    Thank You for this video. I've heard about WSPR but never knew how it worked. Another piece of the puzzle in place

    I found it works much better if you put radio in digital mode. Also, there is a great program called GridTacker that will map reports directly.

      Although it makes no odds to receive-only activity, digimodes are normally in USB, not LSB (the usual inversion of convention in relation to speech from 7MHz down does not apply to digimodes).

    Thanks for sharing with us. Very detailed. Was planning on buying a RSP DX as soon it is available here in Canada and this video surely helped. And thank you for naming "the Netherlands" the Netherlands instead of Holland.

    Crazy you were getting any decodes, All WSPR is USB not LSB like stated in the video.

      Thanks! I'm glad you like my channel. I made a video showing all of my antennas just a couple of weeks ago. If you look at my recent uploads you'll find it. I don't have anything specific for satellite reception but I can usually hear them on the antennas I have currently set up.

    1. Why do you use VB-Cable and not just use 'Stereomix'? Is it because the audio is over USB? What am I not understanding? I wish you had explained what it is and why you need it.
    2. Is VB-Cable the same thing as VSPE (virtual serial port emulator) or Com0com (same thing only free)?

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  4 года назад

      As I said in the beginning of the video, I've made other videos detailing some of the software and installation and didn't want to rehash ll of that here. You can watch some of my other videos if you want more detail. I'm not sure what "stereomix" is but VB cable is needed to route the audio from SDRuno to WSJT-X. If you know of another application or method that does this, then by all means feel free to experiment with it to see if it works As you said, I like VB cable because its free, simple to install and use, and I already had it on my computer.

    Thanks, this is one of the few good beginning videos. Question. It seems you manually tune SDR Uno. Can the wsjt-x whisper mode automatically set the frequency of the SDR Uno? I know it works using CAT with an HF rig. I would like to automatically have whisper tune the SDR but without my HF rig turned on

      You most likely can link wsjtx to sdruno...I haven't done that yet

    Well I see this is 4 years old . But Well done. My question is this will allow me to see what my antenna can receive. I think I know that by just listening . The old saying if you can hear them you can work them. Maybe. Honestly not sure how this helps making contacts. Since power and propagation are critical I do not see the correlation. Please help me understand. And thank you for the effort you put in.

      It's just something else you can do with this radio. Some people don't have transmitters or perhaps transmitters that can't be connected to a computer so this is a way they can still experiment with this mode.

    I've got the exact same multi band receiver radio in the background, and 50 feet of lox loss RG6 Coax to a antenna on my roof. The Coax is made of 2 halves, is there any suggestion you may have i could use to get a better signal? Maybe a amplifier? All i have is a 10db Amplifier for this system that i only ever use for shortwave, and id really like to be able to get more stations, im kind of new to the entire hobby but i know basics. There have been times ive gotten a good signal but usually no.

    So you reckon that by putting my callsign into qrz it can magically tell me my qra locator? Surely it can only do that if I have filled in that information at some point and if that is so why am I going there to find the known information.

    I noticed you mentioned using VB audio cable. I'm wondering if you could do a video on how to get WSJT-X to interface with SDRUno (or SDR Console). I have been trying to get VB audio and SDR Console and SDRUno to work together for several days and I just cannot get the virtual connection to occur and it's super frustrating!!!

Visual radar shows that my RSP2 is connected.How is the frequency set to 1090 Mhz? does the dump 1090 software due that automatic.I tried connected to my 2meter vertical just as you had done.Any ideas what may need to be done to start decoding signals when dump 1090 is started. any help would be appreciated. If you followed the steps in my video, it should work. It's been a while since I fooled with this so I can't think of any trouble spots off the top of my head. If you haven't already, it might be worth rebooting and then going through all the steps again to double check all of your settings. Also, there is a help document on the SDRplay website that might help. Another thing is to check and make sure all of your connections are good an tight. Do you live in an area where there just isn't a lot of plane traffic? I'm fortunate to live within 20 miles of a fairly big airport and under and international flight route between the east coast and europe so I get a decent amount of traffic even on my less than ideal antenna. It might be possible that you just need a better antenna if you are sure everything is configured correctly.
