Shikamaru finishing off Hidan was so good, that whole sequence was brilliantly done with Asuma and the dialogue and the visuals, just everything you would want :) and then ofc the big bang Naruto finally pulling off the Rasenshuriken and devastating Kakuzu with a beautiful hit :D
Shikamaru Vs Hidan is the ultimate revenge arc. Nothing was gratuitous or filled with rage, it was poetic and necessary. It also perfectly fits with Shikamaru’s character and abilities. Flawless storytelling

He conditionned Kakuzu into thinking badly : he first sent his clones to gain experience, but at the same time, he made Kakuzu think that the real one was staying in the back, gathering intel while his clones fought. That was clever. Then Naruto showed his jutsu, making Kakuzu HEAVILY focus on it (Rightly so, since Kakuzu is so experienced he knew it was a one hit jutsu). Then Naruto rushed in with his clones (Kakuzu could easily dispatch them but Naruto knew he would go for the "real naruto" with the "dangerous jutsu"). He manipulated him. Some people would say that Naruto doesnt think this far, but the whole manga prove the opposite. It's his thing to do that, alway has been (He tricked Zabuza, an experience warrior, when he was fresh out of the Academy) and tricked Neji, a genius. And a later fight will prove just how far naruto can outsmart someone in battle. I just love how Kishimoto writes combat, its very elaborate
Yeah but honestly the way kishi suddenly forgets ways to counter the strategies he creates is hilarious. Naruto wanted to fight on his own, using the wind-fire combination with wide range that he used against Kakashi ino choji and shikamaru would have been the best way to deal with it since rasenshuriken was a direct hit attack. However instead of going for wide range attacks perfect to deal with multiple opponents he goes for the piercing attacks in the air where he would be more vulnerable even from other enemies’ attacks. Even against neji if neji had byakugan still active he would have figured out Naruto tactic in a moment. The favourite one is still against zabuza because it didn’t rely on opponent’s stupidity or luck to work.

(Also don't forget sai, sakura😒 and shikamaru on the way back).Then, neji's fight same thing, unpredictable.Despite neji is genius he is still a genin plus he is cocky.A fate is what it is for him so he can't be beaten by Naruto in his mind.He blocked Naruto chakra one time then didn't know about kyubi so once the kyubi chakra is gone the second time it is normal to think it is definitely finished knowing both going all out on their last attack.He's done exactly what kiba said at the beginning "underestimate Naruto" all along (And neji too hasn't got much chakra left since he has released most of the rest for Naruto chakra kyubi mode).Dojutsus demanding lot of chakra.Him too do not have as much chakra as Naruto.So well I know the techniques in Naruto are so amazing that you can't listen key phrases in the show sometimes (it also happening to me but not often 😅) but you need to pay more attention to it because they always do this purposely for us audience to fully understand the process.

Even Kakashi can do a wind jutsu to match Yamato's water style to cancel out that attack. Kakuzu knew that attack would be waste of chakra. It' pretty easy to understand if you ask me lol. Also Neji was cocky. He thought he was winning that fight underestimating Naruto 🤷🏽♂️

Kakashi and Yamato wouldn't just stand there and wait for Naruto to get incinerated lol. It's not their character to do that. Kakuzu's combo jutsu is useless in this situation that's why he switched to long range
In the manga, the reason it was so difficult to light the lighter is because shikamaru was using it... to finish asuma's final pack of cigarettes. They don't show it in the anime because they don't want to encourage smoking.
Fits better that it wasn't working until Asuma's spirit lit it by saying his final farewells to Shikamaru, like his spirit was keeping it from lighting so he could materialize. Similar to how in media or belief or what have you that spirits can be bound to objects. So his spirit was bound to the lighter until he could finally move on in that moment as Shikamaru lit the spirit cigarette. That's my take on the anime interpretation.

I usually look at the mini screen of the episode shown in every reaction video of other youtubers I watch. But when it's FLexiejay, I only focus on her pretty face reacting the entire video 🤧🫶
in the flash back with Asuma if you look at context clues back in og naruto Shikamarus very first mission as team captain, at the end the talk with his dad, you can see the correlation between that conversation and this flashback his dads words really stuck to him, that's also why Shikamaru took Asumas death personal, as if he fucked up and did do enough.
Shikamaru teaching immortal guy that there are actually things worse than death. He is buried alive and is unable to do anything about it since his body is in pieces. Even if by some miracle he is able to stick himself back together without any stitching and dig himself out the deer watching over it will warn Shikamaru.

Yeah, after getting torn by rasenshuriken, his body is like someone in the last stage of acute radiation sickness just before dying, with every single cell in his body broken, and unable to regenerate cause his DNA is also presumably destroyed by those trillions of super tiny wind chakra needles. Very painful way to go, a fitting end for him.

OMFG i just realized this rewatching this with you. The hole shikamaru made for the akatski member, That's the same hole he went to fetch Choji out of when Choji was training. Choji made that for him!!!!!!!!!
Something that people might misunderstand is that Shikimaru's clan has a special relationship with the deer in that forest. Like Shikimaru said only his clan was alowed in there. This is more than just tradition we see that a deer actually dug up Asuma's lighter and returned it to Shikimaru so the deer actually "understand" the situation and are helpping Shikimaru's clan. Just like the deer helpped with the lighter the deer will burry Hidan's head over and over again no matter how many times he digs himself out which is why Hidan was so afraid of that deer reveal (which don't even eat meat). So lets all take care of the forests and animals of the world. As long as the generation of deer survive they will keep us all safe from Hidan!
The clones helped him do years worth of work every day, so I would not count that against Lord Fourth, especially since the guy had other things to do throughout the day. Naruto trained all day with clones, Lord Fourth had missions, a war, hokage duties, being a sensei and his family to occupy his time. Depending on when exactly he was developing this jutsu.
I don't know why but until now, ever since I watched Naruto as a kid and knowing about immortal characters and stuff like Hidan as I grow up, it always stuck to me on how to kill an immortal like him is to just.. In my opinion is to chuck him into a volcano because of it's lava. lol I don't really know why that's the most feasible way to "kill" an immortal.. to me that is and it's always living in my head rent free all the time. Gotta love the akatsuki on how ridiculous and strong they are.
The anime is great, but it really wouldnt be what it is without the absolutely spectacular soundtrack. To me its top tier, right up there with the AoT soundtrack, and THAT is saying something.
Naruto took out three lives with one attack. I heard Hidan starved to death after a few weeks buried. IDK if that is accurate, but it makes sense to me. Would suck to be buried under several tons of earth and rocks like that. Yeah that high pitch was quite painful, they could have toned it down a bit. But then again, it emphasises the power of the attack, so I guess that is why they went with that sound.
Hidan is still alive. But he is blown to pieces and buried alive. He is completely incapacitated and will never come out of his grave. His existence now becomes an eternal torture with no mercy of redemption. In addition, his "grave" is in the territory of the Nara clan, which is why no one will ever find the place. This fight was planned absolutely perfectly and this is just one of the scenes in Naruto why he is number 2 in my favorite character. Naruto is number 1, Hinata is number 3.
Im always remebering this moment when some low bob villain is tanking a Rassengan like sure its not a rassen shuriken but Rassengan is still an A or S level jutsu and bro is spaming them like when Narutos student almost killed the one person with a Rassengan cause the person underestimated the student thats how they should feel like
Not only did he 1 shot an akatsuki, that specific member managed to survive a battle with Hashirama, the "god" of shinobi. Oh, and Naruto was already majorly fatigued from a week long hyper training session. No biggie or anything aha

Naruto learned more jutsu training for a few days, than spending 3 years with Jiraiya, and no matter how ridiculous it is, Die Hard Naruto fans would still try to defend this by making up their own theories..lol
Wasted all those years with Jiraiya. Shadow clone, Rasengan are jounin level techniques, and Bunta is Hokage level. Jiraiya never thought to teach him something to setup the rasengan or anymore advanced jutsu. He should have been around this level after all those years

And I think they also did it that way to increase the character drive for Naruto to get stronger than Sasuke and make him look more intimidating. I think compared to Luffy and Goku, Naruto had the weaker time-skip in terms of his combative prowess.
He died a sore loser, more like. He couldn't accept his defeat, so he just screamed anything that he can to get Shikamaru to be flustered. Unfortunately, Shikamaru didn't give a damn about him.

Kakuzu had arguable one of the worst deaths. To be torn apart at a cellular level and not entirely dying is just plain torture.

Something that people might misunderstand is that Shikimaru's clan has a special relationship with the deer in that forest. Like Shikimaru said only his clan was alowed in there. This is more than just tradition we see that a deer actually dug up Asuma's lighter and returned it to Shikimaru so the deer actually "understand" the situation and are helpping Shikimaru's clan. Just like the deer helpped with the lighter the deer will burry Hidan's head over and over again no matter how many times he digs himself out which is why Hidan was so afraid of that deer reveal (which don't even eat meat). So lets all take care of the forests and animals of the world. As long as the generation of deer survive they will keep us all safe from Hidan!

The clones helped him do years worth of work every day, so I would not count that against Lord Fourth, especially since the guy had other things to do throughout the day. Naruto trained all day with clones, Lord Fourth had missions, a war, hokage duties, being a sensei and his family to occupy his time. Depending on when exactly he was developing this jutsu.

I don't know why but until now, ever since I watched Naruto as a kid and knowing about immortal characters and stuff like Hidan as I grow up, it always stuck to me on how to kill an immortal like him is to just.. In my opinion is to chuck him into a volcano because of it's lava. lol
I don't really know why that's the most feasible way to "kill" an immortal.. to me that is and it's always living in my head rent free all the time.

The anime is great, but it really wouldnt be what it is without the absolutely spectacular soundtrack. To me its top tier, right up there with the AoT soundtrack, and THAT is saying something.
Naruto took out three lives with one attack. I heard Hidan starved to death after a few weeks buried. IDK if that is accurate, but it makes sense to me. Would suck to be buried under several tons of earth and rocks like that. Yeah that high pitch was quite painful, they could have toned it down a bit. But then again, it emphasises the power of the attack, so I guess that is why they went with that sound.

Hidan is still alive. But he is blown to pieces and buried alive. He is completely incapacitated and will never come out of his grave. His existence now becomes an eternal torture with no mercy of redemption.
In addition, his "grave" is in the territory of the Nara clan, which is why no one will ever find the place.
This fight was planned absolutely perfectly and this is just one of the scenes in Naruto why he is number 2 in my favorite character. Naruto is number 1, Hinata is number 3.

Not only did he 1 shot an akatsuki, that specific member managed to survive a battle with Hashirama, the "god" of shinobi. Oh, and Naruto was already majorly fatigued from a week long hyper training session. No biggie or anything aha

I think his training with Jiraiya was more to improve his strategic skills and controlling the Nine Tails chakra rather than coming up with new Jutsu.
Wasted all those years with Jiraiya. Shadow clone, Rasengan are jounin level techniques, and Bunta is Hokage level. Jiraiya never thought to teach him something to setup the rasengan or anymore advanced jutsu. He should have been around this level after all those years

And I think they also did it that way to increase the character drive for Naruto to get stronger than Sasuke and make him look more intimidating. I think compared to Luffy and Goku, Naruto had the weaker time-skip in terms of his combative prowess.

you can say what you want about Hidan, but he "died" a respectful death. Badass. didn't beg for his life or anything, he died with his honor intact.
He died a sore loser, more like. He couldn't accept his defeat, so he just screamed anything that he can to get Shikamaru to be flustered. Unfortunately, Shikamaru didn't give a damn about him.
