I get why title swaps change from time to time ( mostly due to injury), but things have got so confusing with the TNT belt and the feud with Sammy/Scorpio that I just don't care for it anymore.
theres no real feud... its all about the intergender match but Paige is still training. Sammy and Tay grabbed the AAA titles. it was just a mess, hopefully they figure it all out
The worst part is, the main reason I enjoy AEW is because they very rarely have rematches. Scorpio and Sammy have been at it for months, and it's tiring. I get they want to wait for Paige, but I'd rather someone else took the title, and they come back to it once everyone is ready
I miss the days of Miro as champ, whenever his music hit the TNT title match became a spectacle. All the other runs only spoke of "making this title the top belt in AEW", but Miro was the only one that actually did it. It ended way too soon
I dont think brodie had a long enough reign. Like if he had it and lost it to darby (like I personally think was the plan) then its a bit more like the miro feel
@@kyril98741 two separate thoughts. But I meant more people challenging that weren't signed like when Cody had the title. I didn't properly explain that.
@@pazthepole2814 it wasn't bad. The interim title muddied the waters for me. When Sky won I thought we were on the right track but it has become a two man fued that I'm not at all invested in seeing.
They should make this the workhorse title. Weekly open challenges and the occasional hyped up match. AEW needs to add a 6man tag title. They have enough factions and depth to make this happen
What im most baffled about is the fact that after months, it seemed that they had figures it out when scorpio won back the title. He was a face being cheered, sammy and tay were heels getting booed, and aew could have worked with dissension in ATT. But they did a complete U turn. I simply dont get it
TK gave an interview where he stated that he wanted Sammy and Tay to be faces and not heels. I don't really get forcing them to be faces when the crowd clearly hates them for whatever reason. But, that's why they were made faces again. Which is too bad because I think that they were on the right track with both Sky being a face and them being heels. I would've loved to see SCU back together again. And Sammy has such a punchable face that him as a good guy just doesn't work for me.
This is exactly how I feel. Having Sammy win the title back from Scorpio was weird but I was willing to give it a pass because it was necessary to give the double turn some juice and make people excited to see Scorpio get his revenge and his win back. But now Scorpio turned heel again and the Sammy feud is continuing even though it’s heel vs heel and what the hell was the point of any of this? It’s an uncharacteristically WWE style of booking moments just to have moments and I hate it
@@user-fe8gx3ie5v He turned back to being a heel at the end of the Frankie Kazarian match last week where he, Lambert and Page triple-teamed Kaz and beat him in the face with the title
@@LimitedEditionDoritosBag It was such a garbage decision too. He's not exactly an amazing promo, but Scorpio felt more natural as a face than a heel, and all that tension he had with Ethan and Lambert felt more interesting than... well this.
so true i would have buy it a title run of scorpio as face, just let him defend again with sammy finish that bullshit of a feud than start a feud vs ethan where he defend and maybe lose the next one vs andrade or another heel. it could be nice maybe not the best thing but still way better of what we are seeing now
I hear you, first time for everything and no promotion is perfect AEW has been god tier astounding since it started and it has the potential to be even better, wwe still sucks in comparison so this is no where near enough to switch me off haha
Same for me. I watch weekly and mostly ignore reviews and break downs and enjoy the show for what it is. This has been a down period of the title and the booking around it at the moment has been really off. Skye is great as champion and should of gone face after the Kaz fight
Just a hack theory, but maybe TK is trying to make both Sammy and Scorpio both look as dislikeable as possible so that a returning Miro can steamroll over them to a huge pop and "Redeem" the championship?
Yeah! You may have something here. It's the only thing I can think of to justify why Scorpio and Sammy have been HEEL heels lately, like, hateable annoying shitty heels that we all WANT to boo. EVERYONE seems to want Miro back, and whether it happens at DoN or before that...he'd get a massive pop for saving us all from this, no question!
I really don't know how things could go so wrong, when it was clear how seriously they treated the TNT title in the beginning. Booking was methodical, and it really showcased talent. The open challenge was my favorite aspect because it added unpredictability. You never knew who was going to show up from outside AEW. Getting to see indy wrestlers you haven't seen before on national tv is exciting and fresh. The only missed spot with Cody was that he never turned heel with it. it would have been so easy to have him covet the belt because he couldn't challenge for the world title, the same way he became obsessed with usurping Kenny Omega in Bullet Club. He would get desperate because it's all he has left. There must be a lack of focus because of all the new wrestlers coming in, and they've got ROH to manage. For example, I don't know if MJF is just working the fans or what with his interviews about being unhappy, (I mean, when is the guy ever out of character, you know?) but if he really isn't being utilized in favor of ex-WWE talent, there's a problem. TK is already holding gold with what he has.
It was difficult & touch and go for a while - but it would have been great if Sky would have been face and Ethan was heel and Sammy stayed away from the title for a while. But just swerve upon swerve upon swerve
I agree! They’ve made the TNT title feel like a complete joke by doing this constant title changes back and forth. Another thing I haven’t liked with the title is the fact that ever since all out 2021, the title hasn’t been defended on a PPV. They honestly should have built up Sammy vs Miro for the tnt title at full gear 2021 to make Sammy title win feel bigger. He should have defended the title at revolution in a triple threat with Darby Allin and Andrade. The thing that makes it even worse is that I don’t think the tnt title will be defended at double or nothing as well because they are probably doing a mixed tag team match with Sammy and tay vs Scorpio and van zant.
That mixed tag team match deal is something I would see happen on a rare occasion on any of the 4 AEW weekly shows once, not on their PPV. I thought they dropped the idea and we would have a brief heel vs heel dynamic until Sky goes on a good reign for the first time until ALL OUT, FULL GEAR or Winter Is Coming. But, we got hit by the hot potato game idea, and the significance of the AEW TNT Championship is overshadowed by this angle. I hope Miro comes back and destroys all parties (Sky, Ethan, Lambert, Sammy, Tay, Kazarian) and restore the prestige aura over the title. 🙏
This and the House of Black stalling are two black marks on AEW right now. It’s strange cause everything else right now is pretty good. How they got lost in the shuffle is very unlike the company
Keep in mind, House of Black's momentum got stalled because Rey Fenix got injured right before Death Triangle and HoB were going to face off, so the whole angle has been stretched out.
@@JeremyBearimy913 That’s true. Just worried they’ll go the way of the Wyatt Family. Towards the end, all their promos meant nothing cause they weren’t doing anything
@@WTFUrNotJLo at least Andrade's bizarre threatment can be partially justified by his limitations at the mic that still prevent him from being at the top of the card (and Darby could not afford to lose another feud). The TNT title mess is just incomprehensible. HoB I hope will also move to some more interesting programmes after ending the feud with Death Triangle (which the should win, I'd guess with the help of Julia as otherwise that stretched angle would not make any sense either).
*"Throw your tomatoes at me."* This cracked me up. 😂 Anyways, the title changes from Sammy to Cody to Sammy to Sky to Sammy to Sky made me dizzy 😵 that TK has to stop and let one lead (Miro or Lance Archer) the AEW TNT Championship back to its prestige in honor of the past champions before Sammy Guevara.
Archer would be a good pick. Hell, he really should still have the credibility to become a title-holder in AEW despite the common perception that he "always loses the big matches"- he ended Jon Moxley's IWGP US Championship reign at Fyter Fest in that sick Texas Deathmatch after all. If he "snaps" then I can see him fucking murdering Scorpio Sky in short order.
While it's true that TK's booking of the TNT title has been just utterly baffling as of late, I can't help but think the momentum was first truly derailed because of the Codyverse, and that's coming from someone who agrees with Tranquilo Club that I was a big fan of Cody. Basically, the TNT championship became more and more difficult to build stories around when one of its storytelling mainstays in Cody started getting unexpected crowd reactions and then just up and left. Sammy and Scorpio are both great workers, but they haven't been particularly great as storytellers in the way Cody and Miro were. TK basically lost his storytelling crutch for the TNT title and needs to get it together himself.
That is a legit criticism. I get annoyed when people say Sky isn't good enough to be champ; but in comparison to the storytelling and promo work from Cody and Miro him and Sammy don't even come close. And that is a shame.
@@alwaysxnever Thing is, I really liked the idea of Sky being champ. Him getting the babyface pop of a lifetime from taking back the TNT title from Sammy was great and I believed that it would correct the course of the storyline finally. But him ending up re-turning heel sort of just told me that Sky isn't taking the same kind of storytelling initiative that Cody and Miro were able to in the past, and that this is what happens when TK doesn't have a super-creative wrestler giving him direct input on what they want to do with their title run.
@@Boyetto-san I kinda feel like you're implying that Cody being a good storyteller is what drove the TNT championship to be good. And there's likely some truth to that. Though, based on how Cody and Brandi left things, I really don't think even with Cody and Brandi still there, this situation would've been all that much better. And now that they're gone, they ended up leaving this messy situation in TK's lap to fix it. I think the bigger problem HERE is that, like Tranquilo said, Sammy and Tay were kind of slotted into Cody and Brandi's roles. And, at least from my view, that caused a chain reaction of storyline tweaks week on week that all dominoed into oblivion, with a TON of spots where it could have leveled out...but still haven't. If TK's smart, and I think most of us can agree he is...smart people make mistakes, this is given...just have Scorpio hold an open challenge at Double or Nothing, make it a five or six person match with a mystery entrant just for fun...whoever wins it there carries it for months and gets that sorted. Meanwhile, COMMIT to where ATT and Sammy and all associated parties stand in terms of being faces or heels. If they want to continue that feud with promos, fine whatever, but at least the TITLE situation will be in order. I do agree this sucks, they just need to nail down a PLAN. The booking week to week feels random and reactionary and without any direction.
@@RedShadowOfSaturn Cody I think was both a blessing and later a curse to the TNT title. He's proven before how good of a storyteller he is, and that made it easy for TK to manage the TNT title storylines. The same went for a very creative guy like Miro. But when Cody did indeed start losing fan support, I think that's where the Codyverse ended up derailing the TNT title. And it hasn't recovered since because TK now has to take charge of the storytelling on his own. I can only hope that he can find his bearings on this soon enough. One other theory of mine is that Scorpio may have turned back heel, but that he'll still defend the title regularly, even if with cheating, so that he can brag ironically that he's "restoring" the prestige of the title. That can at least bring some stability back to the title, so that someone who I hope isn't Sammy can later come in to take the championship with some momentum.
The nail in the coffin for me will be if Sammy ends up winning the TNT title for a 4th time. Either give Scorpio Sky a meaningful run with the belt or give it to somebody who will help restore the belt's reputation. Personally I'd choose Keith Lee, Ricky Starks or Andrade El Idolo.
Finally, I made my TC video debut as a background character lol. 8:05 You look on top of Dan’s head and part of the TNT title (left), There I am with my Punk t-shirt. Best night ever 🙌
Nice feed back on your video. Great edits. Always enjoy your work; The tnt title did lose its prestige a bit. But I enjoyed the back and forth with Scorpio sky and Sammy. Those two in the ring are fuego! Great chemistry. I believe the issue is a leverage pull for tv money deal. These wrestlers need to get paid and Tony shouldn’t be the only one dishing out his money. That’s what the tv deals are for
I agree that it is a booking failure, but I think the wrestlers themselves play a large part in the downfall of the title as well. Because to be a good champion, you need to have "it", that elusive thing in wrestling that everybody talks about but can seemingly only be defined by it's presence or absence. Take Miro, for example. If he can turn you around with his performance, even though you were initially unhappy with AEW putting the title on him, he clearly somehow has "it". And by performance I mean promo work to a huge extend, because everybody in the TNT title picture is at minimum an enjoyable in-ring performer. Sammy on the other hand... I think he is a bad champ. Because to he seems to have "it" when he is chasing the belt, but immediately loses it when he wins the gold. I liked him fighting for the belt and was immediately bored once he got it. That Tay story just heightened my dislike. And Scorpio? Man, I am sorry. He seems like a perfectly cool dude but the only good thing about his reign is Dan Lambert. Whatever "it" is, Scorpio doesn't have any. I mean compare him to his tag partner Ethan Page: Page is at least as skilled in the ring but 100 times more charismatic and a better heel on the mic. Why they didn't put the belt on him is beyond me. I guess it just was Scorpio's time to win gold once, too. And I am happy for the guy, truly, but man... no spark whatsoever.
100%. Ethan should be the one being the champion, not Sky. Sky is the most generic boring ass wrestlers you can find. He just doesn't have it. He got 0 championship presence. He's just another guy who is there to do his job and raise other people up over him. Ethan would've been a legendary TNT champion because he's actually pretty great on the ring, got mic skills so good he wouldn't even need Lambert with him, great control of the crowd to make him boo or cheer him. Ethan is just so damn good
Much like your Nightmare Collective video, this was real helpful as catchup for me, since I've only been watching since September. Yeah, I'm a huge fun, but I can agree, this really does suck. The only "nice" thing I can say about it, unfortunately, is at least it's being confined to mostly ONE angle, ONE storytline, ONE batch of wrestlers, and not bleeding into five or six other narrative threads. Other than that, yeah, it sucks...and it doesn't just suck because of one thing, it's MANY different things: -Sammy and Tay's presumed heel turn which has been jerky and start/stop and...frankly, I don't even feel like they committed to it outside of them kissing and cheating to win the title once. -Scorpio Sky teasing a face turn that didn't happen. -Dan Lambert almost teasing a face turn that didn't happen. -The hot potatoing of the title that was meaningless when, if they just committed to ONE person carrying the title, THAT person could "bring prestige back to it," but they handed it back and forth. -The INTERIM TITLE! Completely bloody pointless! And Sammy carrying both was STUPID AF!! When I think about it, the only other "positive" I see...and it's really more of a negative than a positive...the current TNT title situation really highlights just how important the other titles feel. Hangman has been AEW Champ since November with GREAT defenses on record. Jade Cargill, TBS champ for 4 months, still undefeated...still green, but showing massive improvement. Jurassic Express, tag champs for 4 months with great defenses as well. The TNT Title is the only one currently stinking up the joint. HOPEFULLY they level it out soon, have either Miro come back to do so, or someone brand new. Either way...I don't think it's suffered irreparable damage. But it does REALLY suck right this minute.
Completely agree. They need to shake up the TNT title picture MAJORLY. Throw a bunch of up and coming new pillars into the mix and build some stars (Swerve, Keith Lee, Johnny Elite, etc!!)
The easiest way to eh hm...Redeem the TNT Title in mind would be for Miro to come back, plow through Sammy and Scorpio (take them off TV for awhile, or at least as far away as possible from the title), and have Miro run with the championship again.
Miro and Darby were legit fighting champs. *As for Sammy he doesn't have 'go away heat' he's got CHANGE THE CHANNEL heat* I would have put the title on Malakai Black and kept up his unbeaten streak and made the strap feel important again.
I miss one Rampage and Scorpio’s a heel again. *sigh* Anywho, the TNT title problems are indicative of the larger AEW issues. There’s more heat and roster interest in the TNT title than the world title, with RoH part of AEW for the time being it feels like just about anyone can get a belt otherwise, and the show has been horrifically booked for the last few weeks. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t been entertaining, it just means the performers have been outperforming the booking instead of being enhanced by it. Booking philosophy has to change for this to get better. JR is right there. Regal is now too. Delirious can help. See if Jay Lethal has any less discussed ideas. Put a cone of silence around The Elite for two months and please try something different. AEW has a cannon in a shirts vs. skins streetfight and keeps taking potshots at the moon. I still really enjoy AEW but the cracks exist and are worrying.
Sadly I agree with you... AEW occasionally gets hold of lightning in a bottle (to this day - Yuta's push is a good example) but other stuff is just confusing or seems really ill thought through.
@@isabellamorris7902 I’m not sold on Yuta as a force outside the BCC, but that’s a great example of building on something that showed promise (the very first Yuta / Mox match) into getting Yuta over with this crew of world champions. The rest of the show just varies from yikes to yay to yuck and it’s tiring to watch even when it’s enjoyable. I’m holding onto hope that Double or Nothing sets the stage for a soft reset and next week we’ll have a strong look at what the future will be.
For me, the TNT title was suppose to have been the workhorse title the same way the IC title was once considered in WWE. Whomever is producing for the TNT title segment needs to find ways to build one guy, and create a lineage. I was cool with Cody as TNT champion, and I was cool when Miro was champion. But post-Miro, it's been too inconsistent. I think MJF should be the new TNT champion, especially if there is no plans for him to go up against either Punk or Hangman in the foreseeable future.
It’s insane how they had it right in their fingertips with the double turn. How do you not just go forward with keeping sky face and splitting up men of the year
The TNT championship was great when it was just a bare-bones pure wrestling championship, and that was all it needed. It doesn't NEED big storylines surrounding it to be great. Once it got involved in big storylines, that's when it went downhill. Not to mention that Scorpio Sky hasn't even been on Dynamite since he won it *checks notes* THREE WEEKS AGO. When you posted this video I even forgot who the current champion was, and I watch AEW every week
The TNT Title currently faces a similar issue to me as the UWU title in WWE. The group of challengers is so limited, that it feels like no one actually wants to challenge for it The AEW world title has this ranking system that limits who can challenge for the title which makes it fine when not everyone is constantly trying to get a match, but these other titles don't.
For me, I was excited when Scorpio won the belt cause I thought he was a fun heel from what little I'd seen of him so this meant he was naturally going to be seen more. But he got booked in a squash match against Wardlow for his first match, this messy feud and back & forth with Sammy, and then that fake out face turn. It's really turned me off from Scorpio's character and for now the TNT belt. I think they need to give Scorpio a few good matches then chuck it off to one of the top stars. Not a pillar or future star, someone who is already established and over with the crowd. Give it some prestige along with its reset.
I first started watching AEW last summer and for like the first week, I legit thought the TNT title was the main title (dont think Kenny was featured that much during that week) and that is purely because of how Tony Khan booked it and how Miro elevated it. Now after the recent episode of Rampage, we're getting Sammy vs Sky for like the 4th or 5th time. Tony Khan needs to have Sky go over so they can abandon this feud and let Sky carry it for a few months. Then they should put it on Konosuke Takeshita and let him bring back the weekly open challenge on Rampage, because that shows current low ratings would benefit from a mid card fighting baby face champion that's super over in every TV appearance he's had.
Give it to young guys like Dante, Lee moiarty, Garcia, and guys like that and make it a workrate tv belt. It might not feel as big as when it was like a second world title but in the long run it would be great and allow the young talent to grow and shine before they have to become the world champs in a few years
I agree with you for the most part. The one place where I will disagree is that I liked the idea of the interim title. Sure Cody was only gone two weeks, but in those two weeks he missed Battle of the Belts where every title was to be defended. Also, it set a precedent saying that championships in AEW will not be vacated due to injury. That anytime a title is set to be defended, if the champion is unable to compete, an interim champion will be crowned. That makes AEW feel more like a real sport than WWE ever has.
The tnt title has not been defended on a ppv since September 5th 2021 for All out, almost 10 months ago!! We potentially may have to wait until a full year to see a ppv defense if it’s not defended at forbidden door
Constructive criticism and not baseless like a lot of AEW criticism going around lately. Agree 90% I don't think the TNT title is worthless, TBS title yes, TNT Title can be built back up all they gotta do is put it on Bryan or a comparible workhorse like Ketih Lee or Swerve.
Honestly, It's not just the TNT title that's been booked like trash, the women's title hasn't been booked correctly either bc both Rosa & the women don't get enough screentime. Compare the screentime she's had since winning the title to Hangman & the difference is astounding: Hangman has had more screentime in the start of his reign while Rosa has had less than 7 minutes of screentime! That's insane! These are the only titles in AEW that haven't been up to par in terms of booking. The rest of the titles like the TBS title, the World title & the tag titles, which I think they're fine btw, have been booked better than the other 2 belts. I was hopeful for Sky's second run as a babyface cause i think he's better in that role than a heel & also thought they course-corrected by having him a second time to a standing ovation. But now I'm just waiting for the title to be redeemed bc of the unnecesary swerve we got at Rampage. I love TK, but he needs to book both the TNT & the women's title better, especially the TNT title bc it desperately needs saving
I think Scorpio's second reign will get things back on track. Sammy's reigns were definitely disappointing but Scorpio I think will get the title back on track where it needs to be The Sammy/Scorpio feud needs to end.
You know what: just have Miro return, beat everyone up, and reclaim the TNT title, "Redeeming" the whole thing and let everyone go their separate ways so we don't have to deal with this storyline that JUST. WONT. DIE!
yeah . i used to love the TNT title more than the world title just because of how the title was mythologized it because of its holders and the story it told.
I think the reason they made an interim title was because Cody wasn't signed to a contract at that point so they wanted to ensure they did have a TNT Champion in case he made the switch to WWE.
Tony khan is like a kid in a candy shop at times. His got so much talent and so many great storylines and directions to go in but some of his booking is horrible.
It made me sad to see Guevara destroying the belt while wearing the "Brodie Forever" jacket. Then Kazarian joining in for some reason?! That plus all of the confusion, plus the "we had sex wearing the belt" stuff, is really discrediting the whole championship imo. One or two alone would be fine but all of it together is just no. Also Dan Lambert and ATT have HUGE go away heat for me so as long as Sky is still aligned with them, I don't want him to win it either. Plus I loved Conti as a fiery face but now she's basically just Sammy Guevara's accessory which makes me grumpy. Bring back TayJay.
I actually really loved Sammy's run with the title up until the Scorpio feud and the hot potatoing of the belt, Scorpio is fine but i don't think his character, as booked as he had been up until that point, was a credible champion. Just hope they put that belt on someone that can elevate it again like maybe Starks or Swerve, or even Darby again
They should turned Sky face. Then build to Page & Paige vs Sammy & Tay whilst Sky brings prestige back to the title and defends it often (his whole storyline will be prestige & honour). In a couple of months have a tournament to decide number 1 contender. Have Page win it then do a massive programme with Sky. Have Page go over, and have All Ego as the new champ.
It changed when cody left. Now I feel like they want sammy to surpass codys title reigns which im fine with. Then we will have a good long reign for Sammy.
The TNT title problem seems to be a symptom of a bigger problem, because thinking about it, you have Sammy vs ATT as well as HoB vs Varsity-Triangle, andthe problem with Hangman, and (before losing to Rosa) the Women's championship, as well as the tag championnships.
This is one of the few times where I am just not feeling the job of TK. After the great win of Sammy over Miro the booking of the TNT title hasn't been good. Jade isn't as polished as a wrestler but the booking of that belt seems less messy for sure.
He needs to have somebody saying, Tony that's stupid, hell he has what, Malenko, Regal and to a lesser extent Joe, and Punk, along with Dustin. Could have a dream booking team.
open challenge gave us Kingston, Starks. We need more not so big names made into stars from this challenge. Something needs done, it is currently horrible. It went from Undeniable, to god damn unreliable
I feel like what really devalues the title is that only a few people chase the tittle and it’s like the wrestler don’t care about being champion same few people
Thank yo u for this video, ever since I been watching AEW (I think since Danhausen appeared which sparked my interest) I have been confused as hell with what and why the TNT Championship for both women and males, I thought it was equivalent to the intercontinental on WWE, but now it just seems so random on who or what stipulations come from challenging for the belt, I never knew it was a open challenge type belt, that makes it super interesting, but now it's too random and kind of stale (Especially on the Women's side and I like Jade Cargill's antics) I was also a huge fan of Sammy when he was just around Jericho gang, but then he kept talking 😅, and now it's just like "meh" with Sammy. I'm really interested in Scorpio take on the belt, but it honestly overstaying it's welcome...Now that I know it's a "Free for all" belt that could be some really good stories and matches, they just need to write it fleshed out and stop just throwing Sammy out on everything and stop wasting so many amazing talent
The crowd turning on Sammy was inevitable anyway. First off, the only reason he became babyface in the first place was his little feud within a feud with MJF during that arc, which was great stuff, but once that feud was over and Sammy had to stand on his own as champion without Inner Circle, his babyface promos just weren't strong enough to keep him over as a babyface. And realistically Sammy was already sort of adrift after the MJF feud anyway, he had basically nothing going on when they gave him the TNT title, and I feel like they hoped that would give his character direction with no further thought behind it. He also never really had a serious feud as TNT champ after Cody and just didn't face any serious challengers, despite having such a strong pool of them to choose from at the time. The problem of course being that guys like Pac, Malakai Black, Orange Cassidy, etc. were way better established, way more effective on the mic, and all had no business losing to someone on the level of Sammy. Hell, him beating Miro is a huge stretch. But I think the thing that really killed any hope of his babyface run lasting was when he was at his hottest during his babyface run, he proposed to his girlfriend at the time in front of the hometown crowd for a great little wholesome moment. Then like, what? A month later suddenly he has a new girlfriend? Thats a real life heel move, and everyone saw it that way, especially with how obnoxious he was about it. Combine all of that with him just being such having such a natural heel look and mannerisms, and it was never gonna last. He was just not ready for a big babyface run yet.
i really agree with what you're saying here, I'm a big fan of Sammy and Tay, as well as Sky and Page, I think Dan is often a bit too much but whatever he can have appeal with other parts of the audience. but it really has been a let down,
I’ll tell you the real problem with the TNT title, FUCKING ETHAN PAGE AND PAIGE VANZANT HOLDING SCORPIO BACK! This is why Sammy and Tay needs to win the mixed tag match at AEW: Double or Nothing. So that it causes Ethan to turn on Scorpio and breaks up the Men of the year. That’s gonna probably be my last action in case I lose the UWC elections next Sunday as long as Maria, Matt, Mark, Jade, Tazz, Austin, and MJF doesn’t win the UWC elections for who will be the Chair of the UWC for the next 12 months. BY ORDER OF THE UNITED WRESTLING CONSORTIUM!
They should’ve just kept it on Sammy and tried to make something with him and Tay being heel together. I know they’re not the most popular amongst fans but it would’ve made more sense than putting it back on Scorp to just do nothing with it
It's a simple problem to solve: The TV belts are supposed to be the workhorse belts that get defended more frequently with open challenges compared to the world titles. But they're sports entertaining with the TNT belt right now instead of just letting whoever's champ defend the belt in great matches. This brings up a flaw in how Khan books things in that when he books a champion in an angle, the angle tends to overwhelm the title and the title doesn't get seriously defended until the angle finishes. It's why Darby's reign got off to a slow start: He and Sting were stuck in a tag-team feud with Ethan and Scorpio and the belt was basically put aside until that was done. Khan should probably just keep things simple and concentrate on having champions defend against worthy challengers instead feeling pressured to get them into angles that are best reserved for midcarders that need something to occupy themselves until they're ready to challenge.
The biggest problem the TNT title has is that post-miro the belt hasn't really been the focus of the champion. It either doesn't have a story or the champion is involved in something else that doesn't really focus on the belt. The belt changing hands often isn't bad, if the people around the belt are focused on it. I think Skye COULD be a great TNT champion, but this want feud needs to end and he has to go workhorse champ, doesn't matter if he is face or heel. Really what the belt needs to be redeemed, is the redeemer. Let Miro be a reset button on the title and put him on a monster run. It doesn't need to be long time-wise very l but it needs a good consistent string of defenses.
The TNT title can still be good, TK just needs to book Sky to be a long reign champion defending the belt week in and week out till Full Gear, before dropping the belt to say Jungle Boy, or Darby.
I like this cause not every champ needs a long title run Also if a champ loses in his 1st defense then it adds a bit of realism cause anybody can lose on any day, any defense or in just one min I would also like to add that this Sammy/Scorpio feud is great cause it’s given this company what it’s never had and that’s actually wrestlers who care and fight for this title over and over Most champs lose their title and forget about it so how important was it to you if that’s all it took Idk about y’all but if I’m champ or wanna be the champ then I’m fighting and fighting for it What made Stone Cold’s title runs amazing was that he was constantly fighting to get it back It was the chase that put the importance on the title not his reign
My hot TNT title take is that Wardlow should've beaten Sky for the belt immediately after Sky won it. It would've played into the MJF feud perfectly because Max could've stolen the belt from Wardlow and claimed it as his own since, as per Wardlow's contract, any belt he won belonged to Max. And then you do Wardlow/MJF for the belt at DoN. The TNT belt would've been involved in a great storyline instead of whatever's going on now.
I ALMOST thought they were gonna pull this thing out of the gutter with the Scorpio babyface turn, have him turn against Lambert, feud with Ethan Page, and all would make sense in the world again, but then they do the pointless heel turn again, have the gaul to try to treat Sammy babyface again, and now I just want literally any other outcome than either of these guys winning the title if they have another match. I am talking ring gets swallowed by an eldritch portal mid match and Cthulhu becomes TNT champ. ANYTHING but either of those two. As far as I am concerned, Ricky Starks is the 4th pillar now.
I honestly don’t think it’s the fault of Sammy, Tay, Scorpio, any of them. The thing that AEW has done well with the TNT belt is using it to power a conveyor belt of dream matches. The feuds themselves have been meaningless, it’s always been about the matches for that belt, and always giving us something new to look forward to. There’s been some bad feuds for the TNT title but because they’ve been short and more often than not ended in good matches, it’s forgotten about because something new comes along. This never ending Sammy and Scorpio feud where both have flip flopped on whether they’re faces or heels, who’s the champion, it’s just confusing, boring, and bad. The best thing they can do with the belt right now is have one last blowoff match, and then move onto something new. Give Scorpio some new challengers, and move Sammy onto a feud with a super over baby face like a Keith Lee to confirm him and Tay as heels, or even re-join Jericho, plenty of good matches to be had in their feud with Kingston and BCC.
I think with them giving sky his own version of the TNT he will have it for for a bit now and it will be held for some. I think making them 2-time and 4-time tnt Champs gives them that alkaloid but it needs to stay with 1 guy for a good while now
Ok so I'm gonna make some quick points here... I would have no issue with the belt hot potatoe back and forth if....IF...it were being done by 2 very good wrestlers in a feud where they are trading wins, with each match getting better or equal. Because it would be like watching the 2 best teams in the NBA finals trading wins until game 7. Like say Miro/Samoa Joe, Darby/Ricky Starks, etc. Which leads me to my second point.... The problem is this feud featured 1 guy who the fans just aren't buying as the TNT champion in Scorpio Sky. Look he is a really good wrestler. And I've been following this guy for a long time and kept wondering why he never got a chance in WWE, Impact, ROH? Eventually he got a chance in ROH and I'm happy for him. And the other guy, Sammy Guevara was riding way high when he won the belt. But I think what killed him early was how his matches were booked. He was always playing the injury angle. So instead if having him just go out and have banger after banger his matches followed the story of the injured underdog. To me Sammy can't play that role at this point in his career. He's at his best when he goes all out. And then AEW made the worst possible decision they could and paired he and Tay Conti onscreen together. They are approaching go away heat. So all the goodwill and love fans had for both has basically been squandered. To me Conti was even more beloved than Sammy. We saw how after she got fired by WWE she came to AEW and put the work in to better herself. If you see Dark/Elevation you see her always smiling and just loving to get to wrestle how she wants. But what got her over the top love was her relationship with Brodi Lee's son. Its not forced. It's not done for brownie points. So again you have a guy no one is really buying as TNT championship material and guy who is getting dangerously close to go away heat. Ok so this is a side question. But I'm wondering if Scorpio Sky is Tony Khan's Roman Reigns? Now before the Roman fans complain that I'm comparing him to the almighty chief. No what I mean is for years Vince tried to get Reigns over. Tony Khan obviously thinks very highly if Sky. Remember he's the first guy to pin Jericho in an AEW ring. He was one half of the first AEW tag team champions. And remember how he was inserted. They did an injury angle with Daniel's and Sky stepped in. Khan has given him Lambert as his manager yet nobody seems to take him seriously. He's kind of an afterthought. If he Page were feuding for the tag belts I think the fans would care because that's where they probably feel he fits in. And another thing, if it was Page getting the Sky push, I believe the fans would take him more seriously as TNT title worthy. He's hate able despite being so likeable on his vlogs. So finally in my opinion they need tohave Sky lose the belt to somebody outside of this never ending feud. Like a returning Miro. Sure he'd a great pop upon his return but he's good enough to get his heel heat back. Or maybe go with somebody like Takeshita. Long term he may not be around. But even if he holds the belt for one month and defends it every week it gives the belt some of its credibility back. Sammy Guevara is still a long term piece for the company going forward. I think he's just been somewhat badly booked and his pairing with Tay has hurt both. Sky at this point has been badly damaged. They tried but it's just not working.
I'm still hopeful for Scorpio's title run but they really dropped the ball by not turning him face and having Ethan Page go solo for a while, whether or not Scorpio and Kaz reunited, maybe even have Ethan have a title run down the line. but this isn't nearly as bad as Wardlow squashing the entire super heavyweight division. now THAT I am very interested to see how they'll redeem any of those guys outside of Dark squashes. even Lance freakin Archer... come on man
I was really excited for Scorpio as champ because I thought it would put an end to all the Sammy BS and provide a clean break from that, and then they proceeded to not do that and its really dragged down Scorpio's run IMO
Whats upsetting to me I thought the double turn was a sign AEW was correcting course. Seeing people support Scorpio wanting him as champ, and Sammy getting boo'ed anyway so why not turn him. With Scorpio as face champ you could've had Ethan Page feud for it wanting to proove he's the man of the year, Kazarian wanting to win his first singles championship in AEW, Sammy take back what he views is his, and Scorpio wanting to solidify himself as champ. And at the ppv have a 4 way. Now it's just a mess what the titles direction is.
Sammy is actually good but he was booked very poorly as champion also id like Adam Cole to win the TNT title, he would probably make it feel very important again
I also think the Tag Team and AEW Championship are less prestigious than before. On the other hand Jade is the best booked Champion maybe in AEW history.
I still have a little hope in Paige turning on Sky. Maybe, regardless of how Sky beat Kaz, he does intend to re-open the open challenge, maybe this is something Lambert and Paige disagree with so they look to take the title away from Sky. It's hard to say really, I think Sky should have a long title reign but there's also a window to take advantage of crowd reaction and turn him face which may involve him losing the title.
With all this hot shotting of the TNT title, it's only a matter of time until R Truth shows up to get his baby back! He'll say "my bad" afterwards, but you can't really blame him for being confused at that point, and then he'll be calling it the "T-M-N-T super shredder Leondaro european television championship!"
I think that if wrestler naturally turns heel or face, that should always become the story immediately. At least Cody kinda turned heel in peoples' minds, just turn him on screen and he will get cheered as a heel. Sammy turned heel and once he embraced it, he's pretty good on TV again. While he was trying to be face when he was hated, that was bad. Scorpio turned face by accident. Well guess that heel run is over and there's a face riding with two heel(ish) characters. Make Dan and Ethan less heelish and make Scorpio apparently embrace the face, he can turn immediately after losing the title and then that becomes a character trait. "He's a good person and fair fighter as long as he's on top. He's a bad loser and dirtbag when he doesn't get his way (way being title around his waist)". Sounds like a good wrestling character to me.
Sammy did a lot more title defense than what you mention. TNT title was supposed to be a work title that use open challenge and not to be saved for PPV. Sammy did a good match against most of his challenger. So your narrative that he did only fued with ATT are poor and misleading.
Tony Khan should announce Takeshita as a challenger for the TNT title and make it a three way match at DON, put the title on him and have Kenny Omega take it off him when he returns, in dominant fashion, once Kenny has the TNT championship, then he goes for the AEW Championship (hopefully held by CM Punk)
I get why title swaps change from time to time ( mostly due to injury), but things have got so confusing with the TNT belt and the feud with Sammy/Scorpio that I just don't care for it anymore.
Honestly all of AEW seems confusing to me novadays lol
Agreed thier fued has been under whelming
theres no real feud... its all about the intergender match but Paige is still training.
@@SkrebMasters yea I agree... just give it to takeshita and call it a day

That's how it was before. I'm disappointed that's not much of the case anymore.
It only just recently because of Sky being a heel doing stupid heel thing like couple of week.
Well they DID announce that trios titles are coming at least. The belts themselves have apparently already been created.
I fear they have too many people on the roster to block a time slot every week for the TNT title.
@@ArcaneAzmadi They said once Kenny Omega is 100%, The belt will be revealed and the tournament will begin.
This is the exact same kind of thing that makes WWE unwatchable.
With the crowd's natural reaction towards Sammy and Tay, everything was going in perfect direction until AEW decided not to keep Scorpio Sky face.

Just a hack theory, but maybe TK is trying to make both Sammy and Scorpio both look as dislikeable as possible so that a returning Miro can steamroll over them to a huge pop and "Redeem" the championship?
If I hear his theme song and see him smash the hell out of them, then the prestige of the AEW TNT Championship will be saved. 🙏
Yea that's what I been saying lmao. This could all so Miro can even more over than last time
I had the same thought, that's the only way out of this mess that I can see
Even if that's true- it's bad television, and bad booking for Sammy and Scorpio.
Aew doesn't do rematches
Except for Cody and Sammi
This and the House of Black stalling are two black marks on AEW right now. It’s strange cause everything else right now is pretty good. How they got lost in the shuffle is very unlike the company
Keep in mind, House of Black's momentum got stalled because Rey Fenix got injured right before Death Triangle and HoB were going to face off, so the whole angle has been stretched out.
@@JeremyBearimy913 That’s true. Just worried they’ll go the way of the Wyatt Family. Towards the end, all their promos meant nothing cause they weren’t doing anything
A third blemish on the company is the booking of Andrade. Way to book someone as talented as he into the dirt 😩
I'd say there are quite a few meh things going on in AEW.
I agree with your opinion on Miro, at the time I wasn't too interested in his reign but in hindsight he did elevate the title.
Codys run with the Open challenge, bringing wrestlers from the indy scene to show what they got was so great!
I believe Eddie Kingston should have been the man to beat Miro. He would have been perfect, plus the promo would have been insane
Totally agree! I hope Scorpio retains vs Sammy next time and continue with a lengthy reign or at least to have defended a good amount of times.
Hopefully they can get back to being good with the TNT title.
Miro is the only man that makes the TNT champion feels like the World champion , True wrestler , I hope that one day Miro becomes AEW World champion.
Finally, I made my TC video debut as a background character lol. 8:05 You look on top of Dan’s head and part of the TNT title (left), There I am with my Punk t-shirt. Best night ever 🙌
Nice feed back on your video. Great edits. Always enjoy your work;
The tnt title did lose its prestige a bit. But I enjoyed the back and forth with Scorpio sky and Sammy. Those two in the ring are fuego! Great chemistry. I believe the issue is a leverage pull for tv money deal. These wrestlers need to get paid and Tony shouldn’t be the only one dishing out his money. That’s what the tv deals are for
Cody made the TNT title feel important
Ethan is just so damn good
Excelente vídeo. Fully agree. Miss Miro. It is the last time it felt important
Other than that, yeah, it sucks...and it doesn't just suck because of one thing, it's MANY different things:
-Sammy and Tay's presumed heel turn which has been jerky and start/stop and...frankly, I don't even feel like they committed to it outside of them kissing and cheating to win the title once.
The beginning of AEW was something special. Remeber when Dark was having absolutely great matches. Remeber the Moxley vs Kenny on the first episode?
The easiest way to eh hm...Redeem the TNT Title in mind would be for Miro to come back, plow through Sammy and Scorpio (take them off TV for awhile, or at least as far away as possible from the title), and have Miro run with the championship again.
Miro and Darby were legit fighting champs.
*As for Sammy he doesn't have 'go away heat' he's got CHANGE THE CHANNEL heat*
I would have put the title on Malakai Black and kept up his unbeaten streak and made the strap feel important again.
I miss one Rampage and Scorpio’s a heel again. *sigh*
Anywho, the TNT title problems are indicative of the larger AEW issues.

Let’s not forget the best TNT title match, dogcollar and ladder match aside. The triple threat where Sammy defended against Andrade and Darby.
Damn. I can't believe I forgot that. That was a fantastic match. The fact that Andrade hasn't held the strap is disappointing.
How do you not just go forward with keeping sky face and splitting up men of the year
That belt was dope all the way up to this swap back n forth, n heel turning by Sammy n Scorpio
Miro was the best TNT champ. He made the belt mean something special. Hopefully he comes back and "redeems" the belt
The group of challengers is so limited, that it feels like no one actually wants to challenge for it
The AEW world title has this ranking system that limits who can challenge for the title which makes it fine when not everyone is constantly trying to get a match, but these other titles don't.
If tk doesn't keep Sammy away from the tnt title then we know he isn't listening.
Agree 90%
I don't think the TNT title is worthless, TBS title yes, TNT Title can be built back up all they gotta do is put it on Bryan or a comparible workhorse like Ketih Lee or Swerve.
Would love to see av ideo from you explaining what changed your ire on miro in hindsight
Can the ship be righted? We shall see. AEW is indeed far from perfect folks. The issue has indeed been TK's booking.
I’ve become a fan of your channel. Well done with this video.
i really agree with what you're saying here, I'm a big fan of Sammy and Tay, as well as Sky and Page, I think Dan is often a bit too much but whatever he can have appeal with other parts of the audience. but it really has been a let down,
I’ll tell you the real problem with the TNT title, FUCKING ETHAN PAGE AND PAIGE VANZANT HOLDING SCORPIO BACK!
I really like Sky as champion but I guess as Twitter has another opinion everyone has
Yeah i love AEW, never missed an episode, but they're messing up right now with this storyline. Especially with the swerve they did on Rampage
The TNT title can still be good, TK just needs to book Sky to be a long reign champion defending the belt week in and week out till Full Gear, before dropping the belt to say Jungle Boy, or Darby.
I wish we got a Tweener Sky to do just that. But I would even want him to drop it to someone new to help build someone else up.
I’d really like to see a hardcore title it can be a belt that can be pasted around better and give people more tv time
I like this cause not every champ needs a long title run
Also if a champ loses in his 1st defense then it adds a bit of realism cause anybody can lose on any day, any defense or in just one min
I would also like to add that this Sammy/Scorpio feud is great cause it’s given this company what it’s never had and that’s actually wrestlers who care and fight for this title over and over
Most champs lose their title and forget about it so how important was it to you if that’s all it took
Idk about y’all but if I’m champ or wanna be the champ then I’m fighting and fighting for it
What made Stone Cold’s title runs amazing was that he was constantly fighting to get it back
It was the chase that put the importance on the title not his reign
Ima need Miro to GAME.....OVAAAAAH these guys for that belt back
My hot TNT title take is that Wardlow should've beaten Sky for the belt immediately after Sky won it.
Etan page should be main eventing so underused mic skills
Omg i was saying THE SAME DAMN THING IMA TALKING ABOUT YOU GOT HALL FAME ROSTER AND NOT EVEN USING THEM LIKE WTF!!!🤦🏾💯🤦🏾💯
In a promotion with so many stars that could go after this belt. It really feels like this belt is only a sammy thing.
They should turn the TNT title into a 24/7 type of title at this point. That'd be more entertaining than how it's booked rn. imo ;P
I wanted it to be like the ic/television title
Showing off up and comers and people who work hard. Now no idea what they're doing
When Miro comes back, trust that prestige for the TNT TITLE WILL RETURN… 🤞
Sammy is actually good but he was booked very poorly as champion
also id like Adam Cole to win the TNT title, he would probably make it feel very important again
Watching this video just made me realize how much I really miss Miro. My God, where is the Redeemer??
I also think the Tag Team and AEW Championship are less prestigious than before.
On the other hand Jade is the best booked Champion maybe in AEW history.
I still have a little hope in Paige turning on Sky. Maybe, regardless of how Sky beat Kaz, he does intend to re-open the open challenge, maybe this is something Lambert and Paige disagree with so they look to take the title away from Sky.
It's hard to say really, I think Sky should have a long title reign but there's also a window to take advantage of crowd reaction and turn him face which may involve him losing the title.
Miro needs to come back and bring respect back to this title. I miss Miro 😔
The TNT title needs to be interesting again
