    That's a sharp looking tractor indeed. I'm looking at buying an Oliver 1900 mostly because of the Detroit.

    Detroit diesel in a tractor. That’s pretty cool.

    I saw an Oliver 1900, the twin tractor to this one that was separated at birth, at the Pageant of Steam in Canandaigua, New York last weekend (8/ 9/ 2014).

      Hell of a noise they make eh!

    • @Trukluver
      @Trukluver 10 лет назад +4

      Yes. I still feel that a Detroit Diesel was a machine invented to convert diesel fuel into smoke and noise.

      Ever have to drive one?
      With a 5 and 4 yet?
      We had three of them up until the last dozen years or so.
      Had the pleasure of driving one when it died.
      Sounded like they should cover the quarter in 10 flat.
      10 minutes was closer.

    Awesome tractor and engine. As soon as you quit seeing that oil all over the hood, you know the oil pan is dry.

    the Detroit has a long history of being almost indestructible. that was by design for the uninformed could have more time in the field not the shop! what weight class do you pull in and what gear?

    Interesting sound especially compared to the plonk plonk plonk of the John Deere in the background.

    Crazy loud Toy! What's about fuel-economy and torque? Here in Germany two stroke diesels didn't have much friends except the legendary LANZ Bulldog...
    The former market leader Hanomag killed it's tractor plant with two stroke...

    • @Rainhill1829
      @Rainhill1829  5 лет назад +1

      Detroit two strokes have a storied history, some swear by them, some swear at them. For better or worse they found their way into pretty much everything.

      @@Rainhill1829 thanks for your reply. In the meantime I found out some Details about the DD 2-stroke types. Up to 4 exhaust valves for borehole cleaning is an indicator for the seriousness of the draftsmen. Obviously the DD twostroke took a serious evolutionary development over the whole time it was built...
      ...last it seems, the era ended because of increasing requirements for exhaust substance and maybe fuel economy...
      ...Just as the German legendary aircooled DEUTZ Diesel died because of exhaust problems that could not be solved with air-cooled technique...

      Ah almost, we got lots of crankcase scavenged two stroke diesels featured here too.

      No, all 2stroke diesel's have a blower, not a supercharger!

    He should have geared down he would have pull father. My dad used to pull at the county fair Massey Ferguson's he would always pull in a lower gear and walk that tractor with the front end up in the air. And would win against the more powerful Tractors but same weight.

    Probably the worst company name in history.
    Divorce proceedings:
    Yes, Mrs. Greene agrees that that Mr. Greene can keep his Cockshutt and there will be no more interest.

      How to turn fuel into noise. I once spent a long day on the Oliver version, with earplugs and earmuffs over those. Not fun at all. It is no mystery why these are rare today.
