That part where you rest the pick (plectrum) on the next string is a technique called planting. It's a very useful technique that prepares you for future moves. Great video, as always! Thanks, Mike!

Killer exercise Mike! Good mix of Legato, economy and alternate picking. Looks like we use the same pick as well. Dunlop Tortex 1.14 Sharp? I’ve tried tons of picks and I keep coming back to that one, it’s just thick enough to feel really well without making the string chirp. Keep up the great work !

Hi Mike, could you do a video on preparing to join a (rock) band as a guitarist? What things should we be able to play, with regards to both the bare minimum requirements as well as optional things that are beneficial?

YES absolutely go for it dude don't get discouraged by people who play better than you now , be inspired by them and what they are doing instead . If you put in the work one day you will be playing even better than them!

Great video. Youve taught me so much on guitar. Ive always wondered though, what do you think of getting a yamaha pacifica, given the fact that that guitar has both single coil and a humbucker?

Hey there, great riff. You're new to me. I found you by another video about the "4 levels of students" which I found interesting I think I'm a three too. I'm curious about why you wouldn't pick this a little differently. It seems more natural to me to play the E string exactly as you did, and picking downward on the second string, just as you did, BUT then hammering AND pulling off the next two semi tones on the A string, then uppicking the E string for that last note on the E string to then downpick the A string to start the pattern over again. Please illuminate me. I'm certainly not saying my way is better, you're certainly a better player than I am, but this feels easier to me just messing with it in the first few minutes. Thanks!

When doing hammers I do keep my fingers curled and use only the finger tips to strike the string, however, for pull-offs I find it necessary to allow the tip joints to collapse as it seems to allow the fingers to be more relaxed, especially the ring and the pinky which share a tendon. Not sure if this is technically correct, but if I play pull-offs with perfectly curled fingers and keep the tip joints tensed so they don’t collapse, my hand feels stiff and I have difficulty playing legato passages, especially those which involve ring and pinky… any ideas?

Super metroid is more of an experience than a game. Unfortunately an important part of being able to have that experience requires you latch on to social hype, have nintendo power as your primary source of nintendo game information, and the internet doesn't exist. Still I'm sure younger kids would enjoy it as "a pretty cool game"

I also think Brandon D'eon or however you spell his last name has some good ones too but that guy barely posts any videos.
