Congratulations to Reeve Harper for guessing first what bike I'd bought from only the terrible little cropped photo of it I uploaded! Well done buddy. This is a bit different as far as my first ride videos go, but I really wanted to share my experience of buying my first bike because as you can see, it didn't go at all how I'd thought... I really considered scrapping all of that footage because I felt that I came off as ungrateful or a bit of a brat in it, but decided to post it anyway in the hopes that if anyone who watches ever finds themselves in that same position, they'll know not to panic and just give it time. The $1,000 Dirt Bike Challenge BTS livestream is still to come, I just haven't really had a chance to gather my thoughts on the experience before I talk about it all... even though all you guys have heard is radio silence from me since the last episode went up, it's actually been really full on for me! I'll let you guys know if any big news comes out of it. It became clear on the #1KDBC that Sowman Films can't continue to grow without venturing into other streams of revenue, the videos are simply getting too expensive to rely solely on the RUclips monetization system... so I've re-launched my Patreon as the first of a few methods we'll be trying here in the near future. If you can afford it please head over there, check out the rewards available and consider supporting the channel that way in order to help us move on with bigger and better projects going forward! And if you like my new gear, head over to www.moto-loko.com/ to check it and many other cool setups and products out! If there's anything you like, be sure to enter the code: SOWMAN14 at checkout to get 14% off your order! Man... that was a long pinned comment. Felt I owed you all a good update! Until next time, hit that like button, make sure you're subscribed and look forward to more WR content, and of course the not-so-subtly-teased 2 stroke build that's coming up! Cheers - Ash

Amazing how much that trail looks like where I ride in the south eastern US. Particularly in North Carolina. Pines, sandy soil, pine needles on the ground and tight! The WR250R is on the top of my list for my next bike purchase. You’ve just reinforced that decision! Great video man! Thanks!

Nice bike. Keen on some more Anatori videos. Basically because I get to live vicariously through watching your videos. Got to get a crew down there some time
Crazy you mentioned a comparison video between your WR and that Husky TE 250. Those are the exact two bikes I'm considering, so I would love to see that video.
Wanted the softer suspension and smoother engine for riding this sort of stuff mainly. Same reason for going 250 over 450 too really, they're a bit more surgical with their power delivery
It's the finance that pissed on ya chips and your a great RUclips bro I ride a xr250r a crf250r as well big respect from here in UK the real South Wales haha
After hearing you mention what you felt you had to do yo get it 'dirt ready' I'm wondering why you didn't just get the yz250fx? It's already setup that way, just missing the headlight, gauges and fan. I'm not trying to throw shade at you, just curious in your decision, I've seen these bikes raced in stock form, and doing the research myself before buying one I've noticed everyone saying to also do these mods to make it like the FX, so why not just buy the FX if that's what you want? Or did you essentially want an FX with a fan and enduro gauges? I'm honestly just curious man, keep on riding!
Nice video! Those trail rides look like fun, are they on the south island, and if so, where abouts? Would love to give that trail a ride myself sometime.
Yeah I did mate, 2020 and up they're extremely similar bikes aye. Main difference I noticed was that with the shorter exhaust, the FX seemed to run a lot cleaner. Not necessarily faster just cleaner, this WR seems to run a bit rough in the bottom end, have been mucking around with maps since I got it but not much improvement thus far
I thought the wr250f did NOT come with turn signals? only the 250r (street legal) one did? Also, why do you have to change so many things when you first get it? Is it for a specific riding style? do you recommend this bike without doing all those modifications first?
Awesome bike! I too bought my first ever brand new bike 6 months ago, a 21 YZ250F! I bet these bikes feel very similar. Mine I bought specifically for track riding, but I occasionally take it on the trails. Biggest complaint is stiff suspension of course on the trails, I just turn the clickers out. Also I really wish mine had a 6speed. No worries though, usually I ride my 1996 Kx250 on the trails, it's great 😃
The WR is the only other brand I'd consider after 2 x Shercos in a row. The 300 SEF 4T with KYBs is a good bit of gear, Yamaha Australia say they sell heaps of WRs but we never see them in the bush. (I've seen 2 x 450s in the last year and no 250s where we ride)
I like most things about the wr250f except for the sound it makes in low rpms or when u pin the throttle from slow speeds but it's not a problem so it's not to bad
