  • FINALLY! This is something I've been wanting to do ever since I first saw these beautiful stones online. I have been to Michigan quite a bit over the last few years, but was just recently made aware of "Lightning Stones". I had no choice but to take a drive and go hunt for these beautiful and unique stones for myself! I think I had a great day!

I am always on board for a new Wild Kyle video!
Lake Michigan may as well be called an inland sea. Most people might not realize how much wave action there is, it can literally be surfed 🏄 at times. Michigan was my adopted home state for many years though I lived about as far from any shoreline as you can get in a state bordered with more than 3K miles of lake

    • @yayakelley7771
      @yayakelley7771 Год назад

I grew up on the lake and you are not wrong. The rip current is so strong (my mom use to call it the under tow) it makes Lk Michigan the most dangerous inland lake in the world. When I was a kid we use to go pier jumping on the North Beach just north of Pilgrim Haven. I’m lucky to be alive!

Wow wow wow. I found some very similar rocks to these lightning stones. Same except mine are literally smooth as if tumbled. I've searched and searched for their names. I used rock identifier and it says quartz and jasper high silica. I hardly ever noticed the calcite lines because the smoothness of them steal the show. Ur so cute and fun to watch. I admire ur ethic in reaching out of ur box a bit trying new stuff. Thanks for sharing. I'll watch as long as u keep em comin!!! Emily

Great adventure! Your on my home turf! Lake Michigan is the most dangerous lake in the country. Some 300,000 people have died in it, along with A Lot sunken ships. The riptide is awful. Creepy facts 😬🫣. However, it’s 300mi in both directions, make it the most awesome lake in the country also. It’s no wonder why we find the most fabulous rocks here. Septarians, Amethyst, Unakite, Agate, Jasper, loads of Fossils, Jade, and the list goes on and on.
Growing up on Lake Michigan has been a true blessing. Lots of my rockhound friends, started their passion from hounding these shores of the lake. I’m so glad you got to experience the beautiful and amazing treasure we have here. Come back and visit again soon! Let us know when and where so we can come out and join you in some shenanigans 😆😆
Thanks so much for sharing your adventures!
    Love your channel ❤️❤️
    Stay Crystal,

Hi Kyle! I hope you and your mother are doing well. The stones you show at 2:20 and 2:52, if the color is green and a pinkish-red, (kind of hard to tell on my monitor) it's unakite and looks very nice polished. If you are near Rob (Michigan Rocks), he knows unakite quite well. Unakite is made of quartz, epidote, and feldspar. My favorite lightening stone you found was the upper left one that you first said was your favorite. Thanks. Take care!

These waves are nothing compared to what Lake Superior can have. Glad you found some good ones! Don't cut any good ones open, they usually don't look that great. The brown doesn't take a good polish, but talk to Rob, I know he has been to that beach collecting. The cool fossil is my favorite. The first fossil.

Wow you got a bunch of really cool rocks! Those lightning stone are pretty cool! Your microphone is really good. Even as windy as it was, your mic picked up your voice and not the wind. So its an awesome mic. You are like a kid in a candy store! I absolutely love your enthusiasm. Unikite is green serpentine and feldspar. I think you can put mineral oil on some of those , and it will look wet without the damaging grinding down on it, to polish it. Some you can polish. You can cut into the ones that look like the calcite goes all the way through the rock, and then polish up the flat face on it, and it will look amazing! You are looking healthy now and happy, which is amazing. I hope your mom is doing good? I am keeping up the prayers for her. I donated to the go fund me. Im sorry i cant do more. But you are going to be a litt,e pickier, when looking for rocks on the lake! or just get a bigger bucket! You look great! Hope they turn out awesome for you, when you cut them! Thanks for sharing!

There is/was instability in the weather further west of you that was probably the wave maker. You did a great job. Love this video. You had a good day that makes a longer video. 🙏✌🏻❤️🙂🙏

Aren’t they great! Found some in New Jersey over the years. Good description. You look healthy!! The second colored rock is another metamorphic rock formed as different kinds of lava, sandstone, other metamorphic systems were reblended/heated/cooled under great pressure for millions of years. These “cobbles” have been rolled and deposited by glaciers and floods and retreating shores of lakes and creeks and oceans. Yes, millions of years. Loved your collecting!!

That's down by me! Pilgrim Haven and deer lick creek are the best spots in Michigan to find rocks

Hello Kyle, I think the lightning stones are too soft to tumble
You may want to hand polish them like Petoskey stones

Septarian nodules are so neat looking. I thought the weird geodes I find were septarians at first because they have that similar mud crack texture. 🤔 I’m thinking they must have formed in a similar way. They’re primarily quartz though not calcite.

Hi Kyle. I happen to live in Michigan and vacation on lake Huron. In Rogers City they have a calcite mine and across the road from the mine they have piled all the rock from the mine. It's my favorite place to visit. I too get lost in the rock hunt.
I'm watching you get excited about rocks I see all the time. It made me realize how we take things for granted. Look forward to seeing you cut into to those rocks. I'm thinking about trying that
