As a songwriter I wish I could bargain my conscious, as Andy does, to be a part of this euphonious realm; where such imaginative music endures. The emotion, the scope, and the sense of necessity for reason, in each note is free of ego. This song is simply awe-inspiring.
My... Lord... How anyone could sit through this entire song and not think it's one of the most beautiful, delicate, genuine and heartfelt compositions they've ever heard... Blows my mind. There is plenty of beautiful music in the world today, but there's something about the way Andy plays this song... There are no vocals, but I can hear a voice. There's beauty in the simplicity of a single acoustic guitar, finger picking and a particular ambience that just takes over. Gorgeous.
The beautiful thing about Andy McKee is that he doesn't develop music to showcase his technique, he develops technique to showcases his music. A lot of guitarist play from their fingers. He plays from his ears.
Andy, Antoine and even Nicholas Barron, these are the future of classic music for our kids, I know it's gonna be about all I listen to for a long time, this music put your whole being at peace. I don't think that can be denied.
I had Pandora on when I went to sleep this morning. I woke up hearing something so beautiful, almost celestial."Nakagawa-san". Thank you Andy for making me smile.
Saw him Sunday in San Antonio. He was absolutely amazing. He played Common ground and in the middle of the song transitioned to Smoke on the Water and then back the song. I shook his hand and got a few pictures with him!
I just come back from his gig in worcester! Absolutely blew me away, not only is he an outstanding guitarist but he is such a great man! Hope to see him again!
The thing I love about Andy Mckee is that you don't have to wonder what he is like in person.. his music tells you everything about him. I'm not a religious person but I have to say if there such a thing as a soul it comes from expression. No one ever fights on the comments of his videos.. If one thing could truly change the world and bring people together it is music like this. There may not be a specific point in life but music is one incredible things we humans can make.
8 years later and your comment is still accurate. Looks like Andy made his best work in his early 20s (Rylynn, Art of Motion, For my Father). He seems to have lost the spark unfortunately
You´re the best guitarist in the world . your harmonies, your chords seems to come from heaven . I´m a musician too from spain and I think that your music is the authentic way , not only incredible tecnic but deep feelings of joy and sweetness too. Thank you very much
This song among others by Andy are so encouraging. They give light in a dark time and help us better understand ourselves. Everything he writes is so sincere and true, you can't help but be moved, changed and renewed after each listen. There isn't much more things that are as relaxing as listening to this.
Andy has over the last year and a half become one of my absolute favorite guitarists... and I'm so jealous that my friend got to see him live and I didn't have money/time to take the trip.
always when I listening this song, I thinking about my life... what I made wrong, what I should do better... this song is saying me stop!! sit down and thinking.... and say thanks all the gifts what you got from God... thanks Andy this song!
"Nakagawa-san" A dedication to the steel-string forefather of Japan, Isato Nakagawa. Isato invited me to perform with him and Masaaki Kishibe in Japan back in 2005. It was such an honor and I absolutely loved the culture and people. In this tune I tried to emulate parts of Isato's style, particularly his guitar vibrato, by shaking the entire guitar. "
I've met him several times on concerts and have talked a lot with him about his music and family - he is an amazing person, and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to meet him :)
Must be blissful and a blessing to be able to express yourself in such a way. The mix of feelings the song emits is just breathtaking... My utmost respect for you as a person and for the wonderful music you grace us with. I hope you won't ever stop.
Man, andy is like nothing i have ever seen or heard, and there will never be anyone like him. Hes just so good! He sound so good, just by himself. He shows why i love the acoustic guitar.
I bought both the new CD and DVD. Andy has so much talent that it's ridiculous. Can't wait till he gets out here to the West Coast (of America), specifically the Seattle Area. To Andy and the rest of the Amazing Talent over at Candy Rat records...keep pumping out those sweet sweet ones and I'll keep listening with Awe and Wonder. Thanks
On the contrary i felt that the 0:56-1:01 said "i love you" Ive watched this at LEAST 40-50 times and i still get goosebumps every time. Cant wait to try this song. Right now im working on For My Father. Tackled the hardest one first lol "Ebon Coast" What an inspiration!
the one thing I always love about Andy when you look at his pages is the lack of silly troll responses from people looking to argue about who is the best guitarist etc, everyone just wants to rave about how amazing his music is.
Some people deserve to live forever, it would be beneficial to many generations of people to draw inspiration for the wonderfully well crafted sound this man can create as well as the relaxation and happiness people inevitably feel listening to it.
I'm a big fan of Don Ross, Antoine Dufour, Nicholas Barron, Gregory Hoskins and have listened to a number of other Candyrat composers and musicians, and I cannot deny that I always return to Andy. Nothing is more relaxing hearing Mr Mckee sit and play an acoustic - it's beautiful, thank you Andy :)
Beautiful. The one thing I really love about Andy is his ability to construct gorgeous melodies and even when he plays more flashier tunes there is always a strong melodic presence. Looking forward to seeing him with Tommy Emmanuel in November, that gig is a fingerstyle guitarist's wet dream!
For the record...he is a fantastic person. I had the fortune of meeting him briefly, several times, in person while I was in my awkward phase...and HE was the one to try to break the ice...as if he was the one trying to get to know ME, rather than the other way around. Just a great personality, overall.
Hey Andy McKee thanks for the wonderful music. My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so grateful to be able to hear what great music you play. it really helps me.
I don't play acoustic, I play electric, but love listening to acoustic. I don't listen to alot and don't have much experience with it, but the thing I said when this video started playing, before I read your comment was "That guitar sounds amazing!" It has a very subtle sound to it, it's the perfect tuning.
This dude's is a serious diamond in the rough. Despite all the nonsensical bullshit music that violently pollutes our airways, Andy reminds us that there can be truth, purity, and beauty in music. Andy is not a show of finger movement, or stage antics. Nor is here to be persuaded into composing monotonous "hits" for the mainstream boreheads. He's a breath of fresh air. He's a fuckin' Musician man. You're the truth Andy.
its amazing how diverse his songs are. he puts so much feeling into each one that they each seem to have their own style. not like many artists in todays media.
I'm thinking that last chord is maybe the best chord ever played in musical history. Love the way Andy bows at the end in humility to the nirvana he just created.
tuning, passion & dedication to practice. Will get u playing like this after so many years. he plays nearly all with caps and drop d`s instead of the e`s
I'm going right out and buying everything I can by this guy. From my (a guitarist of a year and a half) point of view, this is absolutely astounding. There is really no way to describe how much respect I have for Andy or how amazing his music is. I mean, it's almost a religious experience just listening to him.
I think Andy i WICKED as well. I think your music sound amazingly uplifting through skill. I always feel happy when i hear your art especially Rylynn And A Friend I Never Met. THANK YOU!!!!!
Being a song writer myself,(decent at it) I find the best music I write is inspired by things I have experienced both good and bad. I can't begin to imagine the happenings that inspire something so heartfelt each and every time he picks up his guitar. Go on with your bad self Andy McKee.
music like this gives me a sense i can relax and that i'm grounded. there's so much mess in the outside world and it's all unecessary. thanks andy, God's using you
ive been playing this song for awhile now and let me tell you, the clearity and flow that comes out of this video its very difficult to recreate. Although playing it has been a blessing Andy Mckee will always be in a catergory of his own.
RIP Isato Nakagawa. Thank you for showing Andy your drive to spread the art of solo steel-string acoustic guitar in Japan. You were truly inspiring!
R.I.P MAESTRO NAKAGAWA ...
Perfect example of a musician pouring his heart out through the instrument.
+Travis Bowman like your music
and that is precisely why it sounds so beautiful.
I watched my beautiful bride walk down the aisle to this song.....such a truly gifted player
such a wonderful thing. you chose well. and I'd be lucky to have such a moment
Melissa Turriff you will be one day!
Fake
As a songwriter I wish I could bargain my conscious, as Andy does, to be a part of this euphonious realm; where such imaginative music endures. The emotion, the scope, and the sense of necessity for reason, in each note is free of ego. This song is simply awe-inspiring.
That last strum gave me chills ♥ amazing song
The last few notes... they always get me. I love how those strings ring with the sound of mastery.
An afternoon where the light is just right and the wind blows softly over water. Yea, that place, this song took me there.
Im right there too bro, lets have a barbeque :3
My... Lord... How anyone could sit through this entire song and not think it's one of the most beautiful, delicate, genuine and heartfelt compositions they've ever heard... Blows my mind. So sweet, this music just lifts me up to a place I never want to leave
The beautiful thing about Andy McKee is that he doesn't develop music to showcase his technique, he develops technique to showcases his music. A lot of guitarist play from their fingers. He plays from his ears.
This song is Awesome!
When I listen to it, all the pain inside is over
Andy, Antoine and even Nicholas Barron, these are the future of classic music for our kids, I know it's gonna be about all I listen to for a long time, this music put your whole being at peace. I don't think that can be denied.

Jonathan Westbay Hey, Jonathan.
this man was born with a gift,
he didnt even take lessons,
not many people can play to his standards, he, is a true virtuoso of the instrument
Turned me from metal and now i thank you
+Kevin Rice Andy is actually a huge metal head, fun fact for ya.

Ive been playing for nearly 20 years and for those of us that know what were seeing Andy is incredible. He was born to play acoustic guitar.
Andy's compositions back then were so mellow and simple compared to his newer stuff. I would like to hear more stuff like this from Andy.
8 years later and your comment is still accurate. Looks like Andy made his best work in his early 20s (Rylynn, Art of Motion, For my Father). He seems to have lost the spark unfortunately
Dig deeper my friend. Andy has not changed. Maybe your ears have to his music. Andy has remained consistent.
You´re the best guitarist in the world . your harmonies, your chords seems to come from heaven . I´m a musician too from spain and I think that your music is the authentic way , not only incredible tecnic but deep feelings of joy and sweetness too. Thank you very much

The up-strum at the end of this song always literally makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. Definitely one of my favorites.
Andy has over the last year and a half become one of my absolute favorite guitarists... and I'm so jealous that my friend got to see him live and I didn't have money/time to take the trip.

i cant believe this is one of his fewest viewed songs, its utterly fantastic
Just beautiful! I love the little harmonics he adds here and there, he is one of my favorite guitarists!
I've met him several times on concerts and have talked a lot with him about his music and family - he is an amazing person, and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to meet him :)
Just imagine what kind of soul a person has to have to compose such a song...
Dear Andy,
You are one of the greatest guitarists alive, you inspire me
You're not kidding. It blows me away with every listen on the CD.
This song and Ouray are my two favorites.
That was a great song. To be able to write and play that well is a real gift.
Must be blissful and a blessing to be able to express yourself in such a way. The mix of feelings the song emits is just breathtaking... My utmost respect for you as a person and for the wonderful music you grace us with. I hope you won't ever stop.

I saw him yesterday in Germany and he just blew me away!! So amazing..
the one thing I always love about Andy when you look at his pages is the lack of silly troll responses from people looking to argue about who is the best guitarist etc, everyone just wants to rave about how amazing his music is.
Simply a beautiful musical soundscape. His guitar sings for him....
Congratulations Andy! The music is perfect and is being heard here in Brazil!
One of Andy's best songs... if not the best of the best... lovely tune masterpiece
I can't explain with words the feelings that this song make me feel... His talent is a present from God! Thanks to Him for giving us this....

I've heard a myraid of beautiful acoustic guitar songs over the years, but this one is perfection.
Just the right use of dynamics, really, really, beautiful.
