Lol, the song was hilarious and would probably pass for an actual song at a concert for a lot of people. That being said, technically the "indie" "genre" is literally the most expansive and diverse genre and leaves more room for experimentation than any other since there's no limitation to the label. He's just speaking of a particular subgenre which is just the fun, danceable indie that's not gonna change any lives, but is fun to nod a head to.
actually radiohead is actually as of "In Rainbows" an independent group. All indie means is that they aren't signed. It just so happens that a lot of indie bands sound exactly the same. Radiohead doesn't
Spanky You must be a fan trying to defend them. This fucking does sound like them. This song he pulled out of his ass was pretty much A-punk by VW and 70% of their other songs
shayne whydoihavetohavealastnamegoogle? Sorry you can't read but as I said I just looked them up, as in I'd never heard them or of them before. And you're wrong, it sounds nothing like them.
shayne whydoihavetohavealastnamegoogle? There's a psychological effect thing called the "out group homogeneity effect" meaning that when one is part of an "outgroup" they believe that everyone (or in this case, everything) that is part of the in group is the same. This effect can be seen when people say stupid shit like "all of (insert race here) looks the same" or "all preps dress the same" or whatever. There may be some truth to this idea, but once you become part of the in group, you notice many more subtleties that an "outgrouper" wouldn't notice. TL;DR - There is a psychological effect called the "outgroup homogeneity effect" that makes people think that everything from a group that they are not apart of or take part in is the same, in this case, indie music.
Hey futureLAD u never met me, but i play on odditySMP. don't know if you still remember it but, just wanted to say hi and that it would be cool if some of the older players got to meet you after seeing your awesome builds. I'm not expecting anything just thought it would be cool. Thanks, and my username is mikenike1999
I kind of see his point about most indie being repetitive...but like I saw someone else say, it's just enjoyable to listen to, music doesn't have to be unique all of the time
It's a bit rich coming from someone who does dubstep and drum and bass. Now I like drum and bass and I like some dubstep but they are repetative as fuck and use the same drum beats, same bpms all the time. Also it depends on his definition of indie it's a pretty loose term.
How could you hate indie music? Theres nothing wrong with it Edit: also your example of indie isnt real indie. Real indie is dayglow, alfie templeman, etc..
and drum and bass or dubstep isnt the same way? he hates it cause he can't reproduce it. what he just created sounded like shit. i guess it depends on how you define indie which seems to be an ever expanding genre( it overlaps into others) i dont know is radiohead indie? he says he likes them.
His indie improv is so catchy, I still have it in my head 11 years later….
Im so glad this stucked in my memory for so long, and i come back everytime to hear the best indie music in one :D
I still come back to this, it's so perfect
I still come back here, because this is the best indie song I've ever heard.
Beardyman rips on every type of music at his shows, its all in fun.
Actually his improvised indie song is quite catchy! :-D
exactly :D i come back to listen to it some time
"Unshaved" part 1 at the Udderbelly
Awesome vid. Really like this sort of stuff.
Would like to see more. Keep it up.
Still rocks
There are a lot of angry hipsters in here XD
It's a bit of a weak parody, not like dance music is immune from sounding exactly the same a lot of the time
@@andrewtucker94 triggered much? Lol
@@andrewtucker94 lol... weak parody? Its great parody! Do something on your own... this guy is genius
O-WOHO O-WOHO O-WOHO
At least for the first time in recent memory I have a song stuck in my head that I am not screwing up the lyrics.
I am an indie kid and this is so accurate
Still better than 99% of indie bands in existence.
That indie drum beat just reminds me of Flame by Sebadoh
I need an album
Lol, the song was hilarious and would probably pass for an actual song at a concert for a lot of people.

You the real MVP
actually radiohead is actually as of "In Rainbows" an independent group.
All indie means is that they aren't signed. It just so happens that a lot of indie bands sound exactly the same. Radiohead doesn't
Less “ hipster “ more “boring white folk guitar music”
I believe its "All indie songs at once"
Is it bad that I watch this because I thoroughly enjoy the song at the end?
He just made every Vampire Weekend song
shayne whydoihavetohavealastnamegoogle? Just looked that band up and they sound nothing like this. I'm sorry you have such a poor ear for music.
Spanky You must be a fan trying to defend them. This fucking does sound like them. This song he pulled out of his ass was pretty much A-punk by VW and 70% of their other songs

Spanky you're listening to the wrong band then lol

Does someone now the actuall link from beardyman for this show. The full show?
this is from his show "Unshaved" it is on his youtube channel
ii love beardymans indie music... whats the original name of this song ?
Needs more "HEY!"s
Someone can write down what he said about Indie? I didn't understand :D
He's the boss!
Even tho I love indie music, I found this quite funny and somewhat true;d
Which show was this?
I never get over this. All I see below is a bunch of indie fans admitting their choice of music is dreadful
As opposed to..drum n bass lol
Intro sounds like Stone roses, Resurrection. Which is an amazing song.
Problem is he’s talking about modern indie
Oh my god hahahahaha! Indie music is my choice stuff to listen to, but this is great.
I feel horrible because I actually thought that didn't sound to bad...
Did he just write The Stroke's new single?
haha brilliant
I always thought, Indie was independent and Indie Rock is that shit that Beardyman is going on about.
That's a different use of the term, beardyman is referring to the genre.

in Rainbows is technically indie...
this is true, but at least indy is more innovative than most rap/pop and other genres out there, just saying
In my opinion, this sounds more like some overpopped "pop/punk".. But yea, he's got a point.
1:25 repeat plx xD
That sounded like 90's alternative to me.
libertines and razorlight, I'm looking at you.
To be fair they are unsigned
I kind of see his point about most indie being repetitive...but like I saw someone else say, it's just enjoyable to listen to, music doesn't have to be unique all of the time
Seems like the people below don't know he's a comedian and that what he says here isn't necessarily true :]
That sounds like The Strokes, not "indie"... I believe he has only heard mainstream indie-style music.
You feel bad because you didn't conform to that group..?
Says the 2000 millionth beatboxer on youtube.
Not that I dislike Beardyman mind you..
this joke isn't for u to laugh at if u like indie m8, sorry scrape out

@Evi1M4chine It's true that 00s indie was often derivative and a bit bland...but so is drum n bass
and every indie video is the same
What? what the hell are you on about?
This was hilarious hahaha.
Don't know why people are mentioning the strokes though, This is nothing like their songs and they aren't even indie
***** Yeah I've already listened to two of best songs of the naughties.
They are now tbf, but their first album is still goat
ok... than there is like only one indie band... that one. lol.
hmm maybe all you hipsters can clarify what exactly is indie?
How could you hate indie music? Theres nothing wrong with it
Edit: also your example of indie isnt real indie. Real indie is dayglow, alfie templeman, etc..
that's not what indie means anymore. it's a genre, not a model for production.
Understandable, you're American.
You're right, what he just created DID sound like shit. Because Indie is shit.
That's the stereotype of indie music. Indie isn't a genre though, it just means "independent". Purity Ring is indie, and they sound nothing like that.
Radiohead is far from indie.
and drum and bass or dubstep isnt the same way? he hates it cause he can't reproduce it. what he just created sounded like shit. i guess it depends on how you define indie which seems to be an ever expanding genre( it overlaps into others) i dont know is radiohead indie? he says he likes them.
