The orca is stunning. I love that colour. Both sounded very good and quite different. The orca was I guess more focused. The Les Paul had more balls. I preferred the sound of the Les Paul.
    Excellent composition and playing.

How much did he charge you to demo it on your YT channel? Why did he send you a guitar to check out? LP sounded better on the overdriven track at the end. Orca sounded more restrained and darker (imo). Sounded fine on that blues stuff at the front but again, your goal was to compare the two guitars. I don't see the Orca being worth $5000 more than a LP.

Looks and sounds great! Funny how gibson lovers want only gibson to make the best lp… a design that dates, guitar most always out of tune and crazy expensive… keep at it! Great job with that orca

    Hey Joey,
both guitars sound fantastic to my ears😍👍🏼
As you say, you only hear nuances.
My Tokai Reborn Old, LS2-F Customshop, 50's wiring, Luxe capacitors, VIP pots and 8Bomb Custom "Goldie" humbucker sounds just as awesome😎

Nice one and nice playing.......Hey, everybody talks about Gibsons but why nobody complains about PRSs prices....uh?

They both sound great, but as an owner of both Huber and Gibsons, I can tell you the Huber will wipe the floor with the Gibson on build quality and playability. I’d also throw in a shout for the Patrick James Eggle Macon in this category, it’s cheaper than the Orca but IMO, even better.
Im currently selling my Gibson to part fund a new Eggle, I guess that says it all!

How can they have the same spec's when the scale length of the Huber is different?

beeing biased towards german luthiers (owned thorndals and currently a maybach lester 58 made in czech check that out!) i come to the same conclusion as in a colleagues of yours shoot out of porntop prs and orcas vs cs gibbys: les paul wins. grittier around the edges, more pronounced when riffing (killer riffs btw.). orca is tamer, seems more articulate. i see why youd prefer it for playing high up, orca opens up more. sweeter. Sad you left the best half out: Neck pickup. please do another vid with a cleaner tone and neck pups while you have it. if you have it. sry late to the party but newsub here!

The Huber sounded more focused and tighter to me in the mix than the LP, It felt like it sat in the groove better; not that the LP wasn't good, it was that the Huber "snuggled" in. Your playing is excellent by the way!

Really dig the playing. Both guitars sound great. More detail and tightness out of the huber, Les Paul sounds hotter and bigger.

LOVE that gold burst color! On my monitors the LP sounded a bit brighter, the Orca sat in the mix a bit more. But if you didn't tell me they were different guitars I probably wouldn't have guessed.

This is how every Gibson vs. PRS shootout goes. The Orca sounds more hi-fi, refined polished. The Gibson has more balls, it’s nastier, meaner, rougher around the edges in tone. Just heavier, and IMO, better. In a perfect world, you have both for different applications. But I don’t think the Orca is a direct replacement for a custom shop LP unless you just don’t like what the LP does.

    • @johnbach2380
      @johnbach2380 14 дней назад

My r9 had no balls. It wasn't mean. It was actually very tame and clear.
Add that they are unpotted... for heavier music they're kinda useless. 😂

What the hell am I doing here? I'm a single coil player ))) Although I must say that this Orca looks amazing and might be the first time ever I'm thinking of maybe getting a Les Paul style guitar. Gibson sounds more traditional to my ear and Orca's sound I would describe as more modern. As these are both great sounding guitars, I would pick the one that looks better and have better ergonomics and in my view it's the Orca. Very tasteful playing by the way, I will probably have to come back for more.

Both guitars sound amazing, the LP edges over the Orca in my opinion because of the growl that the Gibson has.

  • @khek6507

Not much of a difference. In the end it’s about how you feel when you play it. In a song it does not matter at all which guitar you play.

The Oracle has an amazing look sounds clean the Gibson has a not so favorite top or the look I like, but it sounds like it has more punch or it just sounds like a Gibson lol

From my experience the ESP LTD EC 1000 is easily the best playing and sounding 'Les Paul' guitar. If you haven't tried on, give it a shot, you may be as surprised as I was.

I had an Ec1000 years ago, nice guitar.
Might buy another one, the CTM models are great.
But the R8 and Nik Huber Orca, are $5-10,000 guitars. You can't compare the two, really.

Sounds great but it would sound better with block inlays.
Edit: The Huber had nicer lows imo. I mean you can EQ it but I liked how the Huber had less high mids on the low notes and sounded full.
    High notes sounded very similar.

  • @horrorview

The cheapest Orca I could find was $4800 used (in a blah black finish). THAT finish was north of $7K. Not sure it's worth a 2-4K dollar premium over a Les Paul Standard. I also found the LP brighter and more defined.

But to the most important part.. your playing is absolutely sublime, man. Do you have a spotify or bandcamp account? I really hope you have a few albums out.. or even singles..
Take care and all the best, Joey!
