I already love them. Always wanted a pair of DW’s but don’t have the room/space for the floor standers. Kind of surprised you aren’t offering some matching stands, a speaker like this deserves them.
I heard them Saturday morning at Southwest Audio Fest in the Black Ice room and I must say I was totally impressed. It was paired with the Black Ice FX10H. In my opinion the best sounding room to my ears. There was one other, WBT/Kimber Kable but they had some unobtanium speakers. I’m saving my pennies for the exact combo. Giant killer and a fun combo. I’ve seen reviews on YT for years and I thought Zu where sensationalized. It wasn’t until I got ears on them in person I understood stood the principles behind Zu speakers and the Dirty Weekend. KISS
Wish these upgrades weren’t so expensive. Let’s be real here. You have cut the bottom off. Great! Stand mount…ish . I get that. Low listening… has to be on point for absolutely. Just build this thing with the GD upgrades and charge a price that people will have to buy. Love this product and the ZU philosophy.

Still love my Soul Superfly and always keep a look out for new speakers from Zu. However, this time I just have to comment on the fact that Jim has clearly acquired the bug and is wearing a Wrexham shirt. Is he the only Zu convert? Also, anyone heard the Enleum AMP 23-R with Zu? Getting rave reviews.
I run subwoofers so I was hoping for a much smaller bookshelf. Giant bookshelfs seem to be a style now I run a pair of Maggies LRS and alternate every other month with a pair of DW omen mk 2 for a different sound to mix it up. Smaller makes a swap and storage much easier. Love the Zu sound with Rogue audio, just don't get the giant bookshelves, might as well get DW6.
In the background of the video you have some of them positioned horizontally. Is the speaker designed to still sound good in that orientation? I have a shelf height limitation, so horizontal actually is ideal for me. Thank you!
I have the DW version 1 in sangria red. I have enjoyed them with a 300B Single ended amp called the Connoisseur SE II for several years now. Do the DW6 drivers have a different motor or coil windings, etc than the original DW1? I like the way that you have expanded the universe of high efficiency speakers. Congrats!
We wanted enough cross section and flare radius to allow very low port noise even at high volume levels, which also improves pressure over velocity even at low levels. Front mounted so timing is as tight as possible, which also allows improved placement opportunities. Happy you are digging the DW Mk.II with the NAD7000! Thanks

In most rooms I find myself in the 24" hight area, I recommend using whatever you have handy to find the high you need, then you can hunt for a stand in a similar hight. Cinderblocks and books are tried and true materials-close-at-hand :-)
Was using the concentric driver design also used in the Union 6 a consideration ? Was there too much of a trade-off ? I would think concentric would increase the versatility and improve the imaging performance ?
Please explain the two speaker matching upgrades. I thought that was something quality speaker manufacturers typically do, but maybe I'm missing something.
9 out to 10 times the answer is no, go with the floor standing versions as a stand is going to take up just as much space. Still, there might be the rare time where a stand mount DX6 will sound better than the DW6 (floor stander sister). Funky sounding rooms that have big summing modes below 45 Hz (kick drum) might not play as well with a speaker like DW6 which is a bit more extended in the bass region. The DWX hits just a touch harder at 45 Hz, but rolls off sooner than the DW6. If you have a complex room with lots of modes in the bass, give us a call to discuss, as for me or Gerrit.

Love my DW's want to upgrade my amp. Currently have an Onkyo amp that's sounds really good. What solid state amplifiers would you recommend? I was thinking of the Arcam SA20 which provides 10watts Class A. Any other suggestions?
@@kwilj Yes I have, the Aegir looks like it would be a good fit for the DW's being Class A. I just don't know it's sound characteristics like is it warm or neutral sounding? I will look into it more. I haven't lived with the SA20, sorry. The Pass XA-25 is killer do-it-all solid state. The NAD C700 is a nice all-in-one for easy and accessible. Then it gets weird, I have a thing for SET tubes, so 45, 2A3, PX-25, 300B, 211, 801, 845, TH100.... Also, the Bose PM-8500, love this thing.

At a half inch radius is going to do nothing preservable, but it will change the look. If we make the speaker with a two inch or more radius we then need to make the cabinet out of fiber and resin, which will double the price as we would also need to core the composite to keep cabinet resonance down. Keep it crisp and good looking. Diffraction can be easily controlled with high and medium density foam if needed for tracking/mastering....
Parts are pretty available, the Rubbermaid Trash Can Dolley, then mount a 5-gallon bucket on it, upside-down, then a 12" x 12" 1/2" maple plate with a rag as interface. We have a few hundred of this in the shop, what we use as fixtures for finishing cabinets.
Smaller is better, until you start messing with the sound of the kick drum.... It's as small as it could be and still have that expressive, live and vibrant and full-bodied tone we all love.
Thats why I dont design speakers. That said, it is a huge bookshelf The Warfdale Linton is about 3427 cubic inches on the exterior and yours is 3312 about. I understand you took the path of least expense in adapting a floor stander to a stand speaker.

Looks to be modified Eminence B102 10" drivers - or possibly custom - but based on. Have some of those in my large open baffle speakers.
Would like to see this compared to the new MoFi Fidelity speaker. Going to bet it crushes the Mofi.

Yes. When plugged the box/driver are pretty close to ideally damped.

We have done, several times. We can do about anything with finish, just comes done to how much you want to spend :-)

Have you looked at the Schiit Aegir or Vidar? Aegir does the lower power Class A thing very well.
