It always seems to me in these designs that people do not appreciate how corrosive sea water is, nor do they realize how much battering things take while in the sea.

The energy output could be significantly amplified by taking advantages of the harbor resonance concept, if a caisson is built to house the generator, preferable on the top of the float. The energy output can also be adjusted to harness the incoming wave magnitudes with sensors. BTW, the generator cannot be placed in series, since the ones in the front will extract energy and lower the wave hights for the subsequent ones. Anyway, it is a good idea to extract energy with magnets and coils, so no sea water will be pumped and stored.

Considering the technical challenges wavepower mecanisum face.
    Extreme weather.
    Attachments to wires and cables.
The transfer of power to shore and location issues I would like to propose a novel idea.
Consider a large ship at sea it's movements rolling and pitching .
All minimized by modern ship design.
If such a ship were more like a submarine which was designed to roll and pitch as much as possible.
A closed veshale containg battery's and an inertia pump ( hydrolic pump connected to "subs" skin with one way valves and a series of pistons ) to harness the energy of vessels movements.
This would be out at sea with a charger for a battery ship to be plugged in receive the charge in battery's or some other storage device.
Given the improvement in battery's chargers and ship dynamic knowledge.
One cubic meter of water is a tonne, given the right location out at sea much power could be harnessed with out being compromised by tipical difficulty's.

you would also lose efficiency when collecting the electricity into the battery and also when extracting it as well. All green energy generators are notoriously inefficient to begin with so that is why I think they decided to use wires/cables. That way they can get the maximum output while minimizing losses. Also, we think our battery tech is advanced and efficient but the reality is that they are not as good as they've been portrayed.
