
Their specifically looking for experienced officers from other forces. You didn't listen to it they're trying to fight the rate of retiring officers. They're not hiring complete rookies and giving them $10,000.
@@NotLeftarded1 you really think the police are gonna stick to that? They're corrupt as f
Victoria had a 20k signing bonus. It just ended as it was successful.
I agree there has to be a better way! Make the bonus come into effect after several years of service then off another bonus like half the amount of the recruit one to be given to existing officers after they have met a standard they can decide on. This is a fkn dumb idea as it stands!

Does it mention that the demand is coming from the major, to have more police in Vancouver? Is that what Vancouver residents want, to pay more taxes so the major can keep sitting in his chair?
Not a bad standard cost for a uniform. Not the vehicle though?
Have always received a signing bonus when signing a contract in a Unionized place of work, paid over the length of the contract.
Yes but your jobs were not paid for with taxpayer money. The police should not get bonuses from taxpayer money
I would bet businesses would happily cover those signing bonuses if they got a guarantee shoplifting would be addressed. They're losing millions in theft anyways. The only ones mad about this are the ones that are stealing and dont want the gravy train to stop
Operation Lone Star, Vancouver!
Seems fair, a lot of industries do the same when spots needs to be filled.
Those industries are seldom tax payer funded
Not with my tax dollars wtf
Yeah, but then you’re no better than fester
Waste
I wonder how much a Van cop makes after 3-5 years
122,000
@@Gutians One needs that amount to live in Van. Sad real estate costs for too long
@@ethimself5064 I would say you actually need 150,000 to live comfortably sadly

Will they throw in some free dinner and a movie once per month? 🍿🍷🎬🎥😊
Bribing cops to be cops....🤯....
Vancouver 💚
Why not put that money into their training and into the screening of who they're recruiting.....Vancouver police are useless!
Here is a novel idea! Put 5% of every police budget in every community to create a Social Service Personnel (SSP) unit. This small group of citizens is NOT related to any previous or existing police members. Their job is to collect data/ reports from the citizenry/ businesses in their communities on the daily conduct ( positive/negative) and then share in a public form each month. The mayor and citizens are now aware of what members are doing and how they do what they do. This NOVEL, idea, will alter the course of every members perception of what it means to serve and protect and slowly retrain the egregious, incompetent training members received before becoming members....lol...Not a laughing matter, but none the less true. To all members that critically think and understand the spirit of to, " SERVE @PROTECT" and recognize their safety paramount and understand how to minimize threats without eliminating perceives threats, stay safe, much ❤
Hire more corrupt criminal cops
