The Canal you were on about is the remains of an old arm of the Oxford canal that went up to Clifton Mill. Their was also a Station there at one time which was on the old Rugby to Peterborough railway line. The water you were throwing stones into is the River Avon.
Rugby wharf is part of a loop that came out of the main canal and went under the viaduct under those car sales. Then went past an old cement quarry and back in again.

In 1986 I worked across the road at Payless DIY, and I used to sit on that platform and have my lunch. A lot fewer trees then.

The viaduct over the main lines was called "The Birdcage", intriguing history
