I'm a Christian, but I want to say I think it's very nice and I respect you for insisting that the deceased be treated with respect. It's very informative and educational for me so I have a better understanding of how different cultures conduct their disposition of the dead.

I am not a Muslim, in fact, I do not practice any particular religion, however, I found the ritual of the preparation for the burial of the deceased person most beautiful and appreciated the respect that is shown to the dead. I would love to be treated in this way at the end of my life. Thank you, Darussalam Masjid for your sensitive and informative demonstration.

Services are quite beautiful. Think it depends on what is defined as a casket though .Have not seen a lavish casket, but some Muslims are buried in a wooden box. Things are kept simple.

@@eleventhdragon2221 actually it’s haram for a body to be buried in a casket, however some schools of thoughts say it’s permissible to carry the body to the grave in a casket but that once the body is near the grave it needs to be taken out of the casket and to be buried with only a white cloth.

@@ab_12_8 no, it's not haram but makruh which roughly means "not recommended/not advised" unlike haram where it means "strongly against/not allowed". About the casket however if somehow some conditions requires the usage of casket then it is allowed (mutilation of some part of the body, death caused by accidents, etc)

My dad passed away from cancer on a Saturday almost midnight and had to be taken to the mosque at night because the hospital didn't have a morgue. The next day Sunday was his funeral service and about 15 different nationalities all Muslim came to help and prey and my dad was buried at 1pm on a Sunday, that's was very overwhelming for me as I had to go into the grave and take his body for the final time before he was completely buried. The help and the well wishes from different nationalities yet all Muslim left me speechless and just shows that Muslims are wonderful caring people.

Ceremony? A ceremony is when family and friends gather, have a religious and a private gathering together the last services to a loved one. In that culture in case you haven't noticed it's only men, noone cares about the wife, daughters or female relatives who are EXCLUDED 100% there is no music but a hole in the cemetery, again only men (this is only a bit different in western countries that require a coffin by law)! After that the hole is closed! End of funeral....no speeches no family but males, no flowers no nothing. I strongly advice you to look at a "cemetary" in a country under "is*lamic law, it's not kept up no decent upkept graves/cemetery, nothing, maybe a sad marker and that's it. There is no family visiting or upkeeping the grave as we do in western countries, where we upkeep the burial sites of our loved ones! So I have no idea what you call a "nice ceremony"! Maybe I missed the "ceremony" part!

@@deusvult2302 1 women are not allowed to visit due to a command of the prophet.
we don't have speeches but we collectively make dua (prayer) for the the deceased and ask Allah to forgive their sins etc.
Lots of family are there at the funeral and so are lots of strangers that we have never met. this is open to anyone who wants to do the prayer or to attend the burial. easily around 100 people or upwards.
we are advised to visit the graves one in a while but at the same time we are not allowed to visit regularly.
we do not put flowers on the grave as its also no from Islam.
We don't do this out of hate or anything that has malice. We do this because we are ordered to. We hear and we obey.
We are also told to treat a deceased body like we would treat one that is conscious. This is because if we harm them, it would be like if we did that to them as if they were alive

I never got to go to her funeral and all through the years I often consider many many times how her body was prepared and about her Muslim burial..She was a Moroccan Muslim and I have returned to Morocco to find her grave and pay my respects but could not find it. My search still continues and will until I find her grave. I plan to visiting Morocco again in 2018 and will be there for about a month to search for her. Rest in peace still, Rashida Ousfar. Help her. But, this is part of the process. As an RN now in California I would fly out to prepare her for burial in any way possible. And God help anyone who gets in the way of that. She trusts me. Amen. Granny you are leaving this messed up world soon, but I’ll see you again before we know it. You are my best friend!!! I love you so much, it makes me heartsick. When I was doing my training as a nurse I had to perform "last offices" on several of my patients. what I was taught was no different from what I've seen here. The patient MUST be treated with dignity at ALL times. Their private areas were never exposed, unless it was a man and only exposed for a brief moment by the nurse who tied up the penis tip to prevent loss of bodily fluids. Even then it was all done under the covers. Once qualified I specialised in anaesthetics and through my life I've learned Arabic not too much but enough to make my muslim patients especially ladies more comfortable with the experience of undergoing surgery.

And the first person to have clothes on will be the Prophet Abraham (Ibraheem). A'isha may Allah be pleased with her, the Prophet's wife, said: People looking at one another O Prophet of Allah?! Coleb Arinaitwe
brother islam is religion of all prophets starting from adam and likes of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus PBUT etc and Mohammad PBUH was last messenger. To become a muslim you need to rectice by tongue and accept by heart the Shahadah. The shahadah is "I bear witness that there is no god except God(one true formless, traitless all powerful God who is beyond reach mind and imagination) and that Mohammad is his servant and messenger."
While recite the shahadah you need two witnesses to know you accept islam but if you find no muslim or fear for your life then you neither need to declare orally nor you need two witnesess just acceptance of heart is enough for you to be a muslim in such a case.
there are five pillars of islam:
      1. Sahadah
      2. prayer 5 times a day
      3. fasting in the month of Ramadan.
      4. Zakaat/charity giving atleast 2.5% of your income in charity.
5.Haj/pilgrimage to Mecca if you have health and resources than once in life time it is obligatory..but if you don't have money or health is not permitting then you are excused..
apart from these there is daily duties of muslim which you will find in islamic books..hope it helps.

In America in the early days, burials were handled not much differently. Family members took the body, prepared it, washed it, dressed it and placed it in a homemade coffin. Funerals were often held the next day as there was no preservation. Families and neighbors dug the grave, lowered the body and filled the grave. Simple, personal and caring.

This puts my grandparents’ burial in context; they were buried within hours of death, interred in Abuja. My grandmother requested that we have a good meal upon her death, but I wasn’t hungry. 😢
Though we weren’t the same religion, our grandparents loved us passionately. I feel at peace knowing their bodies were taken well care of.

Patricia Bjeijeh in a real life circumstance there are only the imam and a few helpers allowed in the preperation of the deceased. no body is allowed to walk in or interrupt them. in the video he is demonstrating to possible future imams or helpers for edicational purpose, so l guess some of the people are just thereout of curiosity.

    • @Spacereform3
      @Spacereform3 6 лет назад +3

Susy, The imam wasnt talking about a deseased woman. This is why its important for you to know and understand what you are talking about before you speak.
Before preparing a body for the funeral, you must cleanse yourself, women wash the female bodies, and men wash the mens bodies. So he was saying that when the women are preparing a female body, before hand when it is time to make ''ghusl'' (Ablution or cleaning ritual) which is a bath or shower, that they often take longer then men to complete their ablutions.
And the imam was trying to make light of the situation by bringing this up, and asking why they are taking so long because the body must be completed by a certain time.
All of this was true, its not a secret, we women, do indeed take longer to complete such tasks VS men. We take great pride in keeping up with our appearance and hygeine.
I think it was a simple misunderstanding on your part, by try to do some research on certain matters before taking offense. You are obviously watching this video out of curiosity, or to expand your knowledge on others religious beleifs and practices, so that is great, just try to do the same when somebody is talking about something you have little to no knowledge on as well.

+PaddyK293E Yes; giving precedence to the right side is something many observant/strict followers of the Abrahamic religions do in their daily lives(showering, washing etc) In secularized culture much of the preference of right side before left is still evident such as in the english word "sinister".www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=sinister

No, you didn’t ask a stupid question rather the opposite!
Overall the process of washing the deceased Muslim male and female are similar, but the washing process just takes longer as the brother stated.
However, as the brother mentioned in the workshop that the Muslimah have 5 pieces of cloth whereas the men have only 3:
      1) 2 sheets: to shroud like with the men that was wrapped over first from left then right as shown in the video.
      2) 1 Sheet as a dress with a hole placed for the neck-like with the men (Khamees for men).
      3) 1 Sheet as a Hijab: to cover the hair, this is placed after the dress but before the two sheets to shroud the whole body.
      4) 1 Sheet used as a petticoat/Slip: that the deceased Muslimah is already wearing before before the dress and Hijab are placed on her, to then be shrouded.
Aside from the extra number of sheets, the deceased Muslimah’s hair is also plaited into three sections after it’s thoroughly cleaned.
I hope that answers your queries.

Muslims are forbidden from using coffins and we abhor cremation.
The coffin is sometimes used for transportation but removed at the graveyard.
Going back to earth is very important to us.
We strictly shroid the dead in white cloth and place them in graves of earth.
The graves have nothing placed inside them, no walls, facade, anything.
Only wooden planks are placed above diagonaly and then he is buried with earth.
Muslims are not allowed to cremate people and should stop any cremation if they are able to.
      We consider cremation a sacrilege.

  • @asahel980
    @asahel980 6 месяцев назад

Kinda like it , instead of being pumped out and pumped in many chemicals in your body , although I prefer more cremation, I dont like the thought of my bones to be unburied, , nowadays in my country they require a concrete encasing in the ground , which pretty much will preserve your bones even for millenias if you dont get evicted because they need to build in that ground or any reason. probably why they made that policy so if ever they needed to get the bones out it would be more easy if its enclosed.
