Awesome, I just set up my newly restored joiner today and was really happy to see this video, I'd never used one before so this was great. Thanks!

Great tips, Mathew. I still don't have a jointer but I see one in my near future. Still using the table saw straight rip jig and it works quite well for edges.

Great tips. I see lots of people that don't keep their downward pressure on the outfeed table.

Some good tips here. NOTE: I've been using talcum powder instead of wax on all cast iron surfaces for a few years. This fills the microscopic pours in the iron and makes the surface super slick.

Matthew, can you go into more detail about the 'O' and 'I'

Yes. I'll add that to the video list to be a stand alone.

A question on co-planar--shouldn't the outfeed table be co-planar to the max height of your cutter blades? If it is co-planar (unless I am misinterpreting what that means) with the infeed table, once you remove wood with the cutters, the board will tip down, and, if you are applying pressure to the outfeed portion, there will be a gap between the outfeed table and the wood until the piece completely passes the cutter head.

Knives are set to the table height of the out-feed table. In this jointer, the knives are indexed.

@Richard is correct. The only time the infeed and outfeed tables should be coplanar is if the cut depth is set to zero (infeed table all the way up). Nice video though, love the tip about the feeler gauges.

I have been trying to figure my jointer for some time now. I have everything adjusted correctly but still can't get a board done. Every board starts out OK but after a few passes the leading edge in about an inch or more smaller than the trailing end. If I complete one 1-6 the leading edge ends in a point and the trailing end is still not planed. Any advice?

Your in feed and out feed tables are not co-planer to each other.

One side is lower then the other - tipping down.

What is the best way to adjust the table to be coplaner. I have been struggling to achieve that, but continue to struggle. someone needs to make a video that actually shows the steps of making the table complainer and not just point out where the nuts are that need to be loosened.
