Good work there, Sean, keep it up, very nice to see. Hello from Ohio, USA and hope all is well there in Cavan. -Greg (Cavan man on my mom's side (Riley))
Great update. Ponies doing great work. Maverick is so stylish, love her. All animals very happy and contented. Lovely to see the man behind the camera. Another great update, thank you
Never seen em as contented much prefer the galloway type,as you said the red calf is ideal for your system, really really like her, don't like em too leggy.
Well k the criac with liver fluke I'm learning is .yes it's an issue however a good healthy animal in a diverse ecosystem should show no signs of ill effects from a slight burden. It's only when a secondary issue occurs such as hunger ,cold set stocking in infected land or any drop in the immune system the fluke get the upper hand and symptoms start to show. Ponies on the other hand do also become infected however show far more resilience to it than even the best adapted ruminate. In fact I've never heard tell of dosing for it in equine "but it's not not done" My hope is I can clean them off with the hardier animal, change the environment to less favorable conditions and keep one step ahead. Wet years are always going to be worse also.
@@seanofalluinregenerativefa4569 interesting, the ponies are proving useful, grazing what the cattle won’t graze , animal impact and reducing fluke burden . 3 reasons to have them on the land , just goes to show diversity of everything, plants and animals makes for a healthy system. Not bad for monogastric animals.
Well Rodney oh I sold her to a neighbour man earlier in the year. She was a bit on the spooky side. Madra the blue lady that lay on her calf is gone too. Along with black maverick heifer and beltie beag . I have a wee red shorthorn black friesian cow/heifer with calf and Davies heifer is here with her calf. She developed a really bad infection in her leg and we are still nursing her. 🤞.
Everything is looking good ✔️

It’s a nice picture all the red Galloways standing together. So are Ponies a dead end host for liver fluke that affect cattle ?
