Fender's marketing department has been killing it the last few years. Not just some awesome looking guitars that sound and play really great, they also support young artists and inspire a lot of musicians with their unmistakable style. Really glad things like this exist
I have a white mustang with the jag vibrato and i dig it but I think I like the original mustang better. Because you didn't need the bar, you could use the side of your palm to move the bridge
As a contemporary of Bilinda's, I'm fascinated by how subsequent generations interpret the music of our era. I'm also frankly stunned to see musicians in our genre being featured by Fender, the biggest company in music. That never would have happened, back in the day, when guitarists in our genre were largely derided in our own time for lack of technical proficiency. 30 years later, elaborate pedalboards are de rigeur. Those of us who saw MBV live almost 30 years ago haven't forgotten the unreal impact of Bilinda and Kevin's guitars.
Indie rock's emergence as the last trend (even if it's not anymore in the mainstream nowadays) means that a company like Fender can now endorse more niche musicians who actually do interesting things instead of the new boring shredder in town. It's a major improvement
Lorenzo Desidera I've never owned a Fender guitar. Fender bass, yes, but for guitar, I've played a Rickenbacker 330 since I bought it new in 1990. My next guitar will definitely be of Fender lineage, though. Jaguar pickups, for sure.
@@gcvrsa a buddy of mine scored 66 jag for a stupid low price. I'd never played one till he showed it to me. It wasn't what I expected but really cool! I think because it's a Gibson scale length that makes it feel different. Also the trem is super smooth and usable not the range of a strat but more of a vibrato and it held tune really well even when abusing it. A sweet guitar indeed. I also had no idea they were so expensive and sought after on the "vintage market" 🤮. I hate that old guitars have become unobtainable for the people who really need them
@2bin - I had never heard of her or her band before this passed week either! Not sure yet what to think of her vocal abilities, but her guitar work is nice and with a great sound, too: ruclips.net/video/_Puc-MzaPtk/видео.html :-)

Jesus Loves You my favorite guitar. had a jazzmaster and loved it, was always my dream guitar. about a year later, met a guy jamming downtown that had a mustang and i had never even heard of it before... instantly fell in love. truly my favorite guitar of all time, couldn’t name a single thing wrong about that guitar.
I play a 1966 Mustang I found in a pawn shop years ago. It is my favorite guitar ever. I have a Jazzmaster, Jag and a few others but the Mustang is it. It’s perfect.
With the 90's Alternative and Shoegaze scene and every Indie and dream pop band now having Jazzmasters and Mustangs/Duo Sonics I think it's hard to call em Underrated now. They're defiantly still the "Other choice" to Strats and Tele's though for sure.
I saw them in 1991 (or 92 I forget) with jesus and mary Chain and dinosaur Jr and Blur. Called the Rollercoaster tour in London Brixton Acadamey, beat that :D :D I'm old.

anyway .... i think it's great that Kevin inspired such a radical tool in today's polished world. just as well; i am know someone will dig into my guitar circuit, to see what makes it tick, after i am dead....i can't afford a tube amp, so the FSB's utility is the main draw for me. a dash of always on sag to emulate, and the one stop solo-Q-boost + analog rectifier octave...at first i was worried because the up oct was just a button ... but Fender did it perfect. i can tell it's going to work for me.
There hasn't been much of any info at all for months. In fact, there is so little information that people got excited when the MBV website's domain was about to expire and when Mbv Records Ltd credit score showed up online and when there are credit movements.
anything can be good for shoegaze-y stuff as it's the guitar is going through so many effect pedals, I think a mustang (or a jaguar/jazzmaster) would be a great pick as you've got some pretty unique pickup options! Mustang + pedals + weird tuning and you're good to gaze
As a Jag and Jazzmaster player, pretty much any guitar works for shoegaze, but yeah a Mustang would work great. Single coils are ideal for the clarity and the tremolo, while not a Jazzmaster trem, will do the trick.
@@JulianA-tr6pt nothing beats a Jazzmaster trem. The mustang trem can do some nice bends and tuning manipulation if you know how to adjust it right. Your videos are awesome btw!
a few days from pay day, and have the Fender Shields Blender on my to get list . i know i am going to be one of the players who just adds a light splash of it, and might actually get a little irritated with how touchy the controls are . i have syths, so i don't need my guitar to be one. my guitar just needs to be my guitar, but it's a twisted passive circuit to begin with ... i guess i like going for different sounds, but i don't want my sound to be too much of any one thing.
I dunno, it’s blurry like with any genre. (Who invented punk? Who invented techno?) Different people always seem to converge on something when it’s time. In the case of shoegaze, I always credit the Cocteau Twins because that’s who I’d been listening to since ‘84. Others say the J&MC. I’ve listened to some ARKane but they don’t do much for me, personally...

Agree! Fender kick ass. Far better than Gibson 👍

build one
Harley Benton makes one
