Thank you for being a teacher. Some men are just doers….
Interesting comment, since I was a public school teacher for 30+ year! Thank YOU
You are needed here on RUclips
Thanks for explaining how the rivnut tool works & the great tip with the magnet👍
No problem 👍
Love the idea with the magnet to catch swarf
Thanks. Putting the magnet in a bag makes it easy to get the filing off.
Always have a couple of threads protruding out of the end of the nutsert/rivet nut, because when you squeeze to pull up the nutsert/riv nut you have less chance of stripping the thread.
I'm a sheet metalworker been using nutserts for 35 years and have learnt by my mistakes as nothing worse than either drilling out a nutsert or stripping the mandrel and getting it stuck in the nutsert.
Oh thank you so much for sharing your vids... I was looking at the river nut option for my transit cargo installations but was kinda clueless about using 'tools' yeah IKR well thank you Sir for sharing your wisdom😊
If your Van building you can see all my videos divided by category at thefrugalfactor.com/
Good tip with the thermal barrier for mildew
The ceiling panels are able to stay up with only bolts through the rivnuts? Would a lock washer make sense? Vibrations after some time did the ceiling panels loosen?
After several years all is well, I have not needed to tighten any panels. Lock washers sound like a good idea. I wrapped the wall panels in Duramax tweed material and used a regular washer, so the material would not twist or deform as seen in this video ruclips.net/video/l1l99-8uIts/видео.html also all the videos divided by category can be seen at thefrugalfactor.com/
Don't you have issues with the nuts threading and ceasing when you tighten the rivnut too much?
Have not had an cease yet.
Caution when using a rivet nut tool, DO NOT OVER SQUEEZE THE TOOL you can strip the threads of the rivnut. ESPECIALLY ALUMINUM versions.
Do NOT use aluminum riv-nuts. The galvanic action between the aluminum and steel parts can lead to severe corrosion.
What size rivnut did you use for the wall panels? 5/16 or 1/4?
1/4"-20 on 90% of the van build including the wall panels. Best to use just a few sizes for the build, it makes things much easier!
instead of using rivnut's, can I just use a rivet to hold up the wall panels? I'm new to all of this >
A RivNut is installed like a rivet, but provides installs a thread like a nut. This allows easy installation and removal of the wall panel. If you used a standard rivet, you would need to drill it out to remove the wall panel. Why would you want to remove a wall panel? So, that you can inspect for mold and moisture, to run new wiring, if body work needs to done or to recover the wall panels.
@@FrugalFactor ahh yes! Thank you! Makes perfect sense.
@@FrugalFactor I am making a mobile showroom/office for cabinetry company. I see some people install steel “bracing” on the ceiling and the walls.. is this really needed?
@@michaelglaser1669 I don't think that is needed. I used rivnuts into the steel frame/ribs. You could also use plus nuts for extra strength. I designed the cabinets so their frames aligned next to the ribs, so I could use rivnuts and place bolts into the side of the metal ribs. I can hang off the cabinet frame. Much stronger than I will ever need.
What is the foam roll called?
It's sill sealer foam roll see amzn.to/3Wcp5f0 Also, all the products and videos by category at thefrugalfactor.com/ Thank YOU for watching.
@@FrugalFactor thank you so much! Very appreciated!
The hex ones are not designed for round holes
Correct. I used the M8 hexagon riv-nuts for existing holes in the van.
@@FrugalFactor I noticed you mentioning that later in your video. I have a Sprinter. No hex holes. It is nice that they do that. Wish Sprinters had that.
